AMPHAR Posted October 9, 2024 Report Posted October 9, 2024 58 minutes ago, HoosierCat said: No it’s because THE OFFENSE SUCKED IN AUGUST. Did you miss the opener against the Pats? The one where they could only manage 10 points and looked like they didn’t know how to play the game? That’s the offense they were “dominating” in camp, the one that need a couple weeks of the real thing to figure out how to play football again. What the D did in August practices means nothing, because the offense was still a joke at that point. Yeah the offense sucked so bad people though Joe's wrist was damaged. I already pointed that out. They sucked because the defense performed very well in practices that typically don't involve game planning. Kinda odd. People can believe what they want. IMO, the gap is so big between what went on in TC, Weeks 1 and 2 vs. Weeks 3-5 that its stupid to conclude well these guys that have a bunch of starts in the NFL aren't NFL caliber. Its more plausible to believe that Lou's magic hat has run dry. I'm sure Joe could have met immediately with Zac after MNF, to complain about the lack of Jessie Bates, DJ Reader. Its more realistic he see the holes in the defensive game plan. How many more starting caliber free agents does Lou need? How many draft picks should he get? IMO, his ass is problem No. 1 and should be on the hot seat. Keep mind the level of defense needed. No one has ever held Lou to the standard of Zimmer. He just needs to get back to mediocre yardage/points defense. Quote
HoosierCat Posted October 9, 2024 Author Report Posted October 9, 2024 Ivey cleared to practice. Quote

Yes, it’s stupid for me to believe what I see with my own eyes. It’s not that the DL can’t get off blocks, it’s the scheme! It’s not that Bell is slower than Rich Eisen, it’s the scheme! It’s not that the secondary misses tackles and takes bad angles, it’s the scheme! It’s not that the only first rounder on D got stoned for a whole game by a rookie tackle making his fifth start, it’s the scheme! Quote

It’s not that the only first rounder on D got stoned for a whole game by a rookie tackle making his fifth start, it’s the scheme! Edit make this more simple. Lou's defense sucked in 2019 and 2020 with Jessie Bates. He had average defenses by any objectionable measure in 2021,2022. It was awesome playoff games and results that saved Lou from getting run out of town. His 2023 defense sucked and he sold on blind faith to Bengal Nation that it was all Dax Hill's fault along with Nick Scott. He got his safeties. These moves were applauded by a lot of people. Now his defense sucks again.... "well he needs Jessie Bates" You can check the record his defense suck with Jessie Bates too. What do you really think the issue is? How many more FAs and draft picks do we have to throw under bus to make excuses for a guy that has never had a top defense? In the summertime practices when game planning is less of a focus. His defense performed very well against a group that is now among the top 10 of the NFL. Dominated the Colts in a joint practice. Played average defense weeks 1 and 2. Its not because of talent when his defense goes to shit weeks 3-5. Quote
HoosierCat Posted October 9, 2024 Author Report Posted October 9, 2024 Quote Bona fide NFL starters and/or top draft picks don't play well against a top 10 offense day in and day out in August, That never happened. There was no top 10 offense in Cincy in August. Believe what you want, I’m going to stick with what I see with my eyes. Quote
HoosierCat Posted October 9, 2024 Author Report Posted October 9, 2024 Hilton and Rankins back at practice today. Could use them both Sunday. https://www.cincyjungle.com/2024/10/9/24266249/sheldon-rankins-injury-mike-hilton-bengals-practice-ny-giants Quote
COB Posted October 9, 2024 Report Posted October 9, 2024 Man, if we lose to the lowly Giants. I just don’t know what will happen. Actually, yes I do. Nothing. If I were a member of the Cincy press, first chance I get I’m asking Joe the following: “After last week you said something has to change. Has anything changed?” Quote
TJJackson Posted October 9, 2024 Report Posted October 9, 2024 You may wanna start working on a jobs list for Anarumo, COB I heard he's great with fences all kinds of fences Quote
ArmyBengal Posted October 9, 2024 Report Posted October 9, 2024 Easy guys… Geeesh, what happened to all the good vibes from training camp? I’ll tell you what, let’s talk about something really important that has seemingly gotten lost in all this losing. Burrow’s hair. I mean it’s really growing out well. Almost an early 2000’s nu-metal frosted tips look to it. I can only imagine what he’s going to be wearing in the coming weeks while walking into the stadium to go with that hair style. 1 Quote

ArmyBengal Posted October 10, 2024 Report Posted October 10, 2024 Well credit to Mike Hilton stepping up and addressing what’s going on with the defense. Granted he simply said what we already knew, but at least it’s not Burrow being obviously frustrated when having to discuss the team. ”We’ve been playing like shit, for real”. 1 Quote
COB Posted October 10, 2024 Report Posted October 10, 2024 Do you guys remember those pictures of the old days, where ladies would be at the beach in like this wool swimsuit that was like a baggy bodysuit type thing? Man those were the days. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted October 11, 2024 Report Posted October 11, 2024 I have no reason whatsoever to feel this way and will probably be let down again, but does anyone else feel like this team is due to just kick the living shit out of someone? Maybe it’s my lack of sleep lately… Quote
volcom69 Posted October 11, 2024 Report Posted October 11, 2024 If the defense would just play a average football, and the offense stays hot they can kick the living shit out of a lot of teams. However I have seen this defense now, and they are far far from average. However maybe there player only meeting will kick them into high gear lol Quote
HoosierCat Posted October 11, 2024 Author Report Posted October 11, 2024 Nabers out, per Shefty. Quote

Maybe it’s my lack of sleep lately… The what if game is always complicated and often short sighted but its rarely so simple and clear as it is with the Bengals. 1. No flag in KC 2. Make FG vs Ravens Boom two huge wins. 3-2. Everyone would be talking about hammering the Giants and hopefully not looking past them. Buts and Ifs were candy and nuts you'd be my sister's uncle or something like that. It'd be nice for a big victory on prime time. Lou's defense bleeds yards and points and Giants play good D. Prime Time on the road, feels like this one will be close nail biter. Quote

COB Posted October 12, 2024 Report Posted October 12, 2024 I just read a blurb in the Athletic about how the nfl team with the oldest starting defense is playing. And it was our defense, and we’re not playing well. Quote

volcom69 Posted October 13, 2024 Report Posted October 13, 2024 Defense needs to gets some turnovers tonight, maybe that will help with confidence, if they have any. However that will not help with guys running like they are in quicksand, or taking bad angles all the time, or the fact that they can’t tackle. Geez they suck, with that said just get some turnovers, and make a damn stop Quote
ArmyBengal Posted October 13, 2024 Report Posted October 13, 2024 1 hour ago, volcom69 said: Make a damn stop This. Undeniably this. The offense goes and puts up mad points and they can’t stop anyone. The fact this team isn’t 4-1 falls squarely on the shoulders of the defense. I don’t give a shit about players only, closed doors meetings. Who fucking cares? Is that suppose to mean something? If it is, then that bullshit should produce results on the field. If it doesn’t then it’s nothing more than verbal masterbation and I’m not buying that shit from a team that should be killing it. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted October 13, 2024 Report Posted October 13, 2024 Pull your heads out of your ass and don’t go fucking up yet another game you should win. Jesus please keep the Bengals from stepping on their dicks tonight in prime time. AMEN… Quote
