The defense saved the day. They still looked rough, but at least they didn’t let Cleveland eat on the ground. At the end, it’s 1-0 and an AFCN win. That should be a big deal. Oh, it’s a big deal, especially with Pitt pulling out the win by 2 points. But yeah, make no mistake: this was a gift. Even with unexpectedly decent defensive player, they lose if the browns have a guy who can make routine kicks. Bottom line, this does not look like a playoff caliber team at all. They were gifted time today to fix that but better get to it quick. Quote
volcom69 Posted yesterday at 08:21 PM Report Posted yesterday at 08:21 PM Yea that still boggles my mind every year Joe Burrow starts the first 3 games and looks like a 6th round draft pick, then all of a sudden something kicks in, either him or Zac and they go on this streak where he is amazing and looks like that 1st round pick. We blamed it on injuries and I’m not playing the preseason. Well this year he says this is the best he has felt, and yet still looked like he had in past years. Please figure this stupid thing out next week. Quote

We say this every year after the first like 3 games, but it’s always the excuse Joe and his injuries or not playing in the preseason, well this year there shouldn’t be any excuses, so what is this year. Freaking Zac sucks! Tired of this crap! Figure it out this week, seriously Quote
COB Posted yesterday at 08:28 PM Report Posted yesterday at 08:28 PM Biggest concern to me after that game: pocket collapsed almost immediately on every pass play. Quote

Please figure this stupid thing out next week. According to Dehner this week: Week 1 only, since 2020, J Burrow is in the bottom 3 qb’s in every category there is. Weeks 2-18 he’s either 1 or 2 in every category there is. Quote
volcom69 Posted yesterday at 08:43 PM Report Posted yesterday at 08:43 PM Yea it’s crazy and I don’t understand it, I also think Zac is a terrible play caller the first couple games of the season. None of it makes sense at all, I just hope this was the only game, and they come out next week on fire and light it up. Let Risner now practice with the ones and get used to his teammates, and hopefully that will help. Only good thing maybe I can think of is last season no matter what week they would have lost this game, yes the Browns gifted them this win but the Bengals would have found a way to lose it. Just fix these dumb mistakes and hopefully that will they find there rythem again and keep winning Guess I could add the run defense to this also they looked really good. Quote

COB Posted yesterday at 08:49 PM Report Posted yesterday at 08:49 PM We’d have lost this game last year. Quote

I have arranged the bones into the shape of a Cleveland Brown. I have inserted ten needles into the hair doll spiritually bonded to Myles Garrett. My Joe Burrow shrunken head observed all. May it be enough to earn victory against a bad team in Week One. it was barely enough for a fugly fugly FUGLY win :-) thank you now do you need a virgin goat or a couple virgin chickens for next week? 1 Quote

Couldn’t line up, couldn’t call plays, basically couldn’t execute their offense at all. this was well before you watched three sacks in a row, right? Quote
gregcook69 Posted yesterday at 09:01 PM Report Posted yesterday at 09:01 PM I don’t think there has ever been an uglier win in NFL history! Even though the Browns dominated them the entire game they still found a way to hand the Bengals a win, with special teams, but the Bengals kept refusing to accept it right up to the final seconds! TJJackson Posted yesterday at 09:05 PM Report Posted yesterday at 09:05 PM did Shemar do anything at all? Or Myles? I watched on the radio Quote
Stripes Posted yesterday at 09:05 PM Report Posted yesterday at 09:05 PM Annoying that the Jets blew it against the Steelers, but then again of course they did. Go Bills tonight. Quote

TJJackson Posted yesterday at 09:11 PM Report Posted yesterday at 09:11 PM I dont see Shemar in the stats at all.....batted passes would be 2 PD Quote
Stripes Posted yesterday at 09:13 PM Report Posted yesterday at 09:13 PM The good on defense - Trey looked like Trey. - Demetrius Knight was flying around in the first half and, I believe, set a team record for tackles in a debut (10) - DJ Turner and Dax Hill seemed to have strong games as far as I could tell - The run defense was a boulder all game. Cleveland did nothing on the ground. Logan Wilson looked like his old self. - Timely takeaways -- might have been luck, but the defenses in the deep playoff runs did this regularly. The bad on defense - Cam Taylor-Britt lost his matchups with Cedric Tillman. That's not ideal and reminds too much of 2024. - The pass rush outside Trey and BJ Hill was pretty dead. - They allowed the Browns to nickle and dime them for long, sustained drives that kept Burrow off the field. - Left two players wide open that dropped passes you'd expect good teams to catch. The good on offense - Well, the first drive was nice. The bad on offense - *gestures broadly to all of the game footage* - 7 total yards in the second half -- putrid and unacceptable. I am still going to be firing Zac Taylor on this message board this week. Gameplan sucked. Adjustments sucked. It was basically the 2024 Patriots game if Tanner Hudson hadn't fumbled it away on the goal line. I don't think it tells us much about either side of the ball moving forward. We'll see. 1 Quote

Great example today, which goodberry pointed out on his postgame vid with jake: on the TD to fant, fant is wide open from the snap. Swesinger fully bites from the get-go. Ball should have been out instantly…and Joe still takes three steps before he finally throws. He’s just not processing at full speed yet, it’s like it takes a game for the football chip in his head to warm up. Quote

Stewart and Ossai also both caused the throw Battle picked. Ossai put the pressure on and forced Flacco to step up and Stewart hit his elbow as he threw. On the postgame vid with goodberry jake said pff had Stewart as todays no. 3 overall defender in their early ratings, have to see how that shakes out when they go back over the film. 1 Quote
volcom69 Posted 23 hours ago Report Posted 23 hours ago Bengals had 7 total yards in the second half, really well that’s interesting. Money well earned today guys lol lol Quote
gregcook69 Posted 23 hours ago Report Posted 23 hours ago On the NFL app, I can listen to the games with either home or away stream. l like listening to Lap because he calls out the BS anti-Bengal calls or no calls the referees do time and time again that anyone else who points them out is called a ‘psycho conspiracy theorist’! Burrow’s aggressive no call face mask violation, and Trey’s being thrown to the ground no call offensive holding. Had the Browns not dropped passes right to them and had made the PAT and a ‘gimme’ FG, the refs did their part to make sure the Bengals lost another close game! I’ll be back at playoffs time and see if they miss it again or not! Quote
