FWIW, Steve Wyche just said the Bengals showed no interest whatsoever in trading for Boldin.

My roommate asked me last night around 11 if I thought the Bengals were gonna do anythign interesting in free agency, and I told him Mikey had probably already went to bed. :lmao:

Of course not. We're too busy being one of just two teams to show interest in that other Capital-A-hole jack-pipe, and the darling of so many on here...

Hold on there. With Baltimore officially out of the Owens mix the Bengals presumably could wait around and approach Owens only if all other attempts fail.

And though they weren't linked to Boldin they apparently have called about Antonio Bryant, they're one of the teams said to be pursuing Kevin Walter, and the most official of websites says Josh Reed is also an option.

Looking elsewhere, Bobbie Williams says things look like they'll get done, and Roy Williams is even more positive. But Tank Johnson was apparently low-balled so horribly Drew Rosenhaus threw a twitter fit, and broke off negotiations. For the life of me I can't seem to care.

Oh, and Brandon Marshall is getting heavy interest from the Seahawks. He'll visit tommorrow and if he brings his watch with him, well....we all know how that one will turn out.

And scratch Kevin Walter.

He's staying with the Texans.

To be honest, he was expendable when he left, and I wouldn't have seen him as a huge, difference making addition now.

Typically the over/under for the first FA visit to Cincy is about 5 days, isn't it?

(((shrug)))

Again, the Bengals can probably chase their own tails for a days or weeks before settling for TO, and that's an option many of you seem to like.

Personally, my biggest complaint right now isn't in regards to who isn't on their radar, but rather...who is. Because I'm more than ready to move on from the likes of Roy Williams, who stayed healthy for less than a month last season, and Bobby Williams, whose play has slipped for at least two years in a row....a trend unlikey to change.

They better start looking for another pass rushing DE unless they go to the draft for this, because Geathers is just not good enough right now. With the schedule they have next year they better get a better pass rush to help the corners, not to mention more help for Carson. Well hope they soon figure out what they want to do.

Incase anyone was optimistic about our boys doing anything at all, Hobson dropped this beautiful, soul-crushing bit of cheapness.

Didn't get Boldin and people are making it seem like it's the end of the season. It's another aging WR that has had injury concerns. Would he have been better than what we have now ?? Sure, but that's not saying much because as much as I could care less about signing T.O. or not, he's also an upgrade to d*mn near every WR on the roster as well. I'm just not concerned.

I think they continue to wait, as we all knew was going to happen anyway and they get someone later. T.O., Bryant, whatever...

It appears the WR's are less important than making all efforts to sign Hall and JJoe to extensions. If they can get those two extended, bring in a vet WR for a year or two, AND get a WR in the draft, I think you call that a success. I know we want it all and I'm still of the mindset that they could get Marshall, but the writing has always been on the wall and we shouldn't be surprised.

I've got to say that as a Bengal fan these past 7 years since Marvin took over have shown me alot, especially with last season. I'm not too worried with the apprehension the Bengals show with making quick fixes to appease the masses. We know what we have in MB and we know what we'll probably see from him in the future. We've seen some good years in 2003, 2005, and 2009 and some heartbreaking ones like 2006. I can't speak for everyone but for the most part the older fans and the one's on this board are smarter as fans for all of the fluctuation from the last few years. Love it or hate it, it's a good thing. These are better days as a fan....

....or it's just that I'm getting older. Either way, the majority of opinions on this board have been a welcome change from some of the pure fear driven overreaction that we may have seen from the majority of Bengal fans in the past. For that I tip my beer to those on this board. Good post, Army.

That's what they tried last year and it was a spectacular failure. They need a good possession receiver to replace TJ, and they need a guy who can get behind corners on a go route to replace Henry. They need better than waiver wire slag if they want a passing game better than last year's.
