Week 3: Commanders @ Bengals

So many questions now moving forward, just more distractions for a team that is already distracted!! My gosh what a disappointment, this coaching staff, Brown family, Duke Tobin, I don’t know who to blame, but they suck at keep good players around, they let the good ones go, and expect cheap alternatives to come in and fill the role. It’s so bad anymore!

Offense looked good run game looked good, but they had some missed opportunities as well. But Damnit you score 33 points and lose that is just so terrible. Yes Lou needs to be fired tonight. I don’t know anymore maybe they will go on a huge run after this and we will just forget all of this, but I’m not seeing that with this defense.

"We can't pay Jessie with Tee and Ja'Marr coming up."

"We can't pay Reader with Tee and Ja'Marr coming up."

"We can't pay Tee with Ja'Marr coming up."

"We can't pay Ja'Marr yet because he's a smelly poo poo head."

Pair these miserable decisions with some awful draft picks in the trenches (both sides of the ball), and a successful postseason team contending in the AFC dumps to 0-3 and allows 90% completions to a rookie quarterback.

They want to fire Lou, be my guest.

But gaping voids in the spacetime continuum left in the wake of Reader and Bates are the biggest problem.

That hurt no doubt but no reader and bates didn’t cause the redonkulous missed tackling and poor angles we saw all night. Just miserable fundamentals. That’s on coaching.

Again, QFT.

Exactly why I said they have some huge questions internally moving forward and nothing will ever happen. They let there good players leave while signing cheap alternatives to take there place and they don’t get it done. There draft picks are horrible, haven’t had another Atkins since he was drafted. They have the Qb great, but he can only do so much, this lose was not on him for sure.

So yea they let guys go to pay other guys but have yet to pay the other guys. This FO is a joke, just like this coaching staff

Those 4th down conversions killed the Bengals yesterday.
The Commanders go 3-3 on 4th down and each of them was pretty impactful.
They picked them up, we couldn't defend and that made all the difference in the game.

When checking the trusty dusty stat sheet, you will see an offense that played a solid game for the most part.
There won't be many times where they put up 30+ points and lose.
The defense did them no favors last night.  Oh and special teams allowing a 62 yard kick was less than helpful.

They did what I was expecting in running the ball and our two starting DT's in the tub didn't help either.
While we gained more rushing yards than they did, they ran the ball 32 times and were effective with that approach.

They were 3 of 3 inside the redzone where we were 2-4.  That and Mac missing a FG hurt them as well.

One last note...
Hey Cam, could you please just shut the fuck up now?
That's two straight games we have to hear him run his mouth only to see him get toasted with the long ball and the team loses the game.  What was the comment this week?  Oh yeah, "Nice college offense".  How did that work out for you stupid?  Dumber still was his response when asked about it and him saying he doesn't regret it because he didn't mean anything malicious by it.  Yeah really?  Did you ask the Commanders offense how they viewed that non-malicious comment for the whole week leading up to a primetime game?  You sir, win the dumbass award for two weeks running.  Maybe he will talk some shit about Dalton and go for the trifecta of stupidity...

Fuck off Cam !!

Anyone with half a brain has been screaming about the obvious holes in this D for over a year.

But, no, the organisation knew better than all of us. They had it all in hand.

An abject dereliction of duty on the part of the front office.

Yep.  They kind of justified their decision making (in my mind anyway) with the narrative that this was a possible Super Bowl year.  Thus you tag Higgins and don’t trade him.  JaMarr - I don’t understand either side’s actions on that one.

That defense looked inept.  Troy Aikman made a kind of cryptic comment about our defense being surprised by what Washington was doing.  We game planned to stop the running game.  Allegedly.  Were we supposed to adjust?  Adjust to what?  Daniels was playing out of his mind.  And once they realized he had like 5 seconds on every pass play, and we lost contain on almost every rush, he was just walking around back there doing whatever he wanted.  He’d either hit the open guy or run for 7 yards.  Dude was literally laughing during the game.

See what Jayden Daniels does in the NFL.  He'll probably suck from here on out, but that last TD throw was a fucking dart.

The defense is soft.   I would have never guessed Washington would almost score a TD on every drive.    The last drive was depressing.   The crowd got them 2 false starts and the QB got 2 conversions and then a killer TD throw.

You got to give that QB credit, but come on Lou get out of the fucking zone or whatever you are trying to do.   The last 3rd conversion pass completion to the TE was freaking obvious before the snap.   Knew exactly he would sit down behind the marker in front of the defenders.

Mims gave up a sack, looked bad on that play.   False start on a PAT.    But I thought he was impressive in the later stages of the game especially when they knew Burrow would be dropping back and holding the ball looking deep.   I don't think he gave up much pressure in later part of the game.

I thought Mims did just fine, I had no issues with the offense really, they moved the ball fine, finally ran the ball, got Chase involved. Some redzone issues, wish they could have punched those in, but overall they did good.

The Defense sucks Donkey Balls!!!

I don't know what Daniels will or won't be moving forward but damn near every throw he made last night was right on his guy.
That TD throw was fucking amazing and what a catch.  Go back and take a look at the 55 yarder to set up his rushing TD.
That was the one over Cam's dumb ass.  Fucking DOT...

It's only 3 weeks, but if he keeps that up, the Commanders will be right there at season's end.

Trent Brown out for season.

Daniels was impressive no doubt.   This defensive performance was dead on last year's Houston Texans CJ Stroud performance.   Just depressing.

Also, Lou has gotten beat by a OT catching a TD two weeks in a row.  Has to be some sort of new low.

Just read a thing - the last time our defense played even close to that badly, Marvin fired the DC.

Last night was the worst game a bengals defense has ever played.  Allowed 5 touchdowns and a field goal on 6 possessions.  Two others were kneel downs.  Never stopped them, not once.

We allowed 6.3 points per drive (not counting the kneel downs).  Previous worst was 5.6 points per drive against the Saints in 2018, and Marvin fired Teryl Austin after that game.

The whole defense looked slow and confused all night. It looked like guys/Lou didn’t even study the team they played. Lou should be fired, but he won’t! I don’t know I’m personally getting tired of this whole coaching staff. If they actually had some competent coaching they would be sitting here looking like this!

This is pure speculation on my part, but my guess is you are right about the confusion and it stems from the injuries to Rankins and Hill.

That meant inserting Jenkins and Guy into the lineup, neither of whom had ever taken a live snap as a Bengal before. Lou knew that so he's got other guys on the D keeping one eye on them, i.e. trying to do two jobs and ending up doing neither.

And then other guys out there are trying to compensate for that. So the whole thing snowballs and there you go: a hesitant and slow defense.

Lou needs to teach Guy and Jenkins their jobs this week, and yell the old Marvin mantra "do your job" at the rest of the defense all week.
