Bengals Put 5 on IR

And the season is over for:

Travelle Wharton

Brandon Ghee (sigh...)

Shaun Prater

Robert Sands

Taevon Rogers

They also cut:

Luke Black

Aaron Brown

Tyler Hansen

Matt Murphy

They need to make one more cut by Monday. Hobson thinks they'll do that by putting Sims on the PUP list.

Is there any word on how serious the injuries are to BJGE and Scott? I didn't see the game broadcast and haven't read

anything lately on them.

Dont think Scott will be playing week 1.

BJGE was out running today, so my guess is he should be ready for week 1. I doubt they play him in the last preseason game, my guess is he will just practice from here on out.

Ghee goes on IR again??? FFS.

Prater in IR, did we even see what he offered?

I didn't even realize Sands got hurt. Even thinner at Safety now... I hope they snag a safety from the league cuts.

With Scott stil nursing his hand, would they bring in another RB?

Any news on Burfict's concussion. I think he makes this team and ends on on the field qute a bit. Liking the LB group more all the time.

Peerman will be the RB that gets the spot till Scott is ready. Lawfirm, Leonard and Peerman are solid, until Scott gets back.

Burfict played against GB, he looked OK. Did he get another concussion?

Burfict almost came up with another INT in the GB game.

Players on the sidelines were giving him all kinds of love when he came off the field.

Yea he did, and thought he looked really good. I'm actually really excited about him and Muck who think looks really solid. Moch also had looked good as a pass rusher

I hope you're right, because I have never looked at that trio and thought they would be "solid". That isn't really even relevant to their preseason struggles either. That just looks like a bad RB corps to me, and it still would with Scott.

I could be going out on a limb here but I think Burfict might be our best LB covering receivers. (Manny Lawson's up there too). Let's face it, that's a skill we've seen precious little of in recent years. I think they'll figure out a way to keep both Burfict and Muckelroy. Rey-Rey better pick it up because he's going to have two guys gunning for his job.

Shame for Sands - I think this could've been his make or break season

Injury update from hobs:

Running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis (foot) appeared on the field and was cutting while left end Robert Geathers (knee scope) ran and did some drills. Cornerbacks Jason Allen and Adam Jones, fighting muscle pulls, also ran hard on the side, as did defensive tackle Pat Sims with his camp-long hamstring issue. Sims is a candidate to start the season on the physically unable to perform list (PUP) and not be eligible to practice for the first six weeks of the season.

Center Kyle Cook appeared in a boot on the side, but it's believed to be precautionary and not serious.

I was really, really hoping Ghee would find a way to be healthy this season.

At this point, I think he's done as a Bengal - they have to move on

It doesnt hurt anything to give him another chance next preseason, he was looking like a nice backup with potential this year before he broke again. I hate a player that teases with good play and never sees playing time as much as anybody, but there is no reason to walk away now. If he comes in hurt next year or goes down in preseason again, than is the time to part ways. TJ was right there early in his Bengal days, he turn it around and became a very good WR.

Ghee is the new Ethan Kilmer....

Not Bengals news but DeCastro is now IR'd... Pitt line is a mess :)

Another off topic item but with the injuries at RB, and overall ?'s there, maybe they look at a MJD trade. I'd give up an r1 (2013) + and r3 (2014) for the chance to sign him long-term. Dalton, Green + MJD = stomping AFC North.

I don't see anything like that happening unless BJGE gets knocked out for the season.
