Ted Ginn Jr released by the Cardinals ......would he be a fit in Cincy??

I still think the Bengals look to draft a wideout, they like to do it that way ......... but a vet FA would help out the Offence and certainly open up the draft options

Bleacher Report has the Bengals letting Boling and Maualuga hit free agency.

They mention finding FNR's replacement through the draft but will the Bengals take a LB in the first or second round where the player will be required/expected to play and make an impact straight away

At the very end of his latest Choice column, Hobs says the "buzz" is that Geathers will be released. However, he is adamant that they are keeping Peko and basically admits that's because the guys behind him (Still and Thompson) haven't performed. He goes so far as to say it was a mistake to let Pat Sims leave.

A.J. Hawk raise any interest guys?? perhaps on a performance based contract it would add some depth and stability to the LB corps ???

I would kick the tires on Hawk, but he has a lot of wear and tear and is coming off surgery. Reading some Packers fan boards today the consensus seems to be that he was a great player for them, but he's done.

That said, even an elderly AJ Hawk is probably the second- or third-best LB on our team and that's counting Vontaze...

The ruling has come down in the Adrian Peterson case: the NFL cannot apply "new" disciplinary policies retroactively.

This suggests they won't be able to suspend Greg Hardy, so if the Bengals are interested in a pursuit, that's one less thing to worry about. Of course, it probably also raises his price tag, even with the baggage.

Dolphins releasing Brian Hartline.

Color me interested. Very interested.

(and yes, of course, I have this filed under "snowball's chance in hell" but a guy can dream, right?)

You see... What you have to consider is the rookie signings for the upcoming draft and the countless injury settlements which will invariably occur. (NOT!) but those rookie signings bring you guys like MJ, Anthony Collins, Eric Steinbach, Ahmad Brooks, . Those are the players you want to keep as your own. it's the way to protect yourself from too many free agent flop-signing.... Oh wait! We let all those guys go, didn't we? So what happened to the money we saved by not signing expensive free agents? Hmmmmmmm.....

Not sure how genuine the info or reliable the source but if it's correct then this is quite interesting, Bengals have approx $110m committed out of a cap of $151m leaving almost $41m in cap space

Yes, I'd be happy to have him back...but I'm not sure if I would give up anything in trade because his contract is a bit steep unless he's going to start at LG (which could open if Boling leaves).

Right now his contract has four years and $24 million left (evenly split over the years). This year's $6 million becomes fully guaranteed in 10 days. I'd like that number to be closer to $4 million/year.

But contract aside, he knows the system and has played well in it so why not?

I believe based on how poorly Collins performed for Tampa, that no one will claim him at his current salary, so I think he clears waivers, at which point we can sign him for vet min.

I believe he will revert back to being the quality player he was here in 2013.

I'd like to get MJ back as well

I dont want much, do I?

They should just try to get Zeitler extended now, if they cant get AJ to the table

Shorter Hobson: look for the Bengals to sign a bunch of second and third tier guys who won't make the final roster.

Woo hoo! I can't decide if it's "grrrrr and change!" or "change and shit!!"

I just can't fking believe Hobs wrote that this free agent period would be just like one where four of the five guys signed didn't make the roster.

What an ass.

ETA: just to correct myself, three of five did make the roster. Anderson went on IR in week 2 and Allen played 3 whole defensive snaps all season. So woo-hoo.

Still an ass.
