AMPHAR
Bring home the Zeitler. Also with the tag of Williams they are speculating Dalvin Tomlinson the other DT will be on the market. I'd take him too.
membengal
This is the likely ceiling on a Thuney deal that strikes it rich:
HoosierCat
A little more detail on possibly using the tag via Hobs. Quote The team has yet to make a decision about using the franchise tag on one of their free agents. The deadline is Tuesday at 4 p.m., but Tobin cited reports it may be pushed back. Plus, he said, the Bengals have yet to receive a final salary cap number from the NFL and want to use the info to make the final call. The two prime candidates are pass rusher Carl Lawson and cornerback William Jackson III.

TJJackson
I don't really have any sympathies for the FO or the Brown family...... ...but... ...it really shouldnt be possible/allowed for a sports lrague to set a deadline to place a tag when the cost of said tag remains unknown
membengal
We know the tag. Was going to be 15.9 for Lawson and 14.9 for Jackson if they had gone that route. IF they had gone that route, that is immediately unavailable money under the cap - the full amount.
TJJackson
I read several times that the caps numbers werent known.....hmm gonna go back and find a reference on this and edit it into this post.......brb edit: nope, it looks like I read something COMPLETELY wrong and in any case I cant find it....sorry
AMPHAR
NFLPA was pushing for a delay because TV deals are about to be renewed at a larger rate which would grow salary cap I. Future years. My guess is they were trying to buy some time for tag candidates that were close to long term deals or maybe trying to get some future growth into this cap. TJJackson
Oh crap, sorry, it was just a few posts back, in the post from Joisey that quotes Hobson....it mentions the unknown cap numbers and pushing back the cap deadline
HoosierCat
Something tells me they won’t be exercising that option with Price...

TJJackson
I want this WR. W A N T https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/31039226/buffalo-bills-release-wr-john-brown-dl-quinton-jefferson John Brown 5'11" 180 4.34-40 33r/458y/3td PFF 70.3https://www.pff.com/nfl/players/john-brown/8726 he did have some injury issues last year and is a little older than I'd prefer at 30, but these should keep his price down. shouldnt be too expensive, was productive, has the deep speed we need, and just got released It is my understanding that since he's been released, he can be negotiated with right now.....no need to wait til the 15th I see him as 1-2 year rental and filling our immediate need for a deep threat
TJJackson
also Zeitler just got cut. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/31039943/new-york-giants-release-kevin-zeitler-clear-salary-cap-space Bring him in now to have Pollack see what he has left, and if he clears waivers and is reasonable on pay, maybe just maybe he can be a Bengal again

TJJackson
I dont think Norwell is a certainty to be released The Jacksonville coach was Norwell's coach at OSU and spoke out about how much he likes Norwell as a player https://www.si.com/nfl/jaguars/news/5-observations-on-urban-meyers-pre-fa-press-conference However.....if he is released, and clears waivers, count me as VERY interested

AMPHAR
Fisher blew his achilles out in the AFC Champ game. I don't think he's signing long term any where as that injury would collapse his current value. Probably a small get healthy prove it deal. TJJackson
You know, we havent been talking much about Corey Linsley in this space But we should be https://www.pff.com/nfl/players/corey-linsley/8796 I think the reason we haven't been talking about him is.....well.......Hopkins Because Hopkins (PFF: 63.8) has been relatively good, we tend to think of that position as in good shape. But 63.8 is kinda, well, average-ish. Which given most of the rest of our options is really damn good :-) So consider for a moment that not only can Hopkins play OG, but he has been decently good when played there. If you shift your thinking to Hopkins as a Guard, the Center spot opens up, and then you take a look at Linsley and his 89.9 PFF Rating. Thats right, 90. Nine-tee. well, ok, 0.1 off, but cmon. Ninety. The other OGs we are talking about arent even in the 80s. Thuney is in the seventies. If you sign this guy, you'd shift Hopkins to ORG and Hopkins would serve as a high-quality backup at OC as well, in case Linsley were to get hurt. This also gives us the luxury to let Hopkins get to 100% healthy, with Price (or a top shelf draft pick) playing ORG at the start of 2021 instead of OC The only real downside on Linsley is his age. He will be 30 when the season starts. But I think with how high his level of play is right now he could start to lose the battle with Father Time and still be very good in three years More good reads on Linsley https://packerswire.usatoday.com/2021/02/16/making-the-case-for-and-against-the-packers-re-signing-c-corey-linsley/ https://packerswire.usatoday.com/2021/01/08/packers-c-corey-linsley-named-first-team-all-pro-in-2020/ https://nflspinzone.com/2021/03/11/corey-linsley-free-agency-landing-spots-2021/ so my new favorite "Guard" to sign right now is Linsley. I think he'll sign for about the same money Thuney would, but give us more bang for our bucks. Gimme a 3 year deal (36M-ish) or a very front-loaded 4 year deal (45M-ish)

TJJackson
Carl Lawson was on a podcast with Paul Dehner today https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/exclusive-carl-lawson-joins-htpg/id1477129521?i=1000512572707 takes: 1. none of the tweets that some thought related to the tag or other negativity were about problems with Cincinnati 2. Cincinnati is the front runner to get him signed 3. but yet, Cincinnati hasnt begun negotiating with him I have no idea how item 3 is even possible. The FO is even shittier than I thought they were (and I have never felt good about them, to be diplomatic) if thats true

AMPHAR
My guess is Lawson is doing PR before the kick off of free agency. Yes, the Bengals want me so you better come quickly with that offer type stuff. It's a deep edger rusher FA class and he's not the top guy, so his market could get tighter than expected.
