Official Bengals Ring of Honor coming to PBS
ArmyBengal replied to COB's topic in Cincinnati Bengals
I don't think "Causing rule changes" is a deciding factor in every players consideration and addition to the ROH. I just think it should have been and was a deciding factor when Curtis was considered and added. -

Fulcher was just that guy that no offensive players wanted to see on defense. He instilled fear in the opposing players. If he was on the field and you got the ball, he was coming for you. -

I liked Thomas. No doubt. However, Fulcher was a 3 time All Pro and 3 time Pro Bowl player. Thomas achieved Pro Bowl once in his career. As much as I liked Thomas, he wouldn't even be in my top 20 Bengals of all time. -

If I'm voting on this honor (I'm not), it would look something like this: QB Boomer Esiason- Should be a no brainer honestly WR Chad Johnson- Curtis is in, so if there has to be another WR, Chad is next NT Tim Krumrie- Still thought to be the best DT in Bengals history CB Lamar Parrish- His 6 pro bowls are still 2nd best in team history, back when pro bowls were legit RB Corey Dillon- Single player worth cheering for during the 90's. Shame the team sucked around him S David Fulcher- One of the most intimidating safeties in the game. 17 INT's over a 3 year span Those would be my next guys, but could easily see someone making the argument for other guys like Collinsworth, who I should at least have on the list above, Pickens, and Holman. -

Hey coach Reid… Define “Impressing”. Something tells me that word means something different to him. Not wishing Ross ill or anything, he just never lived up to his draft status or any draft status for that matter. Amazing how long he has earned paychecks off of his combine 40 time. -

Yeah, TB is top notch. Wish him a Super Bowl ring with us this year and the best he can do for him and his family with his next contract. Dude deserves everything he gets. Goes about things the right way !! -

I honestly always felt like Tee would be the odd man out, as I thought it would be too problematic to dump that much money into the WR corps. That is not what the team is thinking apparently and appear to be willing to dump mad dollars in that direction, which I'm fine with. However, mad dollars still has a limit and by all accounts TB is now the odd man out. TB will be 29 during this season and while nothing would make me happier in seeing these guys all stick together, looking at new contracts for Chase, Higgins and TB, I just don't see it. Lets give a round number, which I think is less than what the 3 total would cost, 60 million. That's roughly 26-27% of the current cap number. While that number will continue to go up, that hasn't even factored in Joe's soon to be top 3, if not the highest paid player in the NFL contract. TB's future contract is going to be more than Logan Wilson's next deal for some perspective. With TB gone, the Bengals resign Wilson with ease and still have money to play with to address others. It makes me sad to tell the truth, because I think the world of TB. Here's to hoping we can get him a Super Bowl ring this year. -

I get the discussion and am not about to lose sleep over it one way or another as I think they were both great WR’s here. The reason I go with Curtis is, as Mem stated, they literally changed the rules because of him. The term “game changer” is an overused statement for most players in history. Not in Curtis’ case. It’s literally what he was. -

That’s probably the answer… Much better than the Moose Penis theory. -

Nope, there was an article I read about him. Lives out of the spotlight from all accounts. I think in California if so remember correctly. -

Holy shit indeed. I don’t know what kind of shit he’s working in rehab but that’s nothing short of a miracle. He torn his knee up 5 months ago. For a man that size, that’s divine intervention. -

In all honesty, I think Chrisman sealed his fate with that last punt against the Chiefs in the Championship game. Right down the middle of the damn field, which saw Moore return it to the 50 yard line. While that didn't lose the game, it certainly played a part in the Chiefs closing it out. Drafting a punter was an easy decision at that point. Regarding the o-line, if the starters manage to stay healthy, this offense is simply deadly. People seem to focus on Burrow and he rightfully gets that attention, but this offense really is stacked. There might not be a better WR #1-3 in the league than Chase, Higgins and Boyd. I think they already had a decent #4 and they even upgraded that spot with Charlie Jones, who is also a return guy. Mixon is back, which despite all the talk, we all knew that was happening, but they add Chase Brown who I think is going to be good. If Irv Smith Jr. can manage to stay healthy at the TE spot, this is going to be a really fun season to watch them all work. God forbid the defense holds tight in the secondary and they manage a pass rush that gets home a little more and there is no reason not to expect knocking on the Super Bowl door yet again. -

I know they like to say there is a punting competition, but I don't see it that way. Nearly 5 seconds of hang time AND directional punting abilities? Nope, no competition at all. Next story... -

Another round of who gets into the Bengals Ring of Honor. Season ticket holders and suite owners will vote on the players. Two more will be going in among this group of 13: K Jim Breech, RB James Brooks, WR Cris Collinsworth, RB Corey Dillon, QB Boomer Esiason, S David Fulcher, WR Chad Johnson, DT Tim Krumrie, OL Dave Lapham, OG Max Montoya, CB Lemar Parrish, TE Bob Trumpy, and LB Reggie Williams. -
Thank you sir. Those seats really are great !!

I would be more than happy to grab them up Mem. Just let me know.

Oh Marvin had talent, but the approach the organization took to bring in talent, was far different. They brought in problem characters, thinking they could help and change them. Henry, Pac-Man, Thurman, Burfict, the list goes on. I loved those guys to be honest, but that chemistry is just a different mixture which never worked with an organization which was openly ridiculed for being cheap. The whole thing was crazy toxic. Marvin doesn't get much credit for getting the team out of the debacle of the 90's and getting them even back to 8-8, let alone getting to the playoffs. Him not being able to win in the playoffs was his demise. Kept losing playoff games, but was continually brought back. I don't really care at this point, because like they always say, winning cures all. I'm happy to be able to be a part of what's happening now !!

You know your team is playing well when you can't get preseason tickets for under $10. Either way, we will be at the Green Bay game. First chance to get back down in the stadium, hear the crowd again, and see some of the youngsters out there. Less than 3 months from today !!! FUCK YEAH !!!

Correction... After that ass stomping they handed out last night in a 3-0 win, FC Cincinnati is in sole possession of first place in the Eastern Conference and have the best record in all of MLS. They also set a MLS record, as no team in history has opened the season going 7-0 while playing at home. In 12 matches, they have 8 wins, 3 draws and only a single loss. Again, it's a great thing going on with the city and team !!

Well, I know soccer isn't everyone's cup of tea, regardless of how much I love it. However, if you haven't been down to a match at TQL stadium, you should really check it out. It's a great environment with fans that are really passionate about the team. That's just fun to be around. Besides that, FC Cincinnati is in 2nd place in the eastern conference and currently has the 2nd best record in MLS. They are kicking (sorry) ass this season, picking up where they left off from last year. I love pretty much everything about it and you can pick up tickets for $20 most matches. We end up walking around the stadium, talking with other fans, eating, drinking and watching the game. It sure as hell beats any product the Reds have put on the field in any recent season !!! Sorry for the dig Reds. I still love you. Kinda...
