What they are saying in Baltimore-part II (merged)

Damn, that makes me want to get the NFL Network really badly. I like watching those breakdowns on that show, and Billick is pretty good at it. The Hamburger Helper slinging ball and chain better start giving in on this one.

You don't need NFL Network for the videos. Just NFL.com:

The playbook vid isn't posted yet, but they usually go up fairly quickly after the show airs.

Well they think the Ravens will shut the bengals running game down this time, because the last game the Ravens were flat. Now after the bye they are playing in better postion on the defense, and will shut down the bengals run game.

Which opens up the passing game when they put eight in the box, and exposes their weak coverage. I say bring it bitches.

True that,If they wanna focus on the run we can let Carson Torch them...Let them set all eyes on Cedric ^_^...

PS,For those mentioning the crummy record after bye week,Different team...

Yeah that's what I'm saying. Our O-line matches up too well and has been playing too dominant to think their D-line alone will stop the run. If they put 8 or, gasp, 9 in the box (they did this several times last game by dropping a safety) carson will deftly audible the play away from the safety or air it out. Our offense matches up in favor of the bengals so I say bring it ravens. We aren't afraid to pass it babies and they're going to have to load the box to stop cedric. Should be interesting.

Thanks for that tip Skyline, I didn't know they posted those videos so quickly after they air. It's already up on NFL.com and I checked it out.

What I don't get is how Baltimore fans consider the Bengals a gimme. I mean since Marvin has been the coach we've owned them.

That is a real puzzle. But I cannot stress enough just how much the people in this town are taking this one for granted. Again. It's like the desperate win over Denver cured all Baltimore's defensive ills.

We shall see.

It would be hella good for hokie and myself, as the two posters based in or near enough baltimore to deal with ravens fans and raven talk, for the Bengals to win this. Oh, and good for the Bengals too, I suppose. But, as always, it's about me, first. So, just win Bengals. Hell, go ahead and blow these f**kers out.

You know, watching the NFL playbook, and listening to ESPN radio and Sirius the last few days leads me to the following conclusion:

If you asked the typical media talker how the Ravens vs Bengals matchup generally goes, they'd likely answer that the Ravens own the Bengals. I'm not sure where it comes from, but the Ravens still have this reputation as big bad Baltimore that kicks sand in the Bengals' faces. To his credit, whicher Sharpe brother is on that Playbook show posted up a graphic showing Carson is 7-3 versus the Ravens. I doubt most media commentators would even believe the Bengals have beaten the Ravens 7 times.

Good point COB... It doesn't make any sense. Maybe it's because Baltimore ALWAYS shows up for the BIG games. This game is huge, we BETTER show up.

From D. Mason, he must be trippin!

The first six or seven games of the season, those guys have been fairly healthy, and it has shown because theyre playing lights out on defense, Mason told the Baltimore media in reference to the Bengals defense. Now, they have a few injuries here and there, but theyre still playing well. I think thats been the biggest thing for them, is that theyve been able to keep guys on the field. Youve got to understand that theyve got a bunch of first-rounders on that defensive side of the ball. Now, when you can get all those guys healthy and playing, thats going to be a very good defense. Coach [Marvin] Lewis has those guys playing.

You cant cover me single coverage. You cant. It hasnt been done in 13 years, and it wont be done, Mason said. But it is what it is. You try to take advantage of coverages and how they play you. But Cincinnati did a good job, a very good job, the first game at totally taking me out of the game. In the back of my mind, I just need to go into this game, work a little bit harder, find a way to, if they choose to do that again, find a way to get open. If not, then other people will be open. One person, it wont happen. But with two or three ... two is a possibility. Three, Ive got to work a little bit harder. Four, then Mark Claytons open, Todd Heaps open, Kelley Washingtons open, so I dont mind.

Yeah - Most everyone is taking baltimore and giving the points.

Thats fine with me. Heck - Vegas has gotten this team wrong all year. Everyone has gotten this team wrong. Why start this week.

The only way Bengals will get credit is being 5-0 in the division. Is being 7-2.

It starts this Sunday. If we win. The Ravens will be in a bad spot. They need this win more than we do. Let me repeat that. They NEED this win.

So Ravens fans going into this game confident of a win against a team that beat them in their house. Playing a game that could have them 2 games behind us in the division with 0 tie-breakers and 1-2 in the division with the Steelers for 2 more games.

If I was a ravens fan - I would be a nervous wreck on Sunday.

If the Bengals get a lead early and the stadium is a rockin. I can see the Ravens fall apart by the second half.

If the Bengals win - Then the rest of the season we will look at baltimore to maybe beat the Steelers to make the division easier for us. They will no longer be a threat to us in our run for a playoff spot.

I cant wait til Sunday.

Sterling has been the only one of the three to pick the Bengals on a couple of occasions this season. And he's been right...

I've got some respect for the guy.

Jeebus but I cannot stress enough how confident the local talking heads are in Baltimore and their callers.

Beyond confident.

It is damn near unlistenable.

I have never understood why the Ravens are always over rated. Seeing them as a 3 point favorite after the Bengals beating them on the road already and Carson being 7-3 against the Ravens is mind boggling. I think most of the national pundits didn't watch the first game. The Bengals dominated the game, letting Baltimore score on a busted play and a pick 6.

I like the way the Bengals match up with the Ravens. Ever since Carson has shown up the Bengals have played well against the Ravens. If the Bengals keep the Ravens D out of the endzone they win by 8+ points.

The last 6 times the Bengals have been Underdogs they are 6-0 ATS.

I'm listening too...and it is nauseating. Anita Marks: "Last Bengals game was a fluke, they should be favored by more than 3 points."

On the Bruce Cunningham show, him and the other guy on there did make a valid point in separating the Bengals from the Broncos...calling the Broncos "soft".

Were you listening at around 12:25 pm? When a listener called "Robert" called and concern trolled Preston and Cunningham about Palmer's 7-3 record and 87.9 career passer rating against the Ravens? And wondered how the Ravens were going to handle the unbalanced line? And that the Xs and Os didn't seem all that favorable for B'more?

Because that was me.

Haha yeah! That was the call I was referring to. Good stuff although you just shot down any hope that I had that Ravens fans were actually logical. Good call and great points.

This is the greatest thread I have read all week. Ravens fans having a meltdown because their D-coordinator said "We didn't do anything different against Denver."

Translation: What do you mean the Broncos don't play us like the Bengals do? Our defense hasn't returned to normal yet?

I put money on the Bengals for the first time in my life against Chicago... and the offense exploded with 4 TDs in 4 posessions. You bet your sweet ass I'm putting money on them again!

The fact of the matter is, everyone is talking up the Ravens because they beat the previously undefeated Broncos. Nothing more.

Their defense did nothing different and they got the same production from their offense they have all season.

The thing with that is the fact that Kyle Orton is still Kyle freakin' Orton and it's not like he's accustomed to seeing the type of 3-4 defense that Baltimore will throw at you. Carson is accustomed to that and his 7-3 record gives proof to that point. It's just going at this with little to no thought to what actually happened last week.

The Ravens beat a Broncos team that wasn't prepared for them. Good win for the Ravens indeed, but nothing to get overamped about either...

Bengals win
