Spor_tees Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 How about maybe the Bengals don't want to have to wait to see a pass rushing specialist develope, so that is why they want to sign Arrington? They have had Justin smith for how many years? Has he had any double digit sack seasons? If they sign Arrington, they are going to draft 2 DT in the draft one of which will either be a first or second rounder...and if the right guys fall, maybe in the first AND second round. I'd love to see some of the top TE's, but if we could get a Bunkley and Watson with our first 2 picks and get a Fassano in the third...I would nut my shorts. Maybe this is plan "B". The Bengals were going to sign Sam Adams, but then Arrington approached the Bengals and told them he "wanted" to come here and was willing to negotiate on price just to play for Marvin and a winner? BengalszoneBilly Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 we already have a thread for thisSheesh CHad, there's some Republican showing in your tone there! Quote
bengalindian Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 Whatever. I'm glad he visited just to be told that "We'd love to have you here L-dawg, but you're too damn expensive (duh!)." Quote
BengalszoneBilly Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 Billy, your image F-18 rulez! It does kick more than a marginal amount of a$$, doesn't it?!Wait, I gotta throw this 1st on myself... Quote
BengalsDieHard1 Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 Ive got mixed feelings about LA. He is a competitor, but he does have a big ego....maybe too big for our salary cap. Ive watched him for a couple of years here in DC. When he gets what he wants, ie.,plays what and where he wants...position wise.....he thrives. Anything else, I just see a lot of bitchin' and not a lot of playin'. He is definitely a "me" guy. My final answer....save the $$$$$ for resigning our solid players......keep that O-Line SOLID!!!!!!!!! Quote
Kazkal Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 we need eric and levi back i wonder if we signed him if we would move pollack back too fulltime end or if howd we work our lb's Quote
ChadJohnson-85 Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 I heard this on the radio so I aint sure how much this is true. If he is going to Miami, to bad for the Bengals... Quote
nechemia Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 What a shock... just another player that publicizes his "deep desire" to play again with Marvin Lewis in order to drive up his deal with another team. Has it happened even one time when one of these former players actually signed with the Bengals? Wait, what was the name of that super fast receiver that was on the Ravens and Washington that we signed but got hurt in training camp and then cut? Quote
membengal Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 There is certainly nothing on any of the major on-line sites confirming that this morning. Or even hinting at it outside of ESPN's general rumors section. The only thing I see is that Arrington supposedly was in Cincy last night per .com. Quote
membengal Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 Enquirer has expanded their story on the Arrington visit a bit, and he apparently is still in town this morning. Quote
HoosierCat Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 Miami was supposedly upping their ante in the Arrington derby, according to reports over the last day or two. The Jags were also said to be making a strong renewed push. Haven't seen anything this a.m. about a signing, but ya never know (ok, well, you do know he won't be signed by Cincy, but other than that...) Quote
walzav29 Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 I can't think of a team that the Bengals outbid. Enjoy Miami. Quote
kurgan74 Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 My .02 about the possible Arrington signing. As Larry the Cable Guy would say Get 'R Done! Quote
ArmyBengal Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 The latest per KFFL.com...Dolphins | Arrington's price too much?Thu, 23 Mar 2006 06:24:10 -0800Armando Salguero, of the Miami Herald, reports the Miami Dolphins and the agent for free agent LB LaVar Arrington (Redskins) haven't talked about a contract since Monday, March 20, and sticker shock may be the reason. Agent Kevin Poston believes the LB Julian Peterson contract with the Seattle Seahawks set the market at the position and he hopes Arrington will get an a similar offer. An NFL source said Wednesday, March 22, that Miami is unlikely to reach that high a price tag to acquire Arrington, thus the lull in talks.WHODEY !!! Quote
Whur CHad At? Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 Rumors are that he could be out of the Jags price range as well Quote
Stripes Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 Sounds like he's too expensive for everybody then. Perhaps he'll have to cut down some on that ego of his to get signed by anyone? Quote
TJJackson Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 Vikes or Arizona could still afford him if they wanted him....easilyArizona knows him well, has immense needs on defense, and are ignoring him. That's fairly telling to me Quote
walshfan Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 could afford to maybe but why??? I dont think he's all that great... Quote
TecmoFever Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 Has anybody posted this yet?Agent: No visit yet By GEOFF HOBSONMarch 22, 2006Posted: 3:45 p.m. Arrington: No visit yet (Getty Images) Carl Poston, one of the agents for Pro Bowl linebacker LaVar Arrington, said his client isn't scheduled to visit the Bengals as he previously thought. "LaVar and I got our wires crossed," Poston said Thursday. "He has been making visits and been on the road a lot. I still think it's a visit that could happen at some point." Poston said that Arrington is continuing a dialouge with Lewis that has been ongong since free agency and indicated that Arrington has talked about potential visits. Quote
Spor_tees Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 Has anyone looked at the updated article on Bengals.com?Carl Poston, one of the agents for Pro Bowl linebacker LaVar Arrington, said his client isn't scheduled to visit the Bengals as he previously thought. So Arrington isn't even in town! Damn this he said, they said crap is getting old. Either sign the guy or say you aren't going to. This is like dangling a cheetoh in front of an Ethiopian. Quote
Whur CHad At? Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 According to Hobson, Arrington never visited Wednesday or THursday...his agent saying they got criss crossed Quote
ArmyBengal Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 This all equals one thing...Bengals = Getting Played WHODEY !!! Quote
TecmoFever Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 Looks like we all brought the same info at the same time about Arrington not even visiting. How do you get your "wires crossed" about something like this? Obviously a ploy that I don't even particularly care about anymore. Just get me one fat guy (Grady Jackson or Adams), a backup QB (Anthony Wright or Jamie Martin) and let's get to the draft as soon as possible so that I don't have to keep hearing about all this idiocy in Free Agency.
