They need to reduce the cap hit at the RB1 spot to about 4M I would presume all a restructuring would do is give Mixon the same or more money but later, which would just delay the issue rather than solve it if Mixon is willing to toss his existing contract and take a huge pay cut, that'd be fine, but I dont see that happening, which means the only way to go is to release him He can certainly still play and he could still contribute to the team......but not at his current price. Thats really the only problem: the price.

If they sign him for more than 2M non guaranteed, I will be pissed I dont think he has much left to give
-
indeed it would WR my ass :-)
-
Just gimme one who can block AND catch equally well a complete 3 down TE Instead of drafting 2, I'd rather they bring in at least one of Wilcox or Sample as the TE2/TE3 on vetmin deals as they already know the offense and special teams
-
sadly, yes
-
so will the Reds win 50 games this year? 40?
-
I dont want a player protecting New Guy who doesnt want to be here
-
Im hoping you didnt miss the part where they added a pro bowl wr?
-
Bengals roster has 3 TEs currently..... one is Asiasi the other two are futures contract guys, ie practice squad players
-
dammit, the Browns got a pro bowl WR for a pick swap dammit dammit dammit
-
dammit!

Ass who knows our system and hasnt been a troublemaker and is capable of being solid as our TE3=vetmin contract He will definitely need to be a bigger contributor on special teams this year all this presumes of course that he has recovered from his season-ending surgery in 2022, and I dont honestly know his status right now Hurst aside, none of the other TEs did anything that impressed me. If not Sample, tho, who would be optimal as our TE3 at this point?
-
True dat. ie the first 11M of a replacement contract is already factored in, or said another way, if the replacement contract 2023 hit is 12M, the total impact to this years cap is only adding 1M I know we wont get word til April at the earliest due to how the rules work with guaranteed money, but I hope they are working out the terms now New Guy aside, I am eager to hear announcements that they've signed Apple and Flowers, with Apple's terms including STFU bonuses. He talks, he makes less. I am fine with that. I'd be OK with them signing Drew Sample as long as it is a vetmin only contract

I figure either the Colts or Bears will be the trade partners I suspect we may have to eat some of his 2023 salary as part of the deal. 1-2 M would be OK as long as the trade partner provides a higher draft pick in exchange for the cap savings. 1-2M and a 2023 r4 or a 2024 r3 (or better) would be acceptable. I'm not anti-Jonah but I dont want a player protecting New Guy who doesnt want to be here. I see that as an on-field disaster in the making

I dont think that a team can shy away from drafting at a position of need simply because they havent have a hit there in a while another way to look at it is that they are due a success here after the Carmans and Oogies and etc that said, I'd prefer a pass rushing 3TDT here over all others, but yeah, if one isnt there at 28, it'd be best to address another need with a better player......as long as it isnt a rb Mem: I cant make any promises other than I will try to think - why did they take this player here? - before commenting.

I have to admit in connection to this, Army, that they sent so much money on Pratt and Brown while they have said that they would be extending New Guy this offseason There's not much left in the piggybank to do so
-
Scharping is a possibility as well. he was drafted as an OT a very dark horse, but we have no white horses in the stable.
-
I guess we will see if a change of scenery and OL schemes is good for him or not. The contract makes it a zero risk proposition - no dead money if he gets cut My best guess is that Pollack must have seen something he liked I didn't watch the video, but is his off-field baggage anywhere near as bad as Carman's? I think his main issue was (or is) staying healthy. Army: I decided not to make a joke linking "Jenny" with Carman. Not going there.

Looks like Adeniji is our ORT in 2023 at the moment How was Moreau's pass blocking? (you can just link the article in question if you'd prefer)
-
yeah, we'll have to wait to see who falls hopefully, its a ORT or a 3TDT, or even a DE I'd rather get a 3 down TE over a CB, as we have 4 starting quality corners, but hopefully one of those top 3 needs will be addressed If it is a TE at 28, he has to be productive, durable, and a 3 down player. All three downs. We do need a punter to push Crisman. I think Crisman can put himself right, but I dont KNOW if he will or not. So we need a top punter to push him. R6 or 7. and a running back who can catch and block. another Perine. r4 or 5.

A TE needs to be drafted, sure........but not at 28
-
If Moreau cant block, my interest in him is very limited TE has to do both
-
https://bengalswire.usatoday.com/2023/03/20/cody-ford-contract-details-bengals-free-agency/ says Ford signed for vet min with no guarantees
-
I still see our top two needs as ORT and pass rush (preferably inside) I acknowledge that TE is a need, but see it as our third or fourth round selection
