I haven't always been a fan of Perine's game. I've given him more shit than praise, but I have to give credit where credit is due. I spoke about Perine in the game thread earlier, so won't belabor the thread by repeating it all again. I will just say, having two capable RB's in the backfield is far from problematic. Adding Chris Evans in the mix is all gravy !!! Having an O-line like ours is performing now is a huge boost for the RB's as well.

Perine... If there is a single player that needs to be cherished at this point, it has to be him. The guy has just absolutely balled out in the absence of Mixon and in all phases of the run game. He's running, blocking, catching passes, doing it all against really good teams and coming out on top. Lucky to have him for sure. Tee... I said this last week, have said it many times before, and will say it again. HE'S A #1 ON MANY TEAMS. The dude doesn't have to catch 15 balls a game and score 3 TD's. He's just an animal whenever he's called upon and rarely comes up empty. That catch and run for a TD was about all you could hope for out of a WR. Just tough, physical and finished the play with guys on him. The 3rd down catch to seal the game? Get the fuck out of here. There was no "luck" in any portion of that play. Pure execution and a man playing ball. The O-Line... THIS is what we were hoping for at the start of the season. Just crushing guys out there and giving Burrow enough time to throw the ball. Even when things start to break down, they give Burrow time to read the pocket, step up and throw or take off running. It truly is amazing as well to see Volson executing at this level. Jackson who? Volson has made that dude an after thought. The Defense... ZERO points in the 4th quarter to the Chiefs. DID YOU HEAR ME ?? FUCKING ZERO !!! That opening drive irked me, but they really pulled it together and brought the pressure. Hendrickson didn't record a sack, but was in on plays all game long bringing pressure. No stats for how good his game was last night. Pratt with the "GIVE ME MY DAMN BALL" moment against Kelce. Everyone saying Kelce should have just gone down without any thought to Pratt simply making the play. That was a "Who wants it more moment" and Pratt came out on top. Loved having Chase back and feel better about how he has recovered to this point. Lets keep that up because you can see how just having him on the field changes up what the defense has to do. I could spend the next hour talking about Burrow, but I won't. I don't care if someone calls him "The best" or whatever else to describe him. I looked at my son when he asked, "What makes Burrow so good dad?" and I simply responded with three words... "He's a killer". I like the moniker of "Joe BRRRR" because I think it's most appropriate. The dude exudes cool and calm under pressure, while looking to reap souls. For me, when I look at it through that lens, he's like the Kobe Bryant of NFL football. FUCKING WHODEY !!!

MY GOD, what a game !!! I totally bailed on family for a child's birthday, irritating a large group, infuriated the wife and probably won't get any for a stretch. That's ok though, I'll rub one out like a champ and celebrate that amazing win. It was fucking great to be down there for that one. I'd say I'm sorry to all the family and my wife, but I'm not. WHODEY !!! That being out of the way, I love how the Bengals just went out and executed and people still slight them. Saying Burrow is throwing prayers and he's not that good, that his WR's do it all. Keyshaun being the biggest douchebag analyst in the game, not wanting to acknowledge the Bengals are a good team. Chiefs fans bitching about how two penalties against the Chiefs "gave the game" to the Bengals. For every person saying the Bengals are legit, there's always some asshat who just can't help themselves.

Watching the Texans Browns game and I quickly realized how much of a child I can be. The announcer said they should expect a heavy dose of Chubb. I looked at my wife and said, “So should you”. She walked out of the room.

One (FA) impacts the other (draft) in my thoughts. We not view RB as a priority but if Perine asks for a hell of a lot more than the club anticipates, RB is now a priority in the first few rounds. Especially when they can get out from Mixon after next year. Bates is leaving. What if Bell ends up walking? Not thinking he will, but if he does, the safety position is a fairly large concern even with Dax in the building. The linebackers over the next two FA periods? WR’s… DT’s and so on and so on. I would think (and I could be wrong) that a team known for building through the draft is forward thinking and wanting to cover the bases that could be left bare. In honesty though, none of this is a worry to me. In fact, I’m pretty intrigued to see how it’s all going to work out.

Yeah my son and I do all sports things together. ArmyBengal Jr. is now 16, driving and a full 3 inches taller than me.

Well I woke up this morning to a phone call from my brother and law who can’t go to the game and offered his two tickets for free. I asked the wife if she was willing to fuck with fate to that degree and is that 3 year old even going to miss me drinking myself into a mess while following the game in the guest bathroom ?? She gave me one of those typical, “FINE, go to the stupid game”. Something tells me I’m going to pay for that, but I’m willing to deal with those repercussions to make the game. Let’s fucking go Bengals !!!!

