Things I will be looking for....

Improved play by the two QBs (JT and BoC)

Amount of playing time and competency of the backup WRs

The kicker's dual

Yea, I'm not holding my breath on JT and Jordan though. Ugh.

Regardless of the final decision there and at other position groups, some good football players are going to be let go on September 4th when Marvin Lewis trims the fat to reveal the 53 players who will comprise this year's edition of Cincinnati Bengals. It's often a bittersweet ending for teammates and coaches alike each year when final cuts come around. The fact that there are tough decisions to be made, at least from the team's perspective, "is a good thing", as coach Lewis is fond of saying.

I really wanted to watch Dunlap tonight, but i dont know if he is playing. He hasnt been practing, so probably not.

Wanna see more Atkins love watching him play.

I wanna see the WR look good tonight.

I wanna see the back-up QBs actully throw decent balls

Anybody know if the starters are starting tonight or are they just playing back-ups

Beyond the obvious desire for no injuries....

1- I'd like to see the backup QB's play well enough for the players around them to be evaluated. Hasn't happened much so far.

2- Continued improvement from Andre Smith. IMHO he's still struggling badly with the speed of the game, but his last game was a dramatic improvement over his debut. Against Buffalo he didn't visibly tire as quickly as before and because his balance was improved he spent far less time on the ground. But he still shows a lack of power for a man his size and he can't seem to sustain his blocks because everyone is playing a step or two quicker. And like the man said, how about a belt to hold up the fatman's pants?

3- Raynor seems to have let Nugent back into the competition so how about Nugent doing something that puts my boy to sleep for good? Seriously, I won't mind.

4- How about something positive from Marvin White? I mean seriously, if this is what I'm reduced to then give me something worthy of lying to myself about.

5- More nudity (non-specific)

- I want to see Nugent on every kickoff, every field goal try, and every PAT. Continuing my lame preseason motto: f**k Rayner.

- I want to see O'Sullivan move the football foward on the football field in the general direction of the endzone... or field goal range. I want Jordan to throw the ball to players in orange and black stripes.

- Gimme some Simpson, Briscoe, Jones, and Caldwell. IMO Cosby has secured his place with his return skills, kickoff team blocking ability, and even as a receiver. I think Caldwell is nearly a lock and Simpson has the best shot of what's left, but here's one more game in which they can all one up each other.

- Hopefully the corners behind A. Jones on the depth chart can put up some good film and make the final competition as interesting as possible.

- Suddenly people are calling Frostee a bubble player, something I don't see or expect. Still, it's enough to make me hope he does something noteworthy tonight.

If any of those people called Rucker a bubble player are named Joe Reedy, don't pay attention. Guy is clueless.

The only way Frostee is a "bubble" player is if he's not healthy enough to open the season, but even then he will more likely be PUP'd or IR'd.

Why not ask for the winning lottery numbers while you're at it? The only reason most of us don't remember Marvin White being so bad is because the only real playing time he got here was in '08, and everybody stunk in '08. The dude was PATHETIC in Detroit last season, his nickname was "Whiff" seriously, he makes more highlights "Whiffing" on tackles than he does "Hard Hits" which was supposed to be his thing. See what you have been reduced to Hair?????

Frostee

hasn't practiced in a while

didnt play at Buffalo

http://www.nfl.com/l...UF_Gamebook.pdf

has a loooooong history of injury

Marvin has been sending a steady message for a while now - his players need to be healthy enough to play, he's not waiting on anyone

We know you have no love for "The Snowman" but when the dude's on the field, all he does is make plays and be around the ball. His versatility (being able to slide inside at DT on passing downs) is also a big plus.

Yeah, but that's just the thing. Because there isn't a DE on this teams roster that doesn't sometimes shift inside to DT.
