derekshank
Speaking only for myself, I long ago stopped caring very much what the pundits thought, though I enjoy calling out egregious BS, like Pete Prisco's lame attempt to scramble back onto the bandwagon after he leaped off following after week one. It's nice to hear good things about the Bengals...but to me it's even more enjoyable watching the media tie itself in knots trying to justify pooh-poohing the team's success. The Bengals are good, and they can't stand it! It's driving them absolutely bugf*ck! Every week, it's the week the Bengals turn into the Bungles again...and they just keep not doing it! There is steam coming out of the media's collective ears. Will you lose already and validate our own self-important opinions!I love this season. I agree with this sentiment too. There is a certain amount of humor involved in listening to a stubborn dickface explain why the Bengals aren't "for real."The fact that Mashall Faulk, Warren Sapp, Mike Golic, or any other "talking head" doesn't believe in the Bengals doesn't really change anything, does it? But I still reserve the right to draw attention to their bulls**t. If that makes me whiny, so be it. But I like listening to sports talk, and my emotional investment in this team does at times cause me to get upset regarding said bulls**t.So... Marshall, Warren, Mike... F**k You!!! derekshank
And, really, you can't understand why it is nice to hear nice things about the Bengals, really? That is beyond you? You are smarter than that, greg. Further, what do you care that some people would like to hear decent things? Why does that bother you? And, clearly, it does, because you never fail to jump in these threads and tsk tsk over such conversation, so well done at doing so again. It really does come off as a "holier than thou" attitude.I'm a Bengal fan. Part of being a fan of any time is being able to enjoy the times when everyone else isn't pointing and laughing at the mediocrity (for some that is less often than others). So, here we are. The Bengals are relevant this year as opposed to last year when I had to show up to work every week and admit that "Yeah, we suck." Is it so wrong for me to want non-Bengal fans to recognize the achievements that have made? Is it somehow an unevolved desire for me to want a Steeler fan to note, "Damn, that defense is stingy!" The Bengals are no longer the NFL's whipping boys. And whether or not the media as a whole is as optimistic as I am, it is nice to hear an intelligent opinion that doesn't bash the Bengals because of their past. It's also nice to be able to come here and talk about it with like-minded Bengal fans without someone trying to make it seem like I'm being petty or insecure. Because I'm neither.Derek, my beef was never with you. It wasn't with the sarcastic, condescending j---off either until he became his condescending self. I do truly apologize if somehow my point of view, that I was trying to express respectfully, comes across in some manner that offended you.Actually, not really. I'm getting kinda tired of how some of you guys treat any opinion that differs from your own, and no, I still don't care what the talking heads think or say about the Bengals. If you do, great. Knock yourselves out. I'll enjoy the season, you listen to the talking heads.I never said you offended me. But you did come in and basically claim that this thread was a waste of time in so many words.I disagree.

Kazkal
I can't even stand NFL network and all the new people they have...I enjoyed it when it was mainly Rich Eisen,Rod Woodson,Mooch & Deion but I hardly see any of them on it anymore.PS,I know Rich,Mooch & Deion do The Sunday finale but don't catch them weekly anymore...Maybe I'm just watching it the wrong days. I'm more of an Eddie Izzard, Simon Pegg kind of humour guy.I do like Steve Carrel though.Plus Milk Duds. You guys have football and Milk Duds. Don't sell yourselves short. volcom69
These are all reasons why i dont listen to much of the bull crap during the week or on game day. Why listen to things that dont make sense. We know the Bengals are playing hard and playing good at this point, but we also have to realize that there is alot of season left that anything can happen. The way they have played the last couple of weeks, against the division teams was just amazing, but now can that keep this emotion going into teams that can barely win. I believe in the Bengals, weather or not anybody else does i dont really care! Now for me i just want to see what they can do against the not so good teams. COB
I'm glad to hear them talk about the Bengals. Kind of like what Hoosier said, listen to some of those guys twist themselves in knots. Just having the Bengals in the discussion is great. About 5 games into last season, they never even mentioned us. The only time anything Bengal came up was when they were showing highlights of one of the good teams, like talking about their running game or something. Then you'd see the Bengals playing the role of the Washington Generals, getting torched all over the field. That always pissed me off, they wouldn't mention us, just show us getting gouged. Ickey44
For myself, I see both sides of the argument. I like to read good things about the Bengals, too. However, they more these idiots keep doubting us the more motivation it will give the team. That's what Marvin has used to motivate the team this year. Castoffs, nobody believes in you, nobody wants you. I hope they keep saying and writing s**t like that so Marvin has more stuff to motivate them with. semiotter
Dang guys you know all the Talking head so called experts think their are only "3" teams in the AFC!!! That's the Colts, Steelers and Pats God they do everything for these 3 but give them Head (and they probley do that to). So don't let any of those guys get ya all riled up. Just because they were washed up ex NfL has beens. They will never ever think anything but what the Bengals did in the past not how good they are doing now

Because I'm actually a little suprised, and more than a little impressed, by how quickly MOST of the media has embraced the change in the Bengals. Edit: My biggest complaint continues to be centered on how the media continues to use a Chad filter when writing about the new Bengals, thereby ignoring the less well known faces who are far more responsible for the positive changes. COB
[media]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CBEQYnpFrcU&feature=relatedThere are some interesting parallels here. As in the next time my wife serves up cheeseburger hamburger helper for dinner, which will be approximately the millionth time, I'm going to start a riot in my kitchen. I don't have a midget, but I have a 5-year-old son who's about the size of a midget. This is getting spooky.

TJJackson
Who cares about respect in-season?let other teams disrespect the Bengals, and show up less than fully prepared. I'm good with that :-)Respect can come after the seasonPreferably, along with Superbowl rings for our players and coaches

I'm good with that :-)Respect can come after the seasonPreferably, along with Superbowl rings for our players and coachesAs long as that respect actually comes... I can buy this. But I can easily see a lot of people saying it was a fluke. I remember people saying that when the Pats beat the Rams, and when the Giants beat the Pats. I especially remember when the Buckeye's beat Miami, people complained that the best team didn't win.I'm not saying that will happen, but I get tired of the bulls**t commentating. Is this what sports talk has come to? People going out of their way to be controversially negative?
TJJackson
Well, keep in mind is that the commentators main job is to draw an audience, and sometimes one draws an audience by saying extreme negative things, which creates reaction, which in turn pulls in viewersServing the truth = no ad revenueServing up whatever pulls in viewers = ad revenue
kevnz
Hellfire and damnation! The only respect I want to earn from the media is the respect that goes along with being Super Bowl champs. They're just talking muppets really. It's real simple for the Bengals to get respect. Go out there and win. Do it with class like they have been doing and win the F'N super bowl. Then the media will be bending over kissing the teams ass...