That’s pretty much where I will find myself on Sunday Stripes !!
-
I so want to be at the game Sunday, but again, other things going on. I don't know what the hell is wrong with people scheduling things when they know damn well the Bengals are playing. I'm serious in saying that it really irks the shit out of me. Then the wife wonders why I'm in a bad mood. Is it wrong to bring a bottle of bourbon to a 3 year old's birthday party full of kids ?? Checking for a friend...

It was a bitch move on his and the Ravens part. I mean God forbid someone take accountability for what they put out there. He said it, just own it and move on. A big whatever.
-
Side note… Hoosier, wasn’t it you that like me, advocated for Marcus Jones in the draft ?? Kid has next level speed and just put the Pats up on the Bills.
-
Let’s find out !!!
-
Not that I don't love watching football any other time, but i'm really looking forward to the game this weekend !! It's nice being in a position that doesn't include discussing who we are taking in the top 5 of next year's draft.

I couldn’t figure what I wanted to eat a couple days back and went to Arby’s. I just ordered random shit that caught my eye and ended up with: Jalapeño Poppers Mozzarella Sticks Curly Fries Cherry Turnover Pepsi The kid read my order back to me and I literally couldn’t understand anything they said. I said again what I wanted and he responded with “Bet”. Thank God my son was in the car and let me know that was a good thing. I was about to tell them I wanted to put $20 on the kid if he fought the girl working fries. Confusing times !!

As usual, it will depend on how they tackle free agency. The emphasis may be on the in house players hitting the market. All of the following are unrestricted free agents after the season: S- Jessie Bates S- Vonn Bell CB- Eli Apple TE- Hayden Hurst RB- Samaje Perine LB- Germaine Pratt And there are more depth guys, but those are the ones getting constant snaps week in and week out. Then there are the big ones coming due shortly thereafter. Take a look at the 2024 options they will have to address: QB- Joe Burrow (club option) RB- Joe Mixon (club option) DT- DJ Reader (UFA) WR- Tyler Boyd (UFA) CB- Chidobe Awuzie (UFA) LT- Jonah Williams (UFA) WR- Tee Higgins (UFA) LB- Logan Wilson (UFA) DT- Josh Tupou (UFA) LB- Akeem Davis-Gaither (UFA) That doesn't include Chase's contract which will follow all of that as well. BIG decisions will be coming for the team after this season. Who stays? Who goes? The above is what you call the window closing on this group.
-
They are filling spots and that's about all that can be expected. Not many 6'2 DE's killing it in the league. Any WR not making Houston's roster is cause for concern. Wishing them the best while they are Bengals !!!
-
Great seats as Mem was gracious enough to provide his preseason game and I took my son and his two friends. I have plans around the game which will keep me from going or I would be all in at that price point. Nice of you to offer !!
-
Shit, forgot about Mixon. Yes, quite the accomplishment.
-
Agree that things have evened out for Taylor. It certainly was NOT that way to start the season, but that seems to be a long time ago in comparison. Another thing that helps the offense with Chase going down is having the equivalent of two #1 WR's on the roster. Higgins has been stellar in Chase's absence and has only proven that many teams should be looking at him in free agency as their new #1 WR if the Bengals can't retain him. Without going to look and make comparisons, I would find it surprising to find teams be able to continue winning after losing both their #1 WR and #1 CB for a period of time. Good on this coaching staff for keeping up !!

Great. Grand. Just don't let Chrisman get away when you have the answer to the position in your hands.
-
The Titans were just pissed because the Bengals have, now twice in a row, come into their house and smacked them right in the fucking mouth. They have literally bullied the Titans when most see the Titans as a very physical team. That being said, I agree with you guys. Cheap shot bitches. SCOREBOARD MOTHERFUCKERS !!!
-
I'd rather them waste a spot with two punters than to send him back to the practice squad personally. I like Chrisman and Huber's time has come (with all due respect). It would be nice not to have "Punter" on the list of things to deal with in 2023. There are far greater things on that list.
-
If we are talking AFC North crown, the main problem is the Bengals are 1-3 in the division where the Ravens are 2-0. We need the Ravens to drop some of their remaining division games. Even if we split, they would have a better division record which is the first tie breaker. They still have the Steelers twice and the Browns before us. Not to say they will just sweep all those games, but the Bengals will need some help if we end in a tie. All that being said, JUST FOCUS ON BEATING KC !!! Everything else will play itself out.
-
HUGE !!!

Thanks Mem !!! That's what I was saying in the other thread. This team feels different at this point. It's going to be fun watching it play out !!
