HoosierCat Posted August 17, 2024 Author Report Posted August 17, 2024 Just now, Stripes said: Woodside needs to eat that sack; that was doomed. Oh well. Gotta see it to eat it, he wasn’t even looking. 1 Quote
HoosierCat Posted August 17, 2024 Author Report Posted August 17, 2024 Jenkins gets to Williams! Quote
HoosierCat Posted August 17, 2024 Author Report Posted August 17, 2024 I’m stuck watching the bears broadcast and they are just going on on how awesome the Bears defense has been today LMAO 1 Quote
Stripes Posted August 17, 2024 Report Posted August 17, 2024 I'm getting them too. I never need to hear anyone tell me how much they love Kyler Gordon ever again. 1 Quote
HoosierCat Posted August 17, 2024 Author Report Posted August 17, 2024 Newton never looked back there Quote
Stripes Posted August 17, 2024 Report Posted August 17, 2024 Newton is 0 for 2 deep against Odunze (which is the expected outcome given draft positions). Quote
volcom69 Posted August 17, 2024 Report Posted August 17, 2024 Would help if they could get a sack they just kept taking out there own guys lol Quote
HoosierCat Posted August 17, 2024 Author Report Posted August 17, 2024 Took the bears ones almost 30 minutes to get a td against our backups and scrubs. Chicago is going to disappoint a lot of bears fans this year. Quote
Stripes Posted August 17, 2024 Report Posted August 17, 2024 McPherson responds to his 16.5Ms with a 54 yard conversion. Quote
volcom69 Posted August 17, 2024 Report Posted August 17, 2024 Man it amazes me how the media gets a huge Chub when Caleb scores on a 3rd string defense. Man they blow preseason out of context just crazy 1 Quote

Bear looked like ass. 1. Impressive showing by Bengals D. They could only get stuff with a reverse, bullshit PI, and some impressive play extending vs. I'm not sure what depth along Bengals line. 2. Kirkland impressive at LT. Really only 1 notable D-line rush vs. Ford. The free runners come from secondary blitzes. Hard to know who to blame with out All-22. Kinda BS doing that stuff in Preseason but whatever. 3. Multiple gash running plays 4. Bengals would probably have the lead without OL penalties 5. Burton looks good on returns. Not a whole lot of college experience so do you trust him in regular season? 6. Battle seems to be buried deep on the depth chart. I'm not sure he's going to have a big role this year. We'll see. 7. Newton is impressive DB depth 1 Quote

AMPHAR Posted August 17, 2024 Report Posted August 17, 2024 Williams does look good in play extension. Sure, who the hell is he going against but he can compose himself and reload while keeping eyes down the field. Quote
volcom69 Posted August 17, 2024 Report Posted August 17, 2024 This team really sucks in the preseason geez I know it’s 3rd string but they are so bad lol. Just boring anymore ready for the regular season. Quote

volcom69 Posted August 17, 2024 Report Posted August 17, 2024 Good thing is a lot of teaching from those tapes should help I would think lol. Quote
volcom69 Posted August 17, 2024 Report Posted August 17, 2024 Sounds like that field was terrible to play on as well. Quote
HoosierCat Posted August 17, 2024 Author Report Posted August 17, 2024 My non-player-specific takeaways would be: The defense was impressive in that the only starter out there today was Hill and the Bears ones couldn’t do squat. Tackling and coverage were mostly solid and there were some nice run-stuffs. Offensively, again it was all backups. Not much going in the run game. Passing game was sub par but notably I thought the backup oline held up well. Woodside took a couple ugly blindside sacks but I put those on him. Have to be aware pre snap and at least peek after the snap. Teams were fine I guess. McMoney hit from 54 so a good day. 2 Quote
ArmyBengal Posted August 18, 2024 Report Posted August 18, 2024 Burton could be the surprise WR this year that surpasses many WR’s drafted ahead of him. I love what he brings. Quote

Really this he will surprise and can’t wait to watch him Quote
COB Posted August 18, 2024 Report Posted August 18, 2024 Burton could be the backup kick returner. From what I’ve seen I’m not sure they’d make him the main kick returner. Too much risk for a guy who looks like he could turn into something as a receiver. Quote
Stripes Posted August 18, 2024 Report Posted August 18, 2024 I like Burton, but I think he will struggle to keep up with high-end rookie production as a member of the #3 platoon with Iosivas and Irwin. I really like that arrangement though, since all three are quality players with different skillsets. It should provide more dynamic options than Boyd did alone, if not necessarily at his immediate ceiling of production. Quote

The better Yoshi and Burton play the more it leads to the last season for Higgins as a Bengal, not that that wasn't on the cards anyway. Quote
