All things SoP

Recommended Posts

Like everyone else, I am excited about the draft. But, let's put the parade on hold until we see how the players develop. Their 'high grades' are based on analyst projections. They merely selected highly touted players that slipped to them for one reason or the other. NFL Player Personnel Departments should have more / better information than the analysts. Let's face it, the Bengals never do. They may as well disband the entire Scouting / Player Personnel Department (yes, layoff the entire family) and rely strictly on Mel's 'big board'.

I hope SOP gets lucky, but let's not fool ourselves into believing that Brown did anything more than an average Fantasy Football Owner with a CBSSportsline Cheat Sheet can do.

Thanks for sparing us the Sean Brewer / Artrell Hawkins reach this year Mikey! That's as much as I can give him...

well it is actually soP, not SoP, but why sweat the details? ;)

Patient: Ow! My arm really hurts!

Doctor: That's because you have your arm in a pot of boiling water.

Patient: Look, everyone has been telling me that non-stop. I am fully aware that my arm is in a pot of boiling water. Can you PLEASE stop beating a dead horse and tell me how to make my arm stop hurting?

Doctor: To make your arm stop hurting, pull your arm out of the pot of boiling water.

Patient: Stop bringing that up! I told you I am fully aware that my arm is in a pot of boiling water. Here... I am going to make this thread where you can tell everyone my arm is in a pot of boiling water until you are blue in the face. But we need to reserve the other threads for trying to find out why it is exactly that my arm hurts so badly.

Doctor: OK, you arm must hurt because of plain ole dumb luck. I'm sure it will feel better soon. ^_^

Mike Brown is an idiot right?

Anybody who is a fan of this team is delusional because things will never get better right?

Any fan of this team is an idiot right?

So, how are you any less of an idiot than the rest of us if you are the only one who gets all of this, but still remains a fan(?) ??

I, for one, appreciate the opening of this thread and champion you as the inspiration for it.

Since the Fredo topic is doing so well, let's put all SoP conversation here. Compartmentalize our griping.

:)

Just about everything we've all been screaming for him to do, he went out and did.

More conservative drafting (though he's still a gambler, just not picking all longshots), addressing some holes through free agency, and even an adroit trade brought us a much-needed fullback/running back candidate.

I'd feel a lot better if Brat gave us some indication there will be some material changes to the offensive game-planning and play calling. That's not really a Mike Brown gripe, so I'll save it for the Bratkowsi complaint thread.

Yeah I guess that seems to be just about right.

Actually, in all fairness, I believe it was AB that made a comment in the Fredo thread about starting a SoP thread since some SoP bashing was spilling into the bashing Fredo topic. Thought it was a good idea for equal time.

Yes, I made the recommendation.

That being said, it's a simple premise. Everyone can acknowledge Mike Brown is a sh*tty owner. I don't think you will find people that will disagree and even if they do, won't bring it up. With that thought in mind, it's a given that he does in fact suck, and that MANY of the issues that face this team are the majority of his doing. Bring up an issue and more than likely Mike Brown is the problem with that issue.

My point is why bother bringing that up in EVERY F*CKING post made ?? It's acknowleged already. No one is turning a blind eye, just getting sick of people trying to point that fact out over and over and over like they are bringing some new nugget of information to the table that hasn't been talked about until people are blue in the face.

Please feel free to talk about something relating to Mike Brown that hasn't been spoken about a million times !!!

Here's the thing. I know you are a rational guy so you will understand this. I'm sure it will fly over the head of most others here.

I don't expect you to do so, but if you were to go back through the archive of every post I have made, you would find that my Mike Brown comments are ALWAYS reserved for threads where Mike Brown is applicable, usually as the root cause for whatever ineptitude is being discussed.

For example, I'm not just going to jump in and say "Mike Brown sux!!!111" in a "Roy Williams signed per Bengals.com" thread because that would be irrelevant to the thread.

