Looked it up.  Myles isnt playing tonight

Not, not the Myles you see if you look to the left......

So what’s the difference if you look him up when he plays and if he dosnt play the stat sheet is always the same unfortunately

It sounds like you're saying Myles Murphy is having the same impact as Reggie (look to the left) is

Preseason is just hard to enjoy.  The starting D gets 1 drive to prove to the world they don't suck.  Well they sucked again so from that point it clouds everything else.   There is no finality like regular season.

1. Bad - starting D.  No redeemable qualities.  Let's hope they are intentionally not showing anything because they aren't showing anything in these games.

2. Bad - Joe Burrow/O-line - On 2 plays.  O-line gave pressure.  I believe Patrick, OBJ.  But those plays didn't have to result in QB hits/sacks one a 17 yard loss, another fumble (erased by penalty) just bad QB play.  Throw it away (not sure if there was a check down) what the fuck is he doing?   That's the kind of shit you look up and wonder how they hell did we lose at home as a favorite opening weekend.  Add to it that it is preseason and I think he's out there with the back up WRs.  Just wonder what planet Joe was on during those 2 snaps.

3. Good - Joe Burrow/Back Up WRs.  Moved the ball well.

4. Good - starting OL outside the 2 pressures.  I like the push they got on first drive.  I think Mims was perfect have to wait for the All-22 cut ups people put out there.  Didn't notice anything bad from Fairchild either.  Jalen Rivers looked solid when he came in.  Patrick is just an average dude out there but he has some good plays then a couple breakdowns.  I think he's clearly better than what Cappa was by the end of last year.

I would think Tinsley is not in a roster battle with Burton but probably Hudson or one of the other TEs.    Jones finally showed up outside of special teams been a long time.  Yoshi looked good.  Tinsley great.

On if he wanted to try and get T Jalen Rivers in with the first team:

"That wasn't necessarily the plan. I mean, that's something we've talked about over time. You know, I think [G] Lucas [Patrick] is a little dinged up right now, so we'll assess where he is at. That's really what happened there."

Sounds like he's dinged up

n what has not been translating for the starting defense:

"Preseason. I feel really excited about where our defense is at. We go against them every day, it's tough. We'll continue to fix the things we can fix from the preseason game."

On the energy and effort from the defense tonight:

"We'll look at the tape and assess where it's at. We practice against them every single day. Love where our defense is at. There's a lot of things that give the offense a really hard time right now, so we'll just continue to build off of that."

All you can do is hope because starting D looks crappy.

I hate the thought process of the defense is going to be ok because they go against one of the best offenses every day in practice.

Practice?  We're talking about practice?  Practice?

While it doesn't hurt, I'm far from saying the defense is going to be ok because of it.
They haven't appeared to be any better than last year to this point.
Chunk play after chunk play and poor tackling.  Just ugh.

Sky isn't falling, but it appears shaky...

On offense, I think they accomplished what they set out to do by playing the starters relatively extensively. They knocked off some rust, got the early jitters out of their systems and seem as ready as you could hope for the real season to begin. The one glaring issue is RG and at this point it's too late to do much about it. It's going to be a weakness and they're going to have to deal with it, that's all.

Defensively they look like the worst defense in the history of football. Just epically bad. Sadly, decades of watching this sport have taught me that preseason problems never magically vanish once week 1 arrives, so I am expecting the horror show to continue in Cleveland and probably for at least all of September. Hopefully with time they can find a groove at some point this season before it's too late, but until then the offense is going to have to score like 40 points a game.

Teams look good. That could flip one or two L's to W's over the course of the season.

I remember last year the defense started playing better when Lou "dumbed it down".
Lets start the season utilizing the KISS method (Keep It Simple, Stupid).

Lets minimize the impact of stupid and wins some games !!

How's that for a camp slogan ??

I don't really know, but it looks to me like they are lined up basic and players are thinking too much instead of playing as far as starters go.

Supposedly Golden’s method was to simplify the whole defense, minimize thinking and decision making, which would allow guys to play faster.  We should expect growing pains, if that’s what we’re seeing.

If you listened to the pregame last night there was a theme of once Washington realized they finally had a franchise QB, they went out and loaded up on good players.  That’s AFTER they made the nfc championship game.  They almost couldn’t be more different from the Bengals.  We had one of the worst defenses in the NFL and the FO did very very little to improve the personnel.  New DC, the easiest and cheapest fix was admittedly implemented.

DC has a new and apparently deep-pocketed owner.  We have Mike, very much stuck in his ways and looking to run things on a shoestring.

Well, it’s a lot easier to go shopping for better players when your QB has an $8 million cap hit versus a $46 million cap hit just for starters. Could the Bengals have done more? Sure, but that means Tee is playing somewhere else, and big chunks the fanbase threw a shit fit over that idea. Or they could have traded Trey and used the picks and freed-up cash and cap space to remake the D, but anyone who suggested that got shouted down, too. Everyone wanted Jamarr extended, Tee resigned, Trey resigned, and so here we are. I am not unhappy with the choices they made, but those choices had consequences, and I’d like to think we all knew that. All we can do now is hope those choices work out.

I’m not comparing the two as to where would it be better to spend that money. Only commenting that I always thought Tee would be the odd man out. The premise behind my thought has to do with now nearly 40% of the cap being spent on 3 players and two position groups.

Trey is secondary to that thought, but certainly debatable.
