ArmyBengal
I remember when Newhouse came out of TCU and I really liked him then. He didn't do so much up there in Green Bay, but i'm ok with at least seeing what happens. I doubt it's a permanent situation and it's nice to know they have options. Would I have preferred they kept AC ?? Of course, but we've been through this a million times and there was no way they were giving him the starting LT spot when Whit was said to have wanted it back. They weren't paying him that money to be a backup. Lets move on.
GapControl
From what I've read on forums and in some other sites, Newhouse had high expectations coming out of TcU even though he was drafted 5th round. In Green Bay, he became the "spectacular play OR shake your head" type on the line, as far as fans are concerned. I'm not sure what he'll do here, but I would like to see Whit move to LG so I'm rooting for him. His situation reminds me a bit of Rich brahm or even travelle Wharton
BonnieBengal
Vinny Rey ran with the first teamers according to Cincy Jungle. I guess that was today or maybe yesterday. They said not to get our hopes up but fingers crossed that he beats Maualuga out. http://www.cincyjungle.com/2014/6/1/5769504/vincent-rey-ran-with-first-team-linebackers

ArmyBengal
Yeah, I know Packers fans had no interest in bringing him back.Maybe someone here with a little more knowledge about the schemes can speak to whether the Packers and Bengals run the same O-line scheme ??If they do, I would say he's nothing more than depth and that's not a bad thing to have. If not, i'm interested to see what the change for him might be.I don't have some crazy line of thought that he's somehow a probowl player on our line, but I am curious what happens. But yeah, based on what last-name-Rey showed in place of first-name-Rey last season, I'd love to see Vinny get a crack at the starting job. Maualuga has definitely improved since his first couple years, but he's still just a guy.
ArmyBengal
Well there was a lot of talk last year about how many snaps they thought Lamur was going to take away from Maualuga before he got hurt, so him back healthy and Vinny getting a real shot at things could limit those snaps for him. HoosierCat
Early word is that Lamur is the front-runner for the SAM spot. kingwilly
Lamur getting a little bigger is fine. If anything, he will be more durable and able to avoid further injury <hopefully>. I think he will retain his speed as it's not an Antwan Odom-esque bulk up.<cough> hgh <cough> AICAR <cough> Peptides

According to the rumor mill, the last words anyone spoke to him was Margus Hunt saying "No, seriously man, don't make Vinny angry. You wouldn't like him when he's angry." HoosierCat
Hobs:It’s believed that tight end Jermaine Gresham has an injury that won’t prevent him from being ready for Bengals training camp in late July.Gresham didn’t work again Tuesday, the fourth of nine voluntary practices, and indications are he won’t be in the remaining five or the three-day mandatory minicamp June 10-12. Tyler Eifert, the other starting tight end, is out with a shoulder injury that is not related to the stinger that limited him to three snaps in last year’s playoff game and it’s unclear when he’ll return."It's more of a feel thing. It's not a serious injury," Eifert said.Head coach Marvin Lewis wouldn’t elaborate but said he expects both to be ready for training camp. He said Gresham said has been on the premises rehabbing.“He’s just not out here because he’s not practicing. He’s doing what he has to do,” Lewis said.WTF did Gresham do, fumble a bowling ball onto his foot? Line up too far into the street waiting for the walk sign and get hit by a bus?On a serious note, I also saw on twitter today (Harvey or Dehner, not sure which) that TE Alex Smith is still in the house. He's rehabbing at PBS and still has a locker tho he isn't signed.

ArmyBengal
Maybe we can convert Charles back to a TE, ie his natural spot?See, I always thought that was part of why they decided to keep him around. With them wanting to run more 2 TE sets, you have to have depth. What better way than to have one of them man the FB role ??Then again, if that guy can't do sh*t in the FB role and you have to teach him how to do it by showing him tape of the real FB you just cut, you might have a problem.I'm all for getting Charles back in the TE role full time and getting a real FB in here to further aid the running game.Come to think of it, isn't he still pending charges for pushing the dumb-shit-o-meter into the red ??
