GregCook
Well...two days ago i said no way and no how. Now I am eating a big plate of delicious crow.I amazed and trying to think happy thoughts. All of this just before the season starts, so much drama for this team two years in a row. Obviously Marvin looks like he doesn't remember the adage, "never say never". Maybe Carson was the mover in getting Henry back, after all he's the guy that has to stand in there waiting for receivers to get open before he gets drilled. Carson has always spoke highly of CH.Course it could also be that CH's agent put out word he was signing with Balt, PItts or Turds up north. So the Bengals risk little cash for a very high risk guy. True to their nature over the years.
ShulaSteakhouse
I haven't read every post here but I have seen a lot of people putting responsibility with Mike Brown and not Marvin. Is this really MB that's driving this? Is there any proof anywhere? Or is this just everyone's theory? I haven't seen that in any media sources.Does it matter? Brown has the final say on everything. Defender
This move instantly makes me more cynical and pessimistic about this team than ShulaSteakhouse ever could hope to be.
DC_Bengals_Fan
No sir, you'd have to be an idiot to want Chatman as your #3 WR... You guys are such fools. Have you been watching the preseason? Our offense has problems. If you think we can compete with Dallas, Indy, and NE with a guy like Chatman as our #3, you're out of your skull... I'm not saying that Henry is the savior and the one player that puts us over the top, but he sure doesn't hurt this team.I'll take Chatman over a guy who CAN'T PLAY. fattyjay
This move speaks volumes about the unimaginative nature of Brat's offense. Also, what happened to re-establishing the running game? Desperate and pathetic. I don't care how talented he is, bringing Henry back is the easy, cheap way out of having to develop or sign other offensive weapons. When is this front office going to learn how to manage an NFL roster?

TecmoFever
After hearing that all of this hearsay about Henry signing was not actually hearsay, but truth, I had something happen to me that had never happened in my 25 years of being a Bengals fan (and this includes the lost decade plus):The thought of "Why do I continue to invest myself into a team that I would completely hate if I didn't grow up loving them?" popped into my head. The thought of "Man, is it possible to completely turn my back on my love for this team and become a fan of a team that has direction and some sort of plan?" popped into my head. Of course, being a true sports fan, I didn't let those thoughts go any further. Being a true fan of something makes it impossible to actually stop caring...I think. But the fact that this thought popped into my head in the first place speaks volumes about how much I truly hate this move. I would rather go 5-11 without Chris Henry than 7-9 with him. And don't tell me that makes me less of a fan. I want to win just as much as anyone else, but if you're telling me that us signing Chris Henry is actually going to be the difference between us making the playoffs and us not making the playoffs, then I respectfully disagree. If our WR corps is so decimated that we actually need to sign Chris Henry, then there is no chance of us making the playoffs. If, on the other hand, our WRs are going to be healthy by Week 5, when Henry comes back from suspension, then why do we need him? The benefit gained by adding Henry is not worth the kick-in-the-balls to the organization that signing Henry brings with it.Whatever hope and excitement I had for this season is now completely gone. Dadraftnick
Henry has the talent of Randy Moss and the brain of a 5year old.My main concern in signing Henry is he takes up a roster spot and you cant use him for 4 games.Which means that somebody is getting the short end of the stick on this one because, if I am not mistaken, he will have to be on the roster even though he cant play for the first 4 games. The reason that could be a problem is guys like Urritia and Purify will be put on the practice squad and likely get picked up by another team.Another question is durring those first 4 games can Henry stay out of trouble long enough to even make to the 5th game?He has a self-distructive personality. TippCityRick
Actually he'll be on the suspended list and will not count toward the 53 man roster. He'll take a place on the roster when he is activated after the fourth week. He will be unable to practice with the team until he is activated. If he's already screwed up then he won't take anyone's job. If the team feels they can go on without him after the four weeks then they release him and he doesn't take anyone's job. If TJ's hammy, CH's shoulder, Caldwell's foot, etc. are worse than they know at this time then they activate him and use him. Call it a six week insurance policy (2 preseason games included at no extra charge). I've posted elsewhere my main concern, and that's what Goodell does to the Bengals if Henry screws up. What round of draftpick will this insurance policy cost if he goes off the deep end. Again, I'm willing to see how this plays out.
