COB
He starts writing 5,500 words at 11:15 pm on Sunday night for publication Monday morning? That's actually pretty impressive. Not impressive enough to make me forget he's a Bengal hating, Patriots knobbing, complete bag of steaming douche, but still impressive. BengalPimp
Anxious to hear what Pimp has to say. Because this is what I remember him saying prior to the season:The guy doesn't know the playbook, the system, has had NO PRACTICE TIME. no training camp, no rapport with WR's, TE's, or RB's, has NEVER faced an NFL Defense and came from a TCU program that played it's games against teams like Southern Methodist, UNLV, Wyoming, Air Force, Tennessee Tech, New Mexico, and Colorado State. I DARE YOU to find EVEN ONE player from those schools drafted and playing on an NFL Defense this season. This kid is gonna learn REAL QUICK the difference betweeen the Ravens, Steelers, etc and freakin Tennessee Tech........but hey, hey was "Unflappable" against 1-11 New Mexico....Who was the 1 team New Mexico beat you ask? Why it was 3-9 Wyoming (also on TCU's Schedule)Prepared to start my ass, NO ROOKIE QB would have been "prepared to start" had there NOT been a lockout, let alone now.As a Bengals fan I would like to see Dalton succeed, but I won't try to fool myself into thinking he is even remotely "ready" to start.Nothing fancy Pimp... just one sentence - "I was wrong about him." That's all I'm asking for. How about this? He's played way better than i thought he would. He has also gotten a lot of help from the WR's. Jerome Simpson turning a 15 yd pass into like 84 yards. A.J. Green is every bit the Stud I/we all thought he was.1st game was a little rough, and again, were it not for the WR's he would still average less than 5 yards per attempt. I want to see him air it out more. It's only been 2 games and he has yet to see a quality Defense (see above statement with Steelers, and Ravens).But....I'll be the first to admit when I was wrong. So here it is....I was wrong about him being ready to start (the first 2 games) .....there ya goCredit Jay Gruden as well, because Bratkowski would have destroyed this kid. That said i still don't believe he's the QB that will take the Bengals to the next level, but hope he proves me wrong again....Still waiting to see if the kid has an arm on him....Because right now he's looking like a poor man's Chad Pennington to me. Just Saying.Yes, i will mention it.....the Browns are the Browns and Denver was without Champ Bailey, so Simpson and Green were being covered by Andre Goodman and Jonathan Wilhite....WHO?*Note: I also have to say that Cam Newton has also impessed the hell out of me (at the expense of his RB's)

And that's what good wide receivers do. You turn 15 yds into 50. Maybe you were just too used to chad catching balls and sliding.
ShulaSteakhouse
Give it some more time, so far, so good, for the most part. He does have to find a way to stretch the field better, he's capable of it, but those 59 yards Benson got were too similar to last season for my liking (teams will make him beat them, stack the line and blitz him to death). I hope he improves and stays healthy. He really needs a better pass protecting line in front of him, Qb's are constantly handicapped with that issue here, probably always will be until the philosophy and position coach changes. derekshank
Dalton's undefeated October (including two 4th quarter comebacks) has won him "Rookie of the Month" honors.
gregstephens
Dalton's undefeated October (including two 4th quarter comebacks) has won him "Rookie of the Month" honors.kudos to Dalton obviously, but I wish Cam would have won it.Everybody's now picking this meaningless award apart. "Cam should have won, he has more yards AND he runs," blah blah blah. All this does is add unnecessary pressure to Dalton. Bengals beat the Titans, no one says a word. Bengals happen to lose, and they very well could as Tennessee isn't horrible and it's in Tennessee, now it's all about Dalton didn't deserve to win it.Honestly, I wish the national media would just leave the Bengals alone and let them do their thing. Keep gushing over Newton and Ponder, not that they don't deserve it, and let Dalton prove what he's made of, one way or the other.
Kazkal
Agreed, people also saying if newton was on a better team he would have gotten it.would he have though? Dalton is leading 4th qrter comebacks well newton is wracking up stats in 4th and qrt from team being out of the game...

Obviously he's the best QB ever in the whole history of the universe blah, blah, blah. Not that it has anything to do with Dalton but I am sick of the Cam hype. UK Bengal
This is about dalton not cam Newton he deserves the plaudits dalton has been outstanding for a rook QB with no preseason. I admit I had my doubts but his play has spoken for him, he's confident, unshaken ( see after pits game) This won't phase him he's been a winner all his football life cam Newton can win awards when his team has a winning record. I do belive you win games with points not passing yards. So f**k all those cam Newton lovers
HairOnFire
(((shrug))) From the moment it became obvious that Andy Dalton was worthy of rookie of the year consideration I promptly concluded he wouldn't win the award because the presence of fellow Bengal rookie AJ Green would split the vote. And yeah, that's a good thing.

Started as a frosh at TCU, replaces Carson Palmer with no off-season here. You definitely don't have to worry about this kid being affected by unnecessary pressure. volcom69
One thing about Andy and Lap says this every week, this kid does not get Rattled! Goes into Seattle one of the hardest places to play, and he just goes about his business to get the job done.So while i dont like all the media coverage on Dalton and the Bengals if they ever want to be good in this league for years to come, then they better get used to it. I think this will tell us alot about Andy, not that people are talking about him what will he do, go out like he has all season and not things bother him and lead this team, or go out like he is all mighty and nobody can beat him. If you ask me he will go out and just do his job, because thats the kind of player he is!So these next couple weeks will tell us alot i think. Stripes
He is definitely confident. I think his picks last week were the result of that, his willingness to chuck it up when the Bengals already held a lead. That's not a complaint either. I welcome him to carry on, because as he improves those picks will become incompletions, completions, and touchdowns.I think both Palmer and Dalton are cocky bastards. The difference is that Dalton's confidence has been much more contagious.
