HairOnFire
Loved the win over Cleveland. Perfect payback for '03....which I admit still hurts whenever I think about it. And yeah, that's why it mattered.
ArmyBengal
You're saying the Bengals will win Sunday? Bold, man. Even for you.Actually, I don't see how the Bengals lose on Sunday. Really. However, if they don't win, I won't say as I care much !!!WHODEY !!!

And yeah, that's why it mattered.Same here.I wasn't thinking about letting Pittsburgh win the division, or letting Cleveland make it to the playoffs.I was only thinking about 2003, when Corey Dillon had that meltdown and Lee Suggs made his name against us, only to never be heard of again. combatbengal
OK, we're not just looking at the first round in the draft. The higher you select in the first round may indicated that you will select higher in the other rounds. So, we would be better off if we had a top 10 select. This season is over and it's been over for two weeks. Yea we beat Cleveland and they weren't able to gloat on our home field. It's time to rebuild for next season. I say we leet all the second and third sting guys play in Miami to see what they can do. Why risk an injury to one of our starters for a game that doesn't mean anything. We beat Miami, we're both still out of the playoffs. Miami beats us, we're both out of the playoffs.

ArmyBengal
I see the talk of going out on a high note and consecutive wins, which hasn't happened this season, but if the only answer was to win two games in a row at the end of the season, that would be fine. However, there are far more issues and with the hopeful turnover of players, what will this AWESOME 2 game win streak really accomplish ?? NOTHING... Don't get me wrong, I think we will win and hope we do, but once again, it won't bother me if we don't !!!WHODEY !!!

Nothing would serve better to feed the negativity surrounding this team than an apathetic approach to the final game of the season.
ArmyBengal
Seriously guys, what's the difference ?? A sh*tty win over a sh*tty Dolphins team is going to make all the difference ?? The negativity that exists right now is going to exist after Sundays game. This team needs serious work, coaching changes, and an attitude adjustment and win or lose Sunday, those things will still be the topic of conversation... Once again, I think and hope we win. I'm just not willing to say that it will make ANY difference whatsoever in the grand scheme of things. WHODEY !!!
combatbengal
Hasn't the entire season been apathetic? Once again, I say we put our second and third sting players in to see what they can do. What is that going to hurt? Cleveland threw a no named QB in on us early in the season and he looked like a super star against our Def. Maybe our players who sit the bench can do the same against the fins. Why risk injury to our starters in a game that doesn't mean anything. Neither team is headed to the playoffs, and we can't stop any other team from getting into the playoffs. Shoot, I’d go as far as letting the 3rd string QB kick the ball and rest Shayne. Just kidding!

HairOnFire
.... what will this AWESOME 2 game win streak really accomplish ?? NOTHING... Flip the question and ask yourself what is accomplished by deliberately trying to lose, which is exactly what many of you are suggesting. C'mon, does drafting two or three spots higher mean that much to you that you'd willingly send THAT message to THIS team?

C'mon, does drafting two or three spots higher mean that much to you that you'd willingly send THAT message to THIS team? The message that THIS team needs is that doing nothing should not be an option. Every win means another piece of ammunition for SOP to do nothing, yet again. Haven't we learned by now that late season winning streaks mean absolutely nothing when it comes to the Bengals? They have never been able to carry any momentum into the following season. I'm not suggesting that they intentionally lose, but they should have been in full 'give the kids a shot' mode weeks ago. Had they been coaching and managing for the future, rather than coaching and managing to not look stupid, Big Toe would still be a Bengal. B-Rob should have cleaned out his locker a loooong time ago. HairOnFire
Every win means another piece of ammunition for SOP to do nothing, yet again. It's odd, but everytime I hear a Bengal fan argue against winning it reminds me of the quote where Mike Brown talks about the cost of going to a Super Bowl. (Perhaps you guys should be tagged "The Li'l soP's")I'm not suggesting that they intentionally lose, but they should have been in full 'give the kids a shot' mode weeks ago. Leon Hall, Marvin White, and Chinendum Ndukwe all started....and thrived....last week. In fact, they've all received increased playing time for nearly a month. And so have Jonathan Fanene, Corey Mays, etc.Had they been coaching and managing for the future, rather than coaching and managing to not look stupid, Big Toe would still be a Bengal. I have no doubts about the "Big Toe" becoming a figure of legend in Bengala....at least for a few years. Then, after he fails to do anything for his new team(s) his epic story will quickly fade from memory, only rembered by frustrated fugtards and dedicated dinks. My advice? Stop stubbing the "Big Toe". Instead, embrace the Big Tit.