redsbengalsbucks
Call me uninterested, if he works out great if he doesnt goodbye. Either way the Bangals have already paid the price of drafting him, they might as well be the team he either finally gets it with or the one he busts with. bwillycuse
Im not as upset as many of you on this acquisition.I thought releasing him was premature, but I accepted it. When he was acquitted and read the details of why the case was thrown out I wish we would have kept him. Now we have Chris back. Not sure why Marvin and Mike said what they did, but I think Marvin s credibility was lost for me when he said Bres wasn't bad and that our D wasn't bad, but we just needed a change.Ive backed Marvin, but he is starting to bother me more than anyone. Defensive guru my a$$. Poor game management often. Predictable game plans. Horrid halftime adjustments.Who Dey - Lets welcome Chris back....He is a changed man..............I hope
Ox
I heard this on NFL radio this morning and thought I was going crazy. I mean what the blood hell? Well the fans will forget and forgiv once he starts catching 70 yard TD's from Carson.Unfortunately, the players will not forget Marvin has no say so anymore. kentjett
Henry's attitude is what keeps him around, he is an angel around the clubhouse. He has a lot better attitude than Randy Moss, TO, Chad or Kellen Winslow. Its the equivalent of the Colts bringing back Marvin who tried to kill someone but is loved amongst his peers or Ravens bringing back Ray Lewis after being charged w/ murder. Every NFL team has these type of players and the good teams learn how to rehabilitate them after they go through their crazy streak. The cowboys turned TO halfway around and the Patriots did the same w/ Moss, Henry isn't any worse than them 2 and hasn't turned on his team like Chad. If he is willing to come back and be a solid teammate like he always has been, let it be. It's the teams that don't take chances are the ones that end up being constant losers and I'm tired of losing. All I know is the Bengals have been tens time better w/ him in the lineup then w/ somebody else. We were a completely different team w/ him playing the last 8 games last year(5-3 compared to 2-6). TJ was a thug earlier in his life and so was Chad and they both have been better since they have had somebody to take them under their wing. He needs somebody to give him direction and he'll be fine. I know he is a idiot and it shouldn't take somebody else to father him but it is what it is and he is a Bengal as of today and we should support him and hope he pans out. Pouting and whining isn't going to do anything. Start rooting for another team or get on board and watch this team sneak up on a lot of people. We haven't looked good in the preaseason but neither has any other team in the AFC north. We have just as good as chance as anybody else, the Browns are overrated, Steelers O-line is looking worse than ours, and the Ravens are just plain horrible. COB
Kenjett is right. Henry has always been a good teammate. At least as good as someone can be who can't play half the time because of suspensions. His teammates like and respect him. I'm on board with Carson being a little sparrow in Mike's ear on this one. He probably misses being able to just make desperation heaves in Chris' general vicinity that are somehow turned into completions. But I didn't see much of that last year. Along with everything else this stupid move was, it was also a complete scam on Roger Goodell. It went as follows: Henry is arrested. The Bengals cut him and make a bunch of noise how they are done with him. Goodell waits until the judicial system is done demonstrating it's ineffectiveness, then levies a 4 game suspension, which I consider the deal of a lifetime for someone who supposedly was on his last chance. Then instead of Jerra, Bob Kraft, or the Rooneys sweeping in to take advantage of Goodell's gift-wrapped present, the Bengals reach back and re-sign him. I believe that if the Bengals had hung on to him and shown a committment to him, Henry would have received a much longer suspension. Mike Tirico on his radio show today expressed great disappointment in the Bengals resigning Henry. He said he thought that the Bengals had turned a corner by dumping Cheech and Thurman, but that resigning Henry shows that the Bengals still don't get it. Then he went on to say that he believed Henry deserved another chance, but not in Cincinnati. WHAT THE f**k?That's right, if Dallas, New England, or Pittsburgh had signed him, we'd be hearing how this or that savvy owner or gm made a great move, and how this type of reclamation project showed they were a team with maturity, blah blah blah. I hated this signing until I heard Tirico lay out this ridiculous double standard that we all know exists at ESPN and in the Commissioner's office. Now I love this signing. Go Chris Henry. Catch a ton of touchdowns, then commit various stupidity crimes, get your lifetime NFL suspension, and take a multi-year tour of the correctional facilities in Ohio and Kentucky. ESPN, Mike Tirico, and Roger Goodell can go have a boy scout circle jerk in their Tom Brady jerseys.Who freakin' dey!
