combatbengal
It looks like TO is healthy and ready to play again. his doctors have cleared him to play and I think he'll be showing teams next week how he looks. Now the question is, do we want him back. I have to say, Simpson drops a lot of balls every game!! I went to the Colts game and he dropped balls that were thrown to his hands... Last season, TO kept his mouth shut and played ball. On another note, there were plays that he just quit on too. I remember one play where Palmer threw and int, TO was right next to the defender and instead of trying to tackle the guy he slapped him like it was a two hand tag game. Is TJ still out there or did he land a job yet. I liked him as a Bengals, always went accross the middle and made positive yards after the catch. However, not sure if he still has it and was he the cancer in the locker room or part of it? What I liked about Green was when the players were being introduced, he just ran out on the field; was focused and ready to play. Simpson came out jumping up in the air like he was the next Chad Johnson. What I do know is that we do need help at WR!
Spor_tees
I have to say no on all accounts. Dalton and Green don't need to be tainted by TO. Sure TO needs money and will probably give his heart to play well, and would probably keep his mouth shut to the media, but what scares me the most is what happens behind the scenes.I think a lot of can now see since TJ left that he was more part of the problem than the solution. Some of the comments he has made on NFL network, and the fact that he was working out with Palmer in California go to show you what the guy was really about.I haven't really looked the lists of free agent WR's but right now I am enjoying seeing some of the young guys get a chance to play and show what they can do. I really can't see a 'need' per-say at WR because I haven't seen something the young guys couldn't do yet. I would like to see more of 'Baby Hawk' in the slot and more WR screens to him and Green. From EVERYTHING I have seen and heard so far, AJ Green is a good kid. He has his head on straight, and this kid just wants to play the game.....I don't want some aging veteran with major chips on his shoulders around Green putting thoughts in his head. T.O. would only hinder the development of Dalton as well, as I can see many instances of not reaching for the ball and "Alligator Arming" it, leading to INT's, accepting none of the blame for it, and breaking the Rookie's confidence. No good can come of bringing in Owens. As for TJ, I'd say look for him to possibly sign with Oakland, as reports were Carson had been working out with former Jets QB Ken O'Brien and TJ Houshmandzadeh for a while. Spor_tees
Well i agree with all of you but we do need to address the position. What's your complaint about guys the Bengals already have?I will admit they do seem to drop the ball quite often, though some of that is guys who aren't used to playing as often and who try to think about what they are going to do after the catch instead of catching the ball first. The second problem is, other than Green, the widereceivers just aren't blocking that well on the outside or for the other receivers after the catch. On a screen play to Leonard, Simpson could be seen standing and watching the play instead of running into make a block that could have popped Leonard for a TD. Other than those points I am pretty happy with what the receivers are doing, and don't see a need for an upgrade.
volcom69
Yea really whats wrong with the guys that are here, i actully like them.If anything they better be looking at LB help!
Stripes
I don't think Owens was nearly the problem he was made to be last year, but I still don't want him.
kingwilly
Who the F started a thread where discussing bringing TO back would be a good idea???Jesus H Keyriced. NO.Simpson and Caldwell do drop too many passes. It does make me think that putting Tate on the field to run some 9 and fly routes would soften the DB's and push the safeties back. How about splitting Scott out wide, or in the slot and firing a quick screen to him?I am not sure it is the lack of WR's as it is developing plays, and using talent that exists, that leverage the abilities of the guys we have. bwillycuse
Big giant NO on TO.I can see where TJ may help but he has completely fallen off the planet. Must have really lost a step. He would have to know what his role would be and to shut his mouth. Be a veteran WR presence ala Hines Ward and that's it. We do have a younf WR core that could maybe benefit from a hard working leader type. Something TJ used to be I think. But most of me feels a big no for both these guys. If you're fine with them missing passes that are placed in their hands and just standing around and not blocking...... Dalton's not perfect but he is putting balls in the right target for Simpson to catch. Even Marvin made a comment about him dropping balls in his post game press conference. I never said I wanted TJ or Owens, just suggested that we need to look at the position. And the guy that said they're not used to playing, that's a bunch of crap too! These guys have been playing football for years JR high, High school, college), they know or should know their jobs, responsibilities, roles, fundamentals, etc... Are they perfect no, are they robots no, but they do drop a lot of passes every game!
walzav29
Absolutely Not. This team finally has a good locker room. I don't want this guy tainting it. You know the more I think back on the Marvin era the last man standing from the bad old days was Chad. He brought that loseritis to the team. I don't want anyone with any affiliation. Horsemen
Well i agree with all of you but we do need to address the position.Address it in the offseason and/or during the draft. Spor_tees
I don't know...I'm having kind of a change of heart after watching TO on VH1. The guy really needs the money, maybe the Bengals could find some room for him. Maybe they could hire him to stand on the sidelines and warm up the QBs before games. Maybe they could hire him to shoot the T-shirts into the stands. Best yet, maybe they could hire him to fix that damn grill all you guys are complaining about! ArmyBengal
F*CK NO. Can we please just move on from this type of player ??Even though he may not have been a huge issue last season, what's the upside to him coming back vs. the downside.Just let the kids figure it out and enjoy players that really love playing the game. I've never watched his show, but I'm curious how quickly he'll bottom out after football.Oh you didn't see the recent clip when TO had another "That's my quarterback" moment when he was seen balling his eyes out telling people he was broke? Then the other day I was flipping through the channels and saw something and stopped to watch a second. I wasn't sure what was going on but some lady was talking to TO and said something along the lines of "Well I'll take your money and just leave then..." TO then got mad and told he to wait. Then an acting coach told TO he did a good job showing some emotion, and the lady responded, "I didn't know I needed to go 'there' to get you to show some emotion."