But thread titles like "When the Ravens grow up, they want to be the Bengals" and "looks like Mike Brown was wise to not build an indoor facility"?!?! Whoever makes threads like these obviously is either working for Mike Brown or has no idea who this Mike Brown fellow is, to start such stupid threads. The Mike Brown explanation is warranted for these types of threads, IMO.

To review: "Would you rather have TJ or Coles" thread = Mike Brown discussion not applicable

"The Bengals Bandwagon is REALLY heating up" thread = Mike Brown applicable

:D

Hope that clears things up, because when you say that I bring Mike Brown up in, how did you phrase it, "EVERY F*CKING post made," well, I know that you know that is simply not true.

Redszone.com has a sticky called "When the Reds win, feel good here." Is that because they hate positive talk about the Reds? Certainly not. It is meant to cut down on blind homerism threads with no facts or debate presented, which attracts negative responses. In our case, It would be to cut down on stupid threads like "When the Ravens grow up, they want to be the Bengals" which in turn cuts down on the soP laden responses.

So I would suggest a "If you want to rah-rah, do it here" thread and I think that would in turn confine the soP responses as well in one fell swoop.

:bengal::cheers::sure:

Nice.

I think confining the venom for soP and the blind homerism for the Bengals and soP to 2 threads will make the board a stronger one.

Although now I would throw out there that quite a few posters are only going to have one thread to post in, and I don't mean the soP bashers either... ;)

But at least there is now aan easy thread to link to whenever the blind homerism or blind soP bashing creeps in and tries to hijack an otherwise interesting/informative thread.

To start, I'm not singling you out here. My comments are made towards all posters that feel free to do exactly what you were talking about. Even if Mike Brown's ineptitudes are applicable, why constantly bring it up ?? It's nothing that's not already known by everyone here unless you just became a fan in the past month. Seriously, why bring it up ??

I keep saying if it's something that hasn't been discussed to such an extent, then fine, but after that, why bother ?? It makes people come off as if they have nothing else to add to the forum than to b*tch and moan. Honestly, you don't strike me as that type of poster, so I will say that.

I'd rather discuss the players or coaches ALREADY UNDERSTANDING that I believe the team is working at a handicap with Mike Brown as the owner. Why ?? Because there is absolutely NOTHING that any member of this forum can further add. NOTHING. So with nothing else to add when talking about someone who never takes the field and almost never talks to the media, why bother ??

Honestly, I use to bash the sh*t out of Mike Brown and most here probably remember those times. I just figured why waste the time with something that won't change ?? As if my keystrokes are going to change the Bengals organization. Pointless...

And I'll still bust on Mikey. But it's all just venting. Of course, what else is the 'net for? ;)

If a patient is riddled with cancer, and starts exhibiting new symptoms, do the doctors ignore the cancer to discuss the other symptoms exclusively?

If a company is drowning in red ink, and modifies its products drastically, will its board of directors and employees discuss the new / altered / canceled products without mentioning the company's financial conditions?

There are very few topics here where our esteemed owner / GM / idiot redeemer / nepotistic president & ceo are not relevant.

...there is absolutely NOTHING that any member of this forum can further add. NOTHING. So with nothing else to add when talking about someone who never takes the field and almost never talks to the media, why bother ??

WTF! I thought this forum was here to allow us to express (not always well thought out) opinions, venting emotions to our BZ brethren and the ether-world, and occasionally berating other posters for their (obviously erroneous) opinions. Occasionally, a nugget of new information is uncovered here, but this isn't a journalistic medium, nor an employee application for the still vacant Bengals GM position.

This forum is sometimes like a frenzied shark feeding, other times like sitting and watching a beautiful sunset ... or a train wreck. It is enjoyable because of the subject matter, emotional topics, the passionate members, and the freedom to apparently go off half-cocked (guess who I am thinking of!)

Please, do not try to make it like my kids' high school, where there are rules for the sake of having rules. If someone thinks that swine flu and muslim extremism are idiot-Mikey's fault, that's fine with me.
