Stripes
We've had a little turmoil on the field in recent weeks, but let's reflect. The Steelers and Ravens played for the AFC Championship last year. The Bengals won four games. Pundits nationwide ignored Cincinnati and debated between those two perceived powers throughout the offseason and into late October regarding who would take the division. But our Bengals kicked both of their asses twice and won the division instead. Who f**kin' dey.

semiotter
Well I hate we lose another player. We played worst half of the year but we won and that's all that matters. And now let's get healthy and go man go!!!

wpeldios
Congratulations to the Bengals on the championship. Was a bad game, but a win is a win. I know i've said a win is a win a lot this year, and I will continue to say it as long as we are winning.Just gotta complain about a couple things. Bratkowski is awful, just awful. And Huber needs to step it up. I thought he was supposed to be great at pinning people back. He is 23rd in punts inside the 20, and has the second most touchbacks in the nfl this season. I just expected better. Guess he is still a step up from Larson. volcom69
Heres my thing that i just dont get. These teams are putting 8/9 guys in the box sometimes, why is Palmer not audibling out of the run and go to the pass at all. It seems like this year they have handcuffed Palmer and dont want him to make any desicions. In 2005 Palmer would come up to the line make his adjustments, change the play, go no huddle, why wont they just let Palmer do his thing? Palmer is not the same guy, its like he is not seeing the field as good, but i cant understand what happend to them giving him 3 plays and he chooses which one he wants after he sees the defense?Just curious what you guys think on this.Oh the game sucked, but im just happy to win the division. gregstephens
Story of the season. Most of our games have been ugly, win or lose. But, second division title and playoff appearance of the decade. Beats the 90s. On the positive side, I think we play up to the better teams. We can hang with the playoff teams. Might be one and out, but it won't be a blowout, imo.

JoePong
Any time this sorry-ass offense can score 2 offensive TDs in one game, it's a fantastic week. 17 points!!! Woo hoo! When is the last time we scored more than 2 offensive TDs in one game? That's about as much as you can expect out of this team, I suppose. It doesn't matter how good or how bad the opponent is. We won't win a playoff game, but at least it's good to be in the post-season.
membengal
Win's a win. And they won.I'll take it. Playoffs. Not in a million years did I think they had a chance at that when the season started.Fair play to them, it has well exceeded my expectations. kedgey
We won and that is all I wanted.Division and post season secured and potentially we will end the regular season 11-5 despite some defiencies.I don't fear any team in our first post season game with the exception of Houston (who have given us two successive ass kickings) if they were fortunate enough to have all the results fall for them to get in. Enjoy it people.Running game was secure , Palmer came up when it counted to get the W. We grind a win against a lesser team in a season where the little guys have given the big boys a bloody nose.See chiefs and raiders on steelers, tampa today, carolina last two games, raiders on the chargers early in the season etc etc.Lets enjoy it - get guys like peko and crocker healthy and lets see where this team takes us.We can talk trash on the lack of offense today and look to last weeks game where our game on offense looked good. However we won today and lost last week and I take the win every time.

These are KEY players. Also, this team burned quite a few matches last week at SD and dealt with the entire Henry tragedy in the past 11 days. That is a lot of stress and effort in a short span.Good on them for winning the division. Amazing. Now, lets talk about Carson and his waterlogged arm. I think something is amiss. kedgey
not really sure if it's carson or a combination of having mediocre pass protection which causes us to scheme differently from say the 05 season coupled with not having a legit deep threat.Anyways will savour the division win. I will also look at in the manner of had the stealers or ravens clinched the division winning 17-10 at home to me and my eleven buddies it would be looked upon as job done. Lets just be happy and trust our coaches to twek things enough to get the W's as they have this season.p.s i know it's hard with brat and he infuriates but sometimes he gets it right though it is time to change. JoePong
Now, lets talk about Carson and his waterlogged arm. I think something is amiss. No doubt. Just looking at his passes comapred to some of the top QBs in the NFL and there is an obvious difference. It's like comparing a high school QB to a top notch college QB. The amount of time his passes hang in the air is just sad, especially on passes to the sideline.

I still think the coaches here have him hand cuffed and wont let him run his plays. How do you run it when there is 8/9 guys in the box, its the best time to throw over there heads, but they dont. He is not the same QB, and that does worry me some. Today was a day when they didnt have all those drive killing penalties, but yet the offense couldnt even move the ball agaisnt the 30th ranked defense. I dont get it, but then yet can have a 98 yard drive at the end. ???????? i just dont get it.

COB
I dont get it, but then yet can have a 98 yard drive at the end. ???????? i just dont get it.Good teams find a way to win. Also, constantly pounding the ball during the first 3 quarters is frustrating to watch, but all turns beautiful in the 4th quarter when their D-line and linebackers are worn down. Only works when you've got a great defense, though.

I dont get it, but then yet can have a 98 yard drive at the end. ???????? i just dont get it.When he came to the SD press conference with a bag of ice on his elbow.... aha.He does fire the ball and make some of the throw he is known to make, but the deep pass to caldwell was underthrown. The times this year when I have found myself wondering if it is his arm, he usually comes back with a laser to Chad and I chalk it up to something else. But now, I think it is his elbow. Perhaps he is on a pitch count, and knowing they might need his arm for later in a game, the run-heavy and sometimes iditotic playcalls are a symptom of this handicap? There are too many bad calls, either way, and I feel this team would be better with someone else calling the plays, however Carson's arm is not where it needs to be.@Pong, watching Freeman today, and Brees just jetting the ball around, firing laser after laser, and comaring it to Carson(I watched the game at a place where TB/Sants were the game on the next LCD), most times it is a big and glaring discrepency in arm power/accuracy. Only works when you've got a great defense, though.Maybe this is the formula. It has netted 10 wins, with 2-3 of the losses (Denver/Oak/SD) as "shoulda/coulda" wins.... It is not the most stylish of formulas but I don't care. Playoffs, baby.If this team can find its way to get a top WR (Marshall, Floyd or make a deal for Boldin) and DE (Kampmann, Peppers), and let Coles, Bobbie W., and Geathers go), they could be doing this for years to come. SoP is far to thrifty, and considering this year as the validation that the "Scrap heap" theory works, I doubt we'll see any of those moves. Utecth is gone, probably Kelly as well. I think B. Williams has degraded, and a guy like Livings or Luigs could move to RG.I'd like to see them lock up Cedric and LJ...they can coexist and they both have roles...gotta get a better scheme where they will be leveraged, rather than Brat's role.I would make a run at Boldin, offering an r1 and a guy like Mathis or Roland... I would make a run at Marshall. I like Kampmann, he needs a new environment...he could be the Joker that they wanted with Pollack. Move Rey inside, get Kampmann and Brandon Johnson on 3rd down with Fanene, Michael Johnson and Peko...sick blitz options, just sick. Hopefully Odom comes back near 100%.This is when you look and see that the "Scrap Heap" approach gets you to a point, but you doo need to build from outside at the high end of the pay scale. COB
I would make a run at Boldin, offering an r1 and a guy like Mathis or Roland... Done. If they can pull that off, they'd be getting one of the best receivers and probably the toughest guy in a league full of tough guys. He's also the type of guy this locker room can use. Maybe he can mentor our almost-bust second rounder. The guys in there now sure aren't doing anything to bring him along.