NOTHING...Flip the question and ask yourself what is accomplished by deliberately trying to lose, which is exactly what many of you are suggesting. C'mon, does drafting two or three spots higher mean that much to you that you'd willingly send THAT message to THIS team?I have never said I want the Bengals to deliberately lose this game and no, I'm not suggesting they do. The point I'm trying to make is there is to much being put on "what this win will do for the Bengals"... I understand the concept of finishing strong, but feel with THIS team, it's going to be a mute point. With all the sh*t thrown at the organization, the coaching, and the players, do you think that a win is going to change even ONE of those concerns ?? I think not... Again, EVERYTHING that is a concern right now and has been for some time this season, is STILL going to be a concern win or lose this weekend. Let me point out that at least two times in this thread I've stated not only do I think they will win, but HOPE they do as well. I'm just not willing to put that much faith that a win over the MIGHTY Dolphins is going to make any difference in the grand scheme of things. My faith-tank in THIS team is on EMPTY for the season... If anyone thinks this game is going to change the big issues surrounding this team, then more power to you and I will simply say, I agree to disagree and leave it at that...WHODEY !!! HairOnFire
Let me point out that at least two times in this thread I've stated not only do I think they will win, but HOPE they do as well. I apologize if I threw you under the same bus that will hopefully drive over and kill our beloved combatbengal. Look, arguing that a win accomplishes nothing is sort of missing the point....because a loss accomplishes even less. Plus, if the team deliberately hinders it's own ability to win...by pulling it's starters simply because it can....then I think it's risking far more than a couple of spots in the draft. This isn't a playoff team, right? And because it isn't there's no VALID reason to treat the game like a meaningless exhibition by pulling it's best players. Bottom Line: Not only should the Bengals do everything possible to win the game....they should attempt to run the score up.
Bengals44
A win always makes me feel better regardless, thats what its all about, enjoying your team as much as possible... ArmyBengal
I would love to see a very solid ALL AROUND performance from our beloved Bengals, but I just can't bring myself to care about the outcome all that much. When they blew the SF game, much of my optimism went right out the window... I compare it to those that think the defense is getting better because we beat the likes of the POWERHOUSE Rams, Ravens, Jets, and now possibly the Dolphins... Oh well, as the old saying goes, there's always next year !!! I will be ready and waiting !!!WHODEY !!!

combatbengal
My point is not to throw the game! Why would we risk injury to one of our starters for a game that doesn't matter? Why not give some of our young guys to show what they can do? Give them some experience in a real game. What could it hurt.
COB
Why risk injury to one of our starters? We're not in the playoffs, what are we trying to protect them for? I don't understand the theory that says play young guys to get experience so down the road we can use them to "win games" down the road. Here's an idea: win the game directly in front of us. If a starter gets injured, he can avail himself of the medical expertise on the 32nd best medical staff in the NFL, and be healed up by July. I DO NOT want to lose to the lowly Dolphins. BengalszoneBilly
I DO NOT want to lose to the lowly Dolphins.Well what you want, and what you actually get may end up to be quite different. First of all the game tomarrow is on the road in Miami where Cincy hasn't won at since their inaugural season of 1968. The Bengals have only won one single road game this season, and that was against the pathetic Ravens. Right now Miami is a better team than Baltimore was then.Secondly, the Bengals haven't strung two stinking wins together all season long. What makes you think they're going to start now with the season long since over? I don't see it. I say the Dolphins snag their second win of the season in a 27-24 win. Bengals- 31Dolphins-10WHODEY !!!Leave it. The prediction thread I started for the Cleveland game in Cincy saw minimal posting, so how could the last game of the year on the road in Miami do any better? Screw it. It's not worth a thread of it's own. I may edit the title though.
