Stripes
Law firm, Bernard, peerman, burkhead is my bet.Agreed.Peerman is a solid backup for BJGE, and Burkhead looks like a solid backup for Gio.
TJJackson
Barring injury (as always) I'm gonna say Burkhead goes to the PS, and one of either Boom or Scott makes the roster, with the other cut loose altogetherSo: BJGE, Bernard, Peerman, Boom/Scott, and (since I dont buy that they'll fill the fullback spot solely with TEs) a Fullback

HoosierCat
Hobs update from this a.m.Safety Reggie Nelson, who was out of the team stuff because of an unknown ailment, stepped in front of quarterback Andy Dalton's pass intended for rookie tight end Tyler Eifert over the middle for an interception during a third-and-long session. Nelson jumped the route so quickly that he had time to point at Eifert with a chortle before catching the ball.Cornerback Leon Hall, limited to individual drills before Monday because of a torn thumb ligament, battled wide receiver A..J. Green to an incompletion on a ball Dalton hung up for Green crossing to the sidelines. Also from the first part of Monday's workout:_Right tackle Andre Smith, who has told the club he's dealing with personal issues according to head coach Marvin Lewis, wasn't here again and has missed all seven OTAs. Veteran Anthony Collins has been getting the bulk of his snaps with the first group while fifth-rounde Tanner Hawkinson continues to get most of the snaps at left tackle for the rehabbing Andrew Whitworth._Right end Michael Johnson had a tipped pass of backup quarterback Josh Johnson on a play SAM backer James Harrison lined up tight in the middle and blitzed._With cornerback Adam Jones (calf) still out, Brandon Ghee was the third corner with Hall and Terence Newman._Zac Robinson, one of the three back quarterback candidates, didn't work Monday but it wasn't known why. TJJackson
Another pattern, albeit this one already actually underway, unlike the Ghee dealio aboveFZ given a big contractFZ immediately underperforms (zeroperforms? fails to perform?) volcom69
It will be interesting to see what happens at backup QB this year. They usually only carry 2 QBs with one on the practice squad, but if they cut Robinson, i dont think any of these other QBs can go on the practice squad so do they carry 3 on game day. ArmyBengal
I can't see any chance in hell of them carrying 3 QB's actively each week. They would probably roll the dice and hope for the best.Considering who they have, I consider that a good choice. If injuries are really that bad, go pick up any of the many guys worse than Skelton and Johnson that aren't employed right now. Sanu give them additional options on the active roster. They have a number of guys (Hamilton, Burkhead, Hawkinson) that will probably not pass though waivers if they are cut. So wasting a spot on the 53 man roster makes no sense when you need room for the future. As for who stays among the QB's I would think it is between Skelton and Johnson with Skelton having a slight edge. Bringing someone in right now or at the start of camp is probably too late. And I agree with a previous post that Zac Dysert would have been a nice pick in the lower rounds. membengal
Skelton is totally new to west coast offense principles, I suspect Johnson has the edge as of now.
ArmyBengal
I did see a point made on (gasp) another forum about the Bengals saying besides what's been reported, they really aren't happy about Smith's absence."Understanding" and "Being happy" are two different things that don't have to coexist, so I can't say as i'm concerned by the report.I will keep that thought process until we hear something definitive because I still think it's speculation until we know for sure. That being said, if we find out his personal reasons aren't legit, then everyone has all the right in the world to bash his ass. After that, it's still a long offseason and as long as he's ready come week one, I won't be complaining about him missing OTA's. TJJackson
I'm at least happy that 100k (Smith's workout bonus for this year) goes back into the kitty to play more deserving players like Atkins

HoosierCat
Back on the RB front, I saw in Hobs' mandatory camp preview today that Peerman has been sidelined for all the OTAs with some injury, so Herron has had an opportunity to shine. Peerman is supposed to be back by camp but given that the biggest knock on him is that he's injury prone, this latest ding can't help his chances to make the squad.
