Fournette was released, but will pass through waivers prior to becoming a free agent. Wouldn't Reiff be in the same boat or is that because he's not on his rookie deal ?? Years of vested service. Once you hit threshold (can’t remember) you become UFA instead of wavier wire Fournette becomes UFA if he passes through wavier.

ArmyBengal
A guy I was hoping the Bengals might take a chance on later (OT Trey Adams) was released by the Bills today. Once thought to be a top round talent, had a run of injuries. Talk about a dude who could use a season away from football. Put him on the taxi squad and give him time. ShulaSteakhouse
Their confidence in Finley as a #2 is a bit odd still, I know they like him cause they drafted him, but he was so bad last year, even behind a bad o-line as a rookie. I think the Bengals' traditionally do not value the #2 QB enough. Should've signed a vet that would be good for Burrow to learn the league from, not sure I understand putting a 1st and 2nd year player at QB to go along with a 2nd year HC. They really need a lot of things to go right with that offense this year, there's not much depth and a rookie LT to boot. It makes me lower my expectations, at least for now. AMPHAR
Why are people down on Finley? Rookie. Shitty team. Just way too early.
ArmyBengal
I don’t have a problem with Finley but much like Palmer having Kitna, there’s something to be said for having an experienced backup to bounce things off of.
Stripes
Last year Finley's arm looked weaker than perhaps any I've ever seen in stripes. Every throw he made toward the sidelines was a pick-six risk. That doesn't mean he's incapable of improving and strengthening his arm. Hopefully he has done so. HoosierCat
The Bengals today signed 14 players to the practice squad: -DE Freedom Akinmoladun (first-year, Nebraska) -QB Brandon Allen (fourth-year player, Arkansas) -DE Amani Bledsoe (first-year player, Oklahoma) -DE Kendall Futrell (rookie, East Carolina) -S Trayvon Henderson (second-year player, Hawaii) -WR Trenton Irwin (first-year player, Stanford) -OT Josh Knipfel (rookie, Iowa State) -DT Kahlil McKenzie (second-year player, Tennessee) -WR Stanley Morgan (second-year player, Nebraska) -HB Jacques Patrick (rookie, Florida State) -CB Winston Rose (first-year player, New Mexico State) -TE Mason Schreck (third-year player, Buffalo) -WR Scotty Washington (rookie, Wake Forest) -TE Mitchell Wilcox (rookie, South Florida) All of the players noted above were with the Bengals during training camp. Cincinnati's practice squad currently is two spots shy of the 16-player limit.
COB
Agree that if a team ever needed a vet backup QB, this is that team. If Burrow goes out with injury, we need a player. Finley did his job last year (losing every game to wrap up Burrow) but this year we actually want to win. And I hope Jonah Williams can walk on water, as the Brown family seems to believe. Stripes
Not sure if this was already posted, but I hadn't seen it. Redmond is gone; Shaq Calhoun is in from Miami. https://www.cincyjungle.com/2020/9/6/21425173/alex-redmond-shaq-calhoun-deion-bengals-cuts-dolphins-news-nfl-waiver-wire?fbclid=IwAR0fTYtBokiZIqWoJHmhjQ5noguVvIaiYTH6rRZeNAodFYb4nlfpLIowKBk I have no idea if this is an upgrade, but it at least appears proactive. Money move mostly I'm guessing. Calhoun's a downgrade on paper, but I guess we'll see, don't expect much and hope he doesn't see the field. I think it's a traditional Mike Brown thing to not pay for a back-up QB, he's all-in on his starter every year - it's that guy or literally bust. I don't like the talent drop-off to Finley, can't see him winning any games, showed nothing last year, his awful #'s bore that out, despite circumstances. But whatever, it's a weird year and it is what it is etc..,
ArmyBengal
It appears the team is pretty healthy heading into week 1. I guess we have COVID and no preseason to thank for that. I’m just left to wonder what the quality of ball we see from all teams will be these first couple weeks. Not that I care much because I’m way excited !!
