ArmyBengal
All the talk lately of how Mike Brown should have moved the team when he had the chance and the people of Cincinnati should have let him take the team to get rid of him, made me wonder something...What would you do if the Bengals did leave ??Would you sit back and wait for another team to come back to Cincinnati or start rooting for another team ?? Would you even follow football anymore being so pissed about losing our NFL franchise ??Me personally, I would probably just wait for another team to come in while just enjoying football as a whole, but not rooting specifically for one team. It would also be a good time for me to catch up on everything the Reds are (or are not) doing. I still just can't imagine NOT having the Bengals in Cincinnati !!!WHODEY !!! And as far as Cincinnati getting another NFL team before Los Angeles is crazy. It would be like when the NBA's Cincinnati Royals left. There would be no replacement. cincyhokie
Not to follow up with another post but..........I see this team coming back strong next year. 2008 is going to see the Reds rejuvenated, make the playoffs and by the time we finish with them, the Bengals will be back in the top of the AFCN.I really believe that. Crazy huh?

The Bengals are stuck with the "Same 'Ol Same 'Ol".

ArmyBengal
Well, IF the team ever left, I would hope we could do like Cleveland did and be able to keep the name and the history here in Cincinnati even if we never got another team down the road...WHODEY !!! DC_Bengals_Fan
All the talk lately of how Mike Brown should have moved the team when he had the chance and the people of Cincinnati should have let him take the team to get rid of him...That's a false dichotomy typically put out by the "I love Mike Brown" fan club (population: 1); namely, that we have "NFL team run by Mike Brown" or " No NFL team" as our only options. The point, I imagine, is that we should be grateful to Captain Incompetent for not moving the team, and that given his generosity in that regard, we shouldn't question his lack of ability as an NFL executive. However, the city has paid quite a lot for the right to have a team; I think that gives Cincinnati residents at least the right to question his ability to run said team. Not to mention which, no city should have to put up with it, so the issue will remain somewhere if not here. Note what happened to the NBA's hornets - a change in scenery doesn't do anything in the long term if the ownership is incompetent. The Charlotte situation is similar to ours in another respect as well - the league recognized that the owner was the problem and Charlotte (a smallish city) got another team pretty quick. Given what Goodell probably thinks about Brown, I don't think a parallel situation is impossible. Note that LA's situation (which was mentioned) is different; the NFL desperately wants football in LA but LA's leadership can't get it together. Heck, Houston beat out LA for the last expansion team, and there are at least 5 teams who would probably move to LA if LA was ready for a team. I don't want to see the Bengals leave, myself, but I don't think it would be impossible to see another team in the city if the worst were to happen.Cincinnati has the passion and fan base to support an NFL team (God knows the 90s proved that if nothing else). That has never been in question. The best option in the long run is for Brown to realize that his family does not have the demonstrated experience to run a team, and that if they weren't named Brown none of them would have jobs. Mike needs to realize that if he were GM he would have fired himself a long time ago.Basically, he needs to stop trying to be his father. He wouldn't try to coach the team; what makes him think he can run it as GM? The city would appreciate him for stepping aside as GM and becoming the elder statesman. I thought he was starting to realize that when he hired Marvin; I appear to have been mistaken.
agreen_112
I agree that if the Bengals were to leave Cincinnati, we probably wouldn't ever get another team back here in cincy. The way the league is setup now with and even 32 teams, 2 conferences, and 4 teams per division... It's perfect. The NFL will not add another team, I think it stays 32 teams for the rest of time.Even though I do not attend games at PBS, I would absolutely HATE not having a team here in Cincy. I would still follow the "Bengals" but it wouldn't be the same. I'm a hometown guy; Bengals, Reds, Bucks, Bearcats, Redhawks, Muskateers, Cavaliers (only Ohio basketball team we have), Blue Jackets all the way... I couldn't imagine cheering for the Orlando Bengals???I'm happy with a cheap Mike Brown and a stadium Hamilton Co. paid for rather than not having a team at all... ANYDAY!!! I thought he was starting to realize that when he hired Marvin; I appear to have been mistaken.Very well said. I admit, at this second, I would rather have this incompetently managed franchise rather than nothing at all. However, with every season the apathy grows. For the first time in my life, I am actually hoping that they lose their remaining games. If that means I am not a true fan, so be it. If you hit SOP in his wallet, he will change. This is, however, more difficult than before the stadium deal, thanks to the 40K seat safety net negotiated by his bestest employee on behalf of the good citizens of Hamilton County. We'll just call that the 'Don't penalize me for sucking' clause. The people that turn a blind eye to this guy just enable him to continue. All you have to do is look at the corporate structure to realize that they have no legit chance of competing in the NFL on any type of a consistent basis. But hey, they were able to lure Lippy away from Moeller. How freaking sad is that!Charlotte is a good example, but so too is St Louis. Like Cincinnati, St. Louis is known as a baseball town. But, they have a good football fan base in that city. They were just beat down by Bidwell to the point where they just didn't care that he left anymore. Cincinnati is dangerously close to that point. Ox
I would have a lot more free time to have a real life instead of typing on the zone all day.Really though I'd just follow the new team, and save money on season tickets. redsbengalsbucks
Since I already have an NFC team, "THE BEARS", I would just switch to them being my #1 NFL team instead of #2.I live about 3 hours from Chicago and about 2 1/2 hours from Cinci, that was my reasoning for being a fan of these teams to begin with. Well that and the fact that Detroit blows and has always had horrible uni's.I would have to see where the Bengals moved to, when the rumor was Cleveland before the new stadium, there was no way I would root for them or any other team from that stinkhole of a town. I might be convinced to root for the Nebraska Bengals or some other football needy area of the country. They would always be my #2 team after a move though.
