I don't think it was directed to me, but I don't think Shula is a troll either.

He has his opinion and he's certainly entitled to it and to voice it here on the forum. That's what it's about.

It just so happens I disagree with his thought process, just as i'm sure he disagrees with mine.

However, I don't think less of him as a person. Shula's a good dude.

I don't want to see Mem go, just like I didn't want to see others go. However, i'm not begging anyone to stay.

I don't think other boards are any better or worse though.

Go to the official site. While I like some of the content, it's very repetitive and a lot of childish crap.

Two each their own.

One quick word on this on my way...I would say Shula (or anyone) is entitled to a reality based opinion. What Shula has done in the past, and what apparently is underway again, is deciding he hates a player (or coach) and then fitting every bad thing he can find into his pre-set narrative. I have seen it for nine years on this board from him and a few others, and, frankly, I cannot slog through another run of it.

Dalton had a pretty damn fine night the other night. That's factual. Ran the west coast offense that he is being asked to run, hit the kind of passes that he has to hit, and hit them in a way that allowed players to maximize YAC. That, in fact, isn't something that everyone QB can do. I suspect when Green gets back, they can also work back in the vertical stuff.

Regardless, to read a screed from him in the face of a 2-td led performance agains the TN #1s, on 9 of 14 passing with a QB rating of 114, well, it will drain the enjoyment of the season if I know I will be reading him bitching over every incomplete pass this year as he looks to mold it into his pre-set narrative on Dalton.

By contrast, COB has articulated worries over Dalton but does so in a way that is, at least, reality based. I disagree with COB, but don't think he goes looking for every little thing to fulfill a narrative.

In any event, after 9 years, I can't take that kind of thing anymore. These are pretty much the best of days to be a Bengals fan, the deepest roster we have seen in 3 decades, the most talent we have seen in at least that long, and a front office and coaching staff on the same page and executing a plan. It is hard to be down about that, but, by god, some will, I suppose. But that, in the face of facts, simply runs me down anymore.

Like I said, I wish a bunch of you well. Enjoy the season, I suspect its gonna be a really good one, and a lot of fun along the way, even in the losses. Enjoy the ride, you all deserve the good stuff.

Peace.

His posting is good at one thing...driving people away from the board. Have a good season, y'all. Used to be fun here.

Be good, skyline, jjak, cob, army, stripes, hoosier and a few others.

Peace.

Thanks Mem. Don't be a stranger.

The Bengals.com forums are flat-out awful. Much better to be here. Even with Agreen/Gizzle here.

Yea I agree that bengals.com board is horrible they cry about the stupidest stuff ever. This is the only bengals board I go too, besides going to cincy jungle. You will be missed Mem, and hope you decide to come back at some point, but if not enjoy the season.

I've never understood leaving a board because of one person. I just ignore that person's posts and go on to the next one. It's really no big deal

I've seen one person derail every thread on a board, and that's a valid reason to leave. I'm not saying that is happening here, just noting that there are occasions when one guy can ruin a board for everyone else.

I would never leave either, but find it hard to ignore people as well.

I don't put people on ignore because then if they are a continued part of a thread you miss out on why the thread goes a certain way.

I just make it a point not to take things personal (even though i've failed at that at times) and just give my input where I can.

Sometimes I can make some good points and sometimes I may be off on my thoughts.

Key is trying not to be an ass in the process. Yeah, i've failed at that as well.

We've had more than our fair share of that here and have gotten rid of them.

I don't think Shula fits that bill.

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that he did. I was simply sharing an experience. I have one word for Sea Ray: mcbearcat

I don't put people on ignore either but guys like Shula don't bother me. I rarely respond to anything he says and after reading one or two sentences I think "consider the source" and move on.

Thanks. And I agree. I don't even bother going there for the latest talk... I think mem will be back soon. It's brutal out there.

Good to see you're still here TJ. Ohhh, you were right about Ocho! Good call.

I know Earendil, wasn't trying to imply you were saying anything. Only commenting myself.

Shula doesn't bother me either, but there have been some here that fit the mold of trying to disrupt each and every thread and they bothered the hell out of me. To such a degree that I have taken time away from the board, but I always came back. Sooner or later people like that either leave or get banned.

Shula has his opinion just like anyone else and while I may not agree, I don't take it personally.

Like I said, I know he doesn't share my opinion in this regard. I doesn't make either one of us right.

Time will answer that question and knowing that he's a Bengals fan, he's probably hoping he's wrong.

If he's right, we are all screwed.

I'll add that I give Debbie Downers a pass where the Bengals are concerned because of our history. If someone says "show me" then I know what their frame of reference is. I think 3 out of 4 playoff years gives us some reason to amend such thinking but that's just me

I don't mean to be a Debbie Downer, I just don't think Dalton's going to be good enough. I hope he is. Other than that first possession, which had me barfing on my Akili Smith jersey, Dalton played pretty well against the Titans.

Someone said he'll throw downfield more when AJ is back, and I think that's how it will play out.

If anyone is refusing to give Dalton credit for playing well against the Titans, it's probably because the Titans D was 32nd in the league last year in points allowed, and 26th in passing yards allowed. Their defense sucks. I go to bed every night thanking the God I barely even believe in for our defense. Dalton doesn't have to be Tom Brady, Just avoid huge mistakes and we can win games.

Overall, I can't remember enjoying a Bengals game more than I did that Titans game. They just looked so physical (other than o-line first series), and executed so well, it made me believe they could win the division this year. I know we don't play the Titans every week, but damn.
