COB
Anyone who just assumes the Bengals will lose those games hasn't watched the Bengals this year. Our low point totals are a result of two factors - First, getting a lead and running the ball to keep it from the other team, burn the clock. Second, many many drives this year have been stopped by penalties. If we make it to a reasonable third down, the offense usually converts and keeps the drive going. If we minimize the penalties, and we've done it in a couple games, like Chicago, we can compete with a high-powered offense like Minnesota. When will Minnesota have their division wrapped up, if they don't already? They could be in avoid-injury-mode by the time we play them, and we may not see the best they have anyway. Okay, plan B is the Vikes keep the accelerator on the floor, and by the time we play them, Favre's arm falls off. Then we can bring the safeties up to stop their freak running back. The other potential way to look at it is that the Vikes surely peaked early. Remember the 14-2 Chargers team? Remember the Ravens season last year, only to lose in the conference championship game? A lot of these teams with incredible records that get the 1 seed end up, in my opinion, just running out of gas. Know how many 1 seeds have won the Super Bowl in the last 10 years? Only 1, the '03 Patriots. Then look at some of the Super Bowl winners who just got hot at the end of the year. That could be us.
ct_bengal
i like the way the bengals matchup against minnesota, the corners are better than their receivers and if favre is pressured he will throw picks. if cincy stops peterson (which they should) without his playaction favre can't throw on these corners. i would be more worried about shancoe than rice or berrian. my friend is a huge vikings fan and i made a 2 bets the beginning of the season. That benson gets over 1000yds this and the bengals win in minnesota. Im waiting to cash in on both the same day . football is about matchups and the bengals matchup really well the more i look at it. i think they win in minny. but then again i always come up with reason why the benglas should or could win
ct_bengal
oh yea and minny has also had one of the softest schedules in the league this year

I think if they can get that with the front 4 or through the blitz then they can get Farve to make the mistakes. I agree they need to stop Peterson also, it will be tough but if the Bengals are for real then they should be able to keep up and be able to beat Minn. derekshank
The other potential way to look at it is that the Vikes surely peaked early. I agree that the Vikings have peaked too early. Same with San Diego. The only problem is that doesn't really benefit us right now, because we are playing them while they are peaking. The last two weeks the Charger and Vikings have played about as well as they can play. If the Bengals can go there and shut them down, the world will take notice. And hopefully they will start slumping, just like the Steelers did after the sweep.
HairOnFire
Has San Diego peaked? Not sure about that one, but they are dinged up a bit already.....enough so to dictate a change into more 4-3 fronts than before. The less talent you have the more you attempt to do with scheme and numbers, right? Weddle is supposed to be back by then, but may be limited, and without the juice "Lights Out" is going dark again.(Insert your own punchline HERE)
membengal
Have the Vikings peaked? Or are they the beneficiaries of a schedule that has been full of cream-puffs? Steelers beat them. Ravens should have beat them. The two Packers games were weird because of the emotion. Beyond that has been a succession of teams that are less than scary.I think the Bengals will give them all they want.
Stripes
I think the Bengals will give them all they want.I think so too. Matchups ought to dictate that the game progress rather similarly to the game in Pittsburgh, with two of the best run defenses in the league limiting two of the better running offenses. It'll be another grinder, which is unfortunate in that the team must go out to San Diego immediately thereafter just like they had to go to Oakland. But before all of that... Let's clobber the Detroit Lions.
walzav29
Obviously we're not pro's, but when I think of how much I looked past the Raiders and basically thought of Oak, Cleve, and Det as bye weeks. How do players not do it? It seems like such human nature.
HoosierCat
At this point, it would be foolish to write off any game -- or, for that matter, to assume a win against even the weakest foe. The Bengals have shown themselves capable of defeating top-tier teams, and losing to bums.

The Bengals have shown themselves capable of defeating top-tier teams, and losing to bums. This is why im suprised not to see anything on the Lions at all, its like everyone hear skipped over that game and went right for the Viks, and Chargers game. With Detroit coming off a mini bye, with Peko now out for this, lets hope the guys remember they have a game on sunday. If they blow out Detroit then ill be ok, but if they struggle to get a win, or to pass the ball i might be alittle scared coming down the stretch here. I dont know much about Detroits team, but they will give the Bengals all they have, and if they are not ready then im afraid its going to be harder then what people think. Its ok for us to look ahead, but lets hope the guys come out looking for a fight on Sunday and take care of business. What do you expect? The Bengals are about to play their 3rd game in a row against an opponent nobody respects.
