The cut JT-POS, and brought in Dan LeFevour, who'd been cut by Chicago.

My guess is his appeal was familiarity with Martz's offensive style and that connection with Zampese.

At least JT-POS's attitude and crap behavior is outta town.

I think Jordan will do fine as #2

/crosses fingers and toes that CP does not even get so much as a hangnail.

LeFevour seemed like one of the best developmental QBs in the draft this year. He outplayed all QBs at the Senior Bowl. Unfortunately, given the Bengals poor history with developing guys (see Rowe, Bramlet, etc) I wonder how much we can expect from him...

New UC coach Butch Jones was LeFevour's coach at Central Michigan. I'm guessing he might have been recruited and played for Brian Kelly in his freshman year. How funny.

I'm not sure of they view him as a long term replacement for CPalmer but I like the move. The kid is mobile and has a good arm with decent size for an NFL QB. They are taking a chance by only going with Jordan as the No. 2 but that's a risk worth taking. I think JT regressed and always seemed either pissed off or confused in the huddle. I didn't get to see the Colts game so I'm not sure how he looked.

From Lance's blog:

Acquired rookie QB Dan LeFevour (6-3, 230; Central Michigan) on waivers from the Chicago Bears. LeFevour (pronounced "luh-FEE-ver") was a sixth-round Chicago selection (181st overall) in the 2010 draft. He played in all four of the Bears' 2010 preseason games and passed 19-for-41 for 204 yards with one TD and one INT. He also rushed for 38 yards on five carries.

He was a prodigiously productive four-year starter at Central Michigan, the only player in NCAA major school (FBS) history with more than 12,000 career passing yards and 2500 career rushing yards. He had a hand in an FBS-record 150 touchdowns, passing for 102 while rushing for a school-record 47 and scoring one as a receiver. His Central Michigan career passing totals were 1171-of-1763 (66.4 percent) for 12,905 yards, 102 TDs and 35 INTs. He rushed for 2948 yards on 671 carries (4.3). His head coach for his last three seasons at Central Michigan was Butch Jones, now head coach at the University of Cincinnati.

I'm really liking the unanimous elation that JTO is gone. I broke the news to my buddy who's a big Bengals fan and he seemed pretty pumped about it.

Also, Dan LeFevour is a nice pickup as a developmental QB. I really liked him coming out of the draft.

Just pray Carson doesn't get hurt anytime soon. Backups are raw.

OH i am so glad Osucko is gone, he never looked like he was having fun or even broke a smile. With that said im still very worried about the back-up postion, im sorry but Jordan really didnt look any better then Osucko. Only real game he looked good was agaisnt the Colts players who probably arnt even there anymore. Every int he throws goes back to the house lol lol.

Dont know much about the new guy, seemed to be pretty good in college so i guess we will see what happens here. As long as Carson stays healthy then no problems. Im just happy Osucko is gone

Osuckivan's main problem is his career peaked somewhere between 'horrible' and 'putrid.' He can't play and he's too old to have 'potential' any more. So long, and thanks for all the picks.

I still wish we'd have found a way to get a better backup for this year. That and kicker are the only things on the team really giving me ulcers at this point. Which is a good thing, as far as that goes.

Just listened to Clayton on ESPN Radio and he still thinks the Bengals are the lead team for Leinart. It was a discussion about Leinart though and not the Bengals so no mention of Lefevour.

Lefevour has to be on 53 so I dont see the Leinart thing happening. I just think Clayton is in information overload.

Not seeing this anymore, but i guess you never say never!

I watched Matt in every preseason game out here in Arizona. A few times he looked decent, but for the most part he looked awful. You could see defeat in his eyes as he dejectedly wandered off the field one three and out after another. I see him and O'Sullivan as equals. Why bring in a player who is basically no better that one you let go?

If I'm playing Devil's Advocate, I bring him in for upside. He was inherited by Whisenhunt who seems to have resented him since he got there (which you know better than the rest of us, living in AZ). Perhaps that dejection was the product of playing for a coach who never wanted him around. Maybe a change of scenery does him good?

On the other hand, a backup who resents being a backup still isn't a good thing. Though maybe being behind Palmer again would help? I don't think it happens, but if I had the chance I'd at least take him over O'Suckivan.

Leinart and O'Sullivan both look resentful and defeated on the field. Billy said it, why bring O'Sullivan 2.0 in here when we can have a youngster with real potential? What a great move by the Bengals.

My opinion is Leinart will suck wherever he goes unless he gets in a west coast offense. Cards wanted him to throw it downfield like Warner, but Leinert is no Kurt Warner.

I was not a big fan of O'Sullivan; ok I thought he sucked. Don't know this new guy but Palmer JR moves to 2nd string.

The Bengals addressed their backup quarterback situation on Sunday. While the release of J.T. O’Sullivan was somewhat expected, the person they filled the opening with was not.

O’Sullivan was released after they claimed Dan LeFevour off waivers from Chicago. It also means that Jordan Palmer moves up to second string. “I wasn’t sure what was going to happen today so I was keeping an open mind,” LeFevour said. “Luckily I landed in a place like Cincinnati. The transition won’t be that bad. I’m excited to get started and see how I can help.”

The Bengals had scouted Lefevour during the draft process. He talked with offensive coordinator Bob Bratkowski during the Senior Bowl and worked out for quarterbacks coach Ken Zampese up at Central Michigan.

During the Bears preseason, LeFevour was 19-for-41 passing for 204 yards with one TD and one INT. He also rushed for 38 yards on five carries.
