ArmyBengal Posted April 24, 2010 Report Posted April 24, 2010 With their 3rd pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals select:JORDAN SHIPLEY, WR, TEXAS Quote
ArmyBengal Posted April 24, 2010 Author Report Posted April 24, 2010 Hoosier, you can't be unhappy with that huh ?? Quote
Kazkal Posted April 24, 2010 Report Posted April 24, 2010 Hoping for Mardy but shipley doesn't seem bad,But I thought Carson didn't like short WR's Quote
HoosierCat Posted April 24, 2010 Report Posted April 24, 2010 Hoosier, you can't be unhappy with that huh ??Solid possession prospect. Puts Caldwell on notice, IMHO. Quote
volcom69 Posted April 24, 2010 Report Posted April 24, 2010 Hes a great WR and special teams player im happy with the pick, and you never know they still may pick up Mardy and get rid of Simpson.....i hope Quote
Dadraftnick Posted April 24, 2010 Report Posted April 24, 2010 Major bonehead moveShipley ran 4.57Slow Colt McCoy would have been a better moveSo many fast WR and this guy would have been a UFA to late round pick Quote
wpeldios Posted April 24, 2010 Report Posted April 24, 2010 For the first time this draft, I like it. Not my choice but was good value and I think he will be a good player for us. Quote
Kazkal Posted April 24, 2010 Report Posted April 24, 2010 Major bonehead moveShipley ran 4.57Slow Colt McCoy would have been a better moveSo many fast WR and this guy would have been a UFA to late round pickbecause they play as fast as they run a 40 right like chad? Quote
BengalszoneBilly Posted April 24, 2010 Report Posted April 24, 2010 Hes a great WR and special teams playerI expect that is where he'll first touch the ball. Quote
ShulaSteakhouse Posted April 24, 2010 Report Posted April 24, 2010 I am probably in the minority that loves this pick, but would've been fine with Gilyard instead. Definitely better than Caldwell or Jones. Not sure if his speed means anything considering he had 13 Td's and 1,500 receiving yards last year. All I know is the guy was money and very consistent, really liked watching him. Quote
cincyhokie Posted April 24, 2010 Report Posted April 24, 2010 Good pick. Plays fast. good route runner. 4 return TD's. Matt Jones or Simpson is the odd man out. Quote

THis guy is alot like Welker-quick, not fast, can find space in the zone, and runs EXCELLENT ROUTES, something this teams WR's can't seem to handle.I love this pick. Quote
PhunkE1 Posted April 24, 2010 Report Posted April 24, 2010 I know Mayock had a 4th round grade on Ship. but didn't expect him to make it out of the 3rd round. A fast WR would have been a sexier pick, but this is a very seasoned college WR. I like the pick. Quote
BengalszoneBilly Posted April 24, 2010 Report Posted April 24, 2010 I am probably in the minority that loves this pickI don't think so. He looks solid. Quote
volcom69 Posted April 24, 2010 Report Posted April 24, 2010 Hes a great WR and special teams playerI expect that is where he'll first touch the ball.Yep hes back with his teammate Cosby so now they can both compete for the punt return job Quote
Whur CHad At? Posted April 24, 2010 Report Posted April 24, 2010 Major bonehead moveShipley ran 4.57Slow Colt McCoy would have been a better moveSo many fast WR and this guy would have been a UFA to late round pickOh geez a 4.57 40. Wow what a slow kid. Probably the slowest reciever ever to play the game. Geez, so what he is highly productive and efficent and runs great routes, and overall a good football player. But that 4.57, geez terrible. I mean Anquan Boldin ran a 4.7 40 and man he is terrible. Dez Bryant ran a 4.5 40, what a loafer.Just explains why your not a draft expert or GM for any team. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted April 24, 2010 Author Report Posted April 24, 2010 Well, maybe you guys can't be unhappy with that, but I am. He doesn't give us a person to come in and develop into a #1 or even a #2. He's a slot receiver who you hope is better than both Caldwell and Cosby. If he's not a better return guy than either Cosby or Scott, what's the reason ?? Decker could develop into a #2. Hell, Gilyard could have developed into a #2. Taylor Price even. I don't know, but once again, seems like right position, wrong player to me. Quote
derekshank Posted April 24, 2010 Report Posted April 24, 2010 He doesn't have elite speed, but he does have elite acceleration and ability to change direction. I don't think he'll stretch the field, but he'd been compared to Wes Welker and Anthony Gonzalez. He's a playmaker... and one of (if not both) Matt Jones and Jerome Simpson are goners. Quote
HoosierCat Posted April 24, 2010 Report Posted April 24, 2010 and one of (if not both) Matt Jones and Jerome Simpson are goners.Wouldn't that imply that both of them were once "here-ers"? Quote

You cant say he wasnt productive Quote

Dadraftnick Posted April 24, 2010 Report Posted April 24, 2010 Here is the problem with this pickYou could have had him 3 rounds laterIf you fall in love with a guy like this , trade down and pick up picks and its not as badThis guy is a 6th round guyif you like him or not he would have been there in the 6th round Quote

ShulaSteakhouse Posted April 24, 2010 Report Posted April 24, 2010 Look at the move at 5:04, yikes, the defender tore his groin.[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1te2nR2SBE8 Quote
