skyline
Yep...just like with the secondary. It's gone from being a potential weakness to being downright crowded. Especially if you throw the TE, Charles, into the mix.My wife doesn't understand why I'm acting like it's Christmas around here
jjakq27
Is he better than Brandon Tate? Not sure but if he takes his place I would consider it a major upgrade regardless. As long as they didn't reach for him then I'm good with the pick.
cHaD711Johnson
I pray this guy can (and will) return kicksOtherwise, not too pleased with this pickGreat value pick. 2nd round talent by most scouting reports. I don't get the complaints. He definitely fits our system as well.
COB
I just like his name. "Marvin Jones". He sounds like a middleweight. As in, "Marvin Jones, the no. 3 WBC contender, has the handspeed to give Morales a good fight in Atlantic City in July. But his chin is a question mark, as journeyman Terry Fitzgerald knocked him down in a 7 round no decision last December."

With Dalton, Sanu and especially Jones are HUGE boost to the WR's. Anyone who is questioning is speed will be SHOCKED. I saw Cal games and this guy flys. He ran 4.36 at his pro day. He has PLENTY of speed. 6'2" 200. He is very similar to Robert Meachum or Hakeen Nicks. Perfect for this team.
Stripes
Now do we begin the premature debating about which WRs will make the team? Well I want to. These guys are locks, IMO:GreenShipleySanuHawkinsBeyond that, my favorites to make the roster are:JonesBinnsThat'd make for three outside threats (Green, Jones, Binns) and three slot/possession types (Shipley, Sanu, Hawkins).Whalen is the most capable otherwise. Bye bye Tate.
HoosierCat
I'd say that beyond Green and Hawkins it's a scrum. We don't know where Shipley is in rehab. Sanu and Jones have an inside track IMO, but there's Whalen, too. It will be an interesting camp.
ArmyBengal
Well, if it's a question of "Who makes the team" that's much easier than predicting "Where" they will play within the system.GreenSanuHawkinsJonesShipleyI think the real challenge comes for competing for the inactive WR spot at #6.Whalen and Binns will be the two vying for that spot unless Shipley doesn't make it back.I fully expect Shipley to be ready though. jjakq27
I like Shipley's moxie but I worry about his ability to take a hit and hang on to the ball. Unfortunately it happened a few times at critical moments most notably at the goal line vs the Steelers. I hope he comes back healthy but if one of these new guys beat him out, I'm OK with that. Stripes
I'd like Pac Man returning punts and Bernard returning kicks. Shipley could also be an option for punts.
ArmyBengal
If Pac Man is truly healthy heading into the season, I don't really think there is anyone is who more capable of returning punts. If he can do the same with kickoffs, it would be nice !!! Stripes
If Leon Hall is PUP'd to start the season I think I'd prefer to keep Pac Man away from special teams to keep him healthy as long as possible. Otherwise I'm all for it.
redsbengalsbucks
Just watched this kids highlights and was underwhelmed. He doesnt show anything special, solid backup with potential. I believe this is an insurance pick for Shipley being injury prone. Also checked out Sanu's highlights, he looks to have great hands and very good body control. His physical play, especially in the middle of the field, will be a great addition opposite Green. Looks like he should be more consistent than Simpson ever was. This was some great draft, as a long time Bengal fan it gives me a weird feeling of doom to see so much going in the right direction for my favorite team. I am trying my best to not let that temper my unabashed joy for what this team can do in the next few seasons.WHO-DEY!!!
ArmyBengal
RBB, I think it's hard to say the guy is underwhelming, but opinions are opinions and i'm not bashing. These are the things that stand out to me in regards to Jones:Nice hands.Polished route runner.Better than average blocker.GREAT inconsistency at the QB spot during his time there.I'm absolutely stoked about getting Jones and getting him where we did. I dont see him in the running for the #2 WR spot, unless there is some injuries though.
ArmyBengal
I guess it all depends on how they view Sanu. If they think Sanu is more of a slot guy, Jones has to be the odds on favorite to grab the #2 spot. Either way around, i'm looking forward to seeing it all work out. skyline
I could see Jones #2 and Sanu in the slot. Especially if Shipley starts on PUP.Jones has the speed for an outside receiver and everyone seems to see Sanu as a physical possession guy that's not afraid to run through the middle. GapControl
if you line up green at 1, jones at 2, and sanu at 3 (shipley PUP) then you are talking about a seriously young group. wow... gresham and the rookie TE... this has to be the youngest receiving core in the NFL. ArmyBengal
People are quick to PUP Shipley, but if i'm betting a large amont of money on it, Shipley is ready to go come camps. He's already been running routes and catching passes and is said to look good in doing so.Not exactly PUP line of though, but you never know.I think Jones and Binns will be a nice battle, with each having an opportunity, but Jones isn't going anywhere.
