Wraith Posted March 13, 2013 Report Posted March 13, 2013 And deserved every penny, this team would not have gotten to the playoffs without him. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted March 13, 2013 Report Posted March 13, 2013 Too bad he didn't get more because he certainly deserved it. Quote
kingwilly Posted March 13, 2013 Report Posted March 13, 2013 Burfict with Howard (who they need to sign) and a guy like Maybin or a draft pick like Khassem Green or Cornelius Washington would be great. Not to mention guys already on the roster like Moch or Lamur... LB will look soid here shortly, and Burfict leads the way. Quote
HoosierCat Posted March 13, 2013 Author Report Posted March 13, 2013 I've pretty much given up on Moch. Lamur has some promise as a weak side guy. But they need a badass SLB. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted March 13, 2013 Report Posted March 13, 2013 Yes to Greene in the draft. He's the one I really want to see the Bengals get at the OLB spot. This LB corps could look VASTLY different this coming season for real !!! Quote

kingwilly Posted March 13, 2013 Report Posted March 13, 2013 Good prospects. Guy I want:/>http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/1619684Brown and Greene are converted safeties... good, considering they'd be asked to cover the TE's out there. Not sure he can play SLB, though. I agree he'd be a good pick form r3 on. Might go higher to a team that needs weak side help. Quote
HoosierCat Posted March 13, 2013 Author Report Posted March 13, 2013 Yeah, Joe Goodberry, whose opinion I respect, puts Brown on the weak side too. That said, he also thinks he's worth a top 15 pick so I like him anyhow. Quote

Eleven other Bengals earned over $100,000 — WR Andrew Hawkins ($172,766), C Trevor Robinson ($146,871), DT Geno Atkins ($145,995), TE Orson Charles ($125,660), S Jeromy Miles ($112,483), WR Marvin Jones ($110,538), LB Rey Maualuga ($109,600), LB Vincent Rey ($109,570), S Taylor Mays ($106,738), QB Andy Dalton ($106,169) and OG Kevin Zeitler ($101,435).Is it just me or is it kind of pathetic that guys like Atkins and Dalton are paid so little they qualify for this pool? It just doesn't seem right. Especially on a team that uses any excuse not to spend money... Quote

It just doesn't seem right. Especially on a team that uses any excuse not to spend money...Well, they can make it up to Atkins by extending him at the earliest contractual opportunity, and paying him a big bonus while they're doing so. Dalton? They can let him play out his rookie deal and hopefully have someone ready to push him or take his job at the end of it. Then re-sign him at a reasonable rate. Quote
Kazkal Posted March 14, 2013 Report Posted March 14, 2013 Well Can't really help it with Geno & Dalton they still under original rookie deal.We are just pretty lucky on finding some studs recently. Is it just me or is it kind of pathetic that guys like Atkins and Dalton are paid so little they qualify for this pool? It just doesn't seem right. Especially on a team that uses any excuse not to spend money... Can't we technically resign geno now? I hope once Free Agenecy is over they focus on Extending him & MJ.Maybe he'll come a little cheaper if Bengals come a year early. Quote
TJJackson Posted March 14, 2013 Report Posted March 14, 2013 They thought the work Taylor Mays did was worth an extra 100 grand?geez.did they look at old college film or something instead of Bengals film?should have taken that chunk of change and gave it to Burfict too Quote

There's no panel of judges giving you credit for good plays and downgrading you for crappy plays. Quote
TJJackson Posted March 15, 2013 Report Posted March 15, 2013 well, that explains things :-)here and i thought "performance" (as in "performance based pay) meant just a tad more more than "was on the field for a snap" :-)I'd be happy to go onto the field for a down, dodge everyone as i ran shrieking for the sidelines, and collect 10 grand at the end of the season for doing soNow how I'd get onto the 53 and activated on game day, I dunno. I'd probably appeal to Mike Brown to "redeem" me Quote
Sea Ray Posted March 19, 2013 Report Posted March 19, 2013 I had no idea the league had this sort of program set up. Seems unique to the NFL. How did Taylor Mays qualify for an extra $100K? I don't get that Quote

A qtr of defensive snaps; half ST...Ok isn't that what he's paid (his base salary) for? Isn't that worth $400,000K or whatever the minimum is? Anyway you slice it, he wasn't playing in most of the plays Quote

Anyway you slice it, he wasn't playing in most of the playsThose teams snaps do add up, though. Mays played in a total of 485 snaps last year, which works out to about 30 a game. That gives him the 28th-most snaps on the team last season. He was one of only 31 Bengals to play more than 400 snaps.Bottom line, Mays actually did have a fairly busy year (more so than even I thought) at least in terms of playing time. I suppose I didn't notice because he didn't do a whole lot -- 22 tackles -- to get noticed. Quote
