He was a beast in collegeand could be an excellent replacement for Jeremi Johnson. It also appears RW McWhorters is on the outswith the Giants. Well, we suddenly have a lot of cash, and he could fill what I consider the biggest need on our offense. If he's truly recovered from his dual patellar tendon tears, topped off by the obligatory Cleveland staph infection, he could turn our running blocking around with a quickness. Spor_tees Posted August 31, 2008 Report Share Posted August 31, 2008 Let me first say this...If the Bengals don't use the money they gained under the salary cap by cutting Willie and Rudi, to sign TJ to a long term deal, they are flat out retarded. Just to point out how bad of a move it was to cut Rudi, even Hobson in his article takes a stab at how risky/dumb the move is...and we all know how front office friendly Hobson is.Now as far as guys that got cut stand out to me:Joe Toledo OT- This would be the guys third year in the league and he is just flat out HUGE. The guy is listed 6'5" and 337lbs. I am not really sure why San Fran cut him, but if he can be coached up any at all, he definitely has the size to play in the NFL.Doug Datish C- Any Buckeye fan on the board knows about this guy. He is listed as a center but while at Ohio State he played every position on the line at some point or another. At 6'5" and 306lbs he is more a centers size but would fit well in the Bengals scheme of versatile OL.J. Lehman LB- Another Big Ten guy that was a tackling machine with Illinois. He kind of reminds me of Zach Thomas.Rufus Alexander LB- Once again the guy was a stud at Oklahoma, but the Vikings let him go. Maybe it was more of a numbers game...Minnesota has a very good defense and he was just the odd man out.Dan Mozes C- He was all-American at West Virginia and also won the Rimington trophy for best center in the country. He isn't a big guy at only 290lbs. but he has to be better than Cook or maybe even Ghiacic.Jerome McDougle DE- He was a first round pick with a lot of hype coming out of college, but since he has been in the league he has been injury prone. Should the Bengals take a flier on this guy that is already 29 years old? Maybe a league minimum dealRyan McBean DE- I remember during the draft last year some Bengalszone members wanted the Bengals to draft this guy. He was a sack machine in college but couldn't hang on with the Steelers. Darius Reynaud WR- The guy is a flat out burner with good hands. He impressed me every West Virginia game I saw. He might be the answer for PR...and take Chatman's placeOrien Harris DT- Harris is another guy that some board members were high on the Bengals drafting. He played a productive career at Miami but is undersized for a DT in the NFL. Question is, is he quick enough to maybe play DE for the Bengals at 300lbs?Stuart Schweigert S- Schweigert was a class act and team captain when he played for Purdue. He always had a nose for the ball...something Cory Lynch has also. Schweigert has NFL experience and I think would be an upgrade over a guy like Daze-Jones.Andre Woodson QB- Would he be an upgrade over Jordan Palmer? He is a Kentucky player that might help to draw more fans from the bluegrass state.Marcus Monk WR- This guy has unbelievable hands and good size (6'4" 222lbs). He would be the perfect goal line and possession receiver that the Bengals have been lacking the last few years. Sure TJ is able to find the creases to make first downs and TDs in the red zone...but with Monk, Carson can loft it up for him to go get, a la Blake to Pickens back in the day. I really want this guy. I think Urrutia could have been that guy, but the Bengals must have not seen the right things from him. Ashley Lelie WR- At first I thought "Why not?" But then when you think about why he has jumped from one team to another, with his behavioral adjustment problems, I don't think the Bengals should waste their time. They have enough head cases to deal with...err I mean one head case.Roydell Williams WR- The guy had a good year last year with 4 TDs and over 700 yards. He was recovering from ankle surgery and didn't start playing well until late in the preseason. Apparently it was too little too late as far as the Titans were concerned. If the Bengals want a guy with a little NFL experience and some upside he might be worth it.All the players I listed were the ones that stood out to me...but as far as guys I really think they should be serious about are: Dan Mozes, Marcus Monk, J. Guys drop for a reason, maybe he just is not very smart? don't know. hard to knock him getting dropped by Minny, as they don't seem to know what they are doing at WR.
