2024 Schedule

Recommended Posts

Absolutely hate two TNF games against the division, but the good news is that this happened to the entire AFC North.

Otherwise there's really no excuse to win fewer than 12 games against this schedule if the roster is reasonably healthy. There's no true "gauntlet" of a stretch. Beyond the six division games, KC, and PHI, this is a pile of inferior opposition. The worst it gets is probably this five-game stretch:

@ BAL
@ LAC
BYE
vs. PIT
@ DAL
@ TEN

Even that has a bye week nestled beautifully in the center.

Nope, nothing to get really irritated about when looking at this.
I know the players don't care for the Thursday night games, but I enjoy them as a fan.

Agree, no reason they don't smash this schedule if health is on their side.
The makings of an MVP season for Burrow.

Yeah that three games in 10 days stretch in December is pretty brutal. Good news is that the first nine weeks are sedate as far as scheduling goes so they have a chance to pad the win column a bit before the grind hits.

Looking at opponents, they should go at least 3-1 in September if they can shake their habit of poor starts. October is tougher, only the Giants look easy but they have to start beating some good teams sometime. November should be good for at least 2 wins. Dec/Jan looks at least 3-3.

October looks like the key month to me.

Week 16: Thurs. Cleveland Browns, 8:15 p.m. - WIN
Week 17: Denver Broncos, (time TBD) - WIN
Week 18: at Pittsburgh Steelers, (time TBD) - WIN

HOLY SHIT, that's 14-3.  Give or take the two games I always factor in and the range is 12-5 to 16-1.
Jesus please help this team stay healthy this year.  If we win the Super Bowl, I promise not to make fun of TJ's dead gramma anymore.

Hard Knocks is entering new territory in 2024 with plans to document an entire division's regular-season journey.

For the first time ever, HBO and NFL Films will follow all four teams in the AFC North for their annual Hard Knocks: In Season, aiming to chronicle the inner workings of the rough-and-tumble quartet of squads. The new episodes will feature the Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers, members of the first division to finish with nothing but winning records, achieved in 2023.

Let the countdown begin.

5 weeks from today for the first preseason football game of the season.
Not trying to wish the summer away by any stretch, but I'm ready to get after it.

By "get after it" I mean sitting in my old man chair.

Well, this could be a mess…

Quote

A Los Angeles jury agreed Thursday that the NFL violated antitrust laws by offering Sunday afternoon games via a premium subscription service, awarding plaintiffs hefty damages of about $4.7 billion in a years-old class action suit.

The NFL said it plans to contest the decision.

The lawsuit first filed in 2015 covers 2.4 million residential subscribers and 48,000 businesses like bars and restaurants who paid for out-of-market games from the 2011 to 2022 NFL seasons on DirecTV. It alleged that the league broke antitrust laws by selling the Sunday game package at an inflated price, and by offering the sought after Sunday Ticket games only on a satellite provider.

Plaintiffs in the case argued that the league was engaging in price-fixing because fans of a single team were not able to buy just that team’s games. (Under the terms of media rights deals with networks, local stations carry games in teams’ home markets on over-the-air broadcast television.) Instead, the only option was to sign up for all out-of-market games on Sunday Ticket, which costs hundreds of dollars a season.

If the verdict stands, the result could be a streaming free-for-all with each of the league’s 32 teams making individual deals with platforms games.

I somehow doubt that the fan will get what they want once this lawsuit is finished.    A fan that is out of market wants to flip on a TV, choose the game, pay a 1 time cheap price for that game, like renting a moving $3.99 or something.    Then done.  No future canceling, signing up for multiple weeks or a whole season.

That's just not how this stuff works.  The resulting product post lawsuit probably look like cord cutting today.  A complete fucking mess.     There's always going to be some sort of bundling of crap because the provider can't make money off singular offerings because of the distribution rights they pay.

I'm also guessing sports bars are fucked afterward.  Most that I've visited mark the TVs and have a section of fans occupying that section.  I doubt its going to be cheaper and easier for them post lawsuit to do what they are doing now.

Hopefully it will be, but I doubt it.

The more interesting part will be paying of the fine.  Do the owners try to get salary cap reduction?  I would say the fine they are paying it really a rebate on the revenue they collected during those years.  So will the cap go down since its based on league revenues.

What if a 1 time rental fee approached the cost of a lower level ticket?  $150-170 per game?  Hard pass for me.

3. Is probably my biggest fear.    I know its in jest but if you remember Palmer and his elbow.    At first, its no big deal.  Then one day your tailgating get ready to whoop the Giants ass and after 11 am you hear Carson isn't active.   What?   Then he needed some time to get back up to top QB.

He's due to have a drama free training camp, I just hope wrist issues don't pop up.   I know they've given reasons for the brace pre game, but its just weird.   Joe has some brace, then pops his wrist on a non contact throw.

I was taking a look at the schedule and the games I'm most interested in catching down at the stadium are:

Week 1 (Patriots)-  It's week 1.  There really shouldn't be an explanation needed.
Week 3 (Commanders)- Monday night at home against Jayden Daniels.  I love Monday night games and want to see the kid play
Week 8 (Eagles)- This could be an early look at a potential Super Bowl matchup.  It should be a really good game.
Week 9 (Raiders)- My buddy and our families always catch Raiders games together.  Always a good time.
Maybe week 17 (Broncos) but it will depend on how the season shakes out.

I hate seeing the division games live due to the stupidity of the fans.  Those games seem to be more ignorant than most.
The only road games I may see is if they go on the road for the playoffs.  Outside of that, probably not.

I'm planning a couple of road trips with my son to catch the Texans this year though.  Always a lot of fun.
Couple that with Friday night high school games and Buckeyes games on Saturday and life will once again make sense to me.

"TOTAL FAILURE" are the only two words that can come close to expressing how I feel about this season.

Looking back, I was pleased with the Geno Stone, Zach Moss, Mike Gesicki.  I thought the additions of Sheldon Rankins and Vonn Bell were at least solid.
I hated to see DJ Reader and Tyler Boyd leave and God knows the missed Reader in the middle of the D-line.
Trent Brown was a risk from the start and ended how many thought it would.

I liked the Mims selection and he has a rookie season that has been better than what most thought he would give.
The two DT's taken with Jenkins and Jackson have gotten snaps, but neither is a stand out at this point.
I liked the Burton pick, but it appears his two cent head got in the way more often than not.
Erick All had really good moments this year, but injuries followed him from college to the pros.
Still don't like the Josh Newton pick regardless of how many snaps he's gotten.
Everything else has just been everything else at this point.

My biggest irritation, with 3 games remaining, outside of more than likely not making it back to the playoffs is....
The Bengals wasting what should be an MVP award for Burrow this season.
While I understand the record of the team doesn't support it, his accomplishments this season are simply incredible.
He leads the league in attempts, completions, yards and touchdowns with a 107.1 passing rating.

The fact the defense sucks as bad as it does and cost this team and Burrow dearly, Lou should be held accountable.
He won't be of course and all this time and talk will be for nothing.
Bring on 2025 !!!

I think they split with Cleveland and lose to Tennessee, but beat Dallas. So I'll go 13. If they don't at least hit 11 in the win column some heads need to roll.

13 wins HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I kill me sometimes. At least 11 or heads will roll AHHH-HAHAHAHAHAHA! *snort* What a fucking joke this organization is.
