B24
http://www.floridatoday.com/apps/pbcs.dll/...329/1002/sports That was the most pathetic article I've read in a while. Comparing a football player to a firefighter?
HoosierCat
That was the most pathetic article I've read in a while. Comparing a football player to a firefighter? Exactly. The concept that one is involved in saving lives and the other is, when you get right down to it, in the entertainment business, is completely lost on this dolt. kingwilly
First, he needs to look at the calendar, since it is not 1968. Like it or not, the awakening of the black professional athlete is part of the overall civil rights movement. Maybe he would prefer the era where atheltes, inlcuding black athletes, were domineered and coached by fear. I, myslef, would not.Second, fireman have a dramatic rate of alcohol abuse. They may not moonwalk but some drink themselves silly to dull the pain from seeing people who've lost everything, died, etc. His connection between the two is cmpletely invalid.Third, if Johnson keeps showing up players, he's not going to get hurt, he's going to the Pro Bowl.Fourth, by his logic only teams/players who have won playoff games can dance. This sounds like the immature rambling of the kid who would take "his" ball and go home when it wasn't going his way. Maybe his Mommy can make it all better... Lita
This is stupid. Football is fun, and CJ makes it that way. I don't know about everyone else, but I watch football because it's fun more than anything. Make the sport more boring? That's terrible idea! You'll turn it into baseball! How many playoff games have the Bengals won since he's been here? None. But guess he's a BIG peice of getting us there? Chad! He talks, but he's not like Keyshawn or somebody, he backs up every word. I'd take Chad over everyone but Randy Moss, and even then it would be close. This is a dumb article. ArmyBengal
What a F**KING assclown this guy is !!! Someone needs to F**K this guy up !!! A fireman comparison ?? Now come to think of it, all fireman should do the moonwalk after saving someones life !!! Why not do something that brings a little enjoyment to whatever it is you do ?? Some people just need something to b**ch about or maybe he's from Cleveland... WHODEY !!!
San Antonio Bengal
I think my IQ went down from reading that whining drivel. Oh, whine. Oh, cry.
cphillippi
How many playoff wins did Barry Sanders have because he didn't celebrate in the endzone? Barry Sanders didn't have fun playing football. That's why he ended his career early.
semiotter
Hey guys remember when you scored a TD .in pee wee, middle school or high school or collage for some of you. It made you feel GREAT!!!!! so imagine how that would feel....I really think its to big of a rush and they cant control it, (I couldnt)I mean all players do it white, black its all of them. So I dont really think its showboating its its high off scoring in the games...
alense
I got so pissed when I read this article that I had to write the editor. This is what I said...."In reference to Jim Cawley's article on Chad Johnson, he needs to do a little research before he adds his opinion to the public. First, I'm sorry that he wouldn't know entertainment if it slapped him across his face. If everyone wanted the boring game that he apparently strives for, Chad Johnson wouldn't be getting so much POSITIVE publicity from current players, former players, and REAL football analysts. Secondly, Johnson has never mocked another team. If Cawley would actually listen to the things that Chad says, he would know that Chad gives the utmost respect to everyone he faces. The list and his other antics are purely entertainment! Lastly, Marvin Lewis IS right in the middle of all of this and supports everything that Chad does because it is all in good context. The first time that Chad actually disrespects a team or player you had better bet that Marvin will take immediate action. The fact is that Jim Cawley is the only person who finds Chad Johnson's antics offensive, so he should just keep those views to himself."I live in Florida, so I take offense that morons like this represent a Florida Newspaper. I feel better now.
LABengalsFan09
This is what I wrote them...Let’s put life into perspective for just a moment. Last time I checked CJ was not putting his life on the line to save someone from a burning home much less a collapsing World Trade Center. So to compare the two shows a lack of class and overall feel for life and the GAME. I’m sure every Fire Tower in the country would tell you how they think breaking down a smoking door is just like a bull-rush to the QB. Besides, all this talk about how upset some people are about his celebrations is silly, you don’t like it? Then STOP him from catching TD passes every Sunday. Someone SHOULD stop Jim Crawley from picking up a keyboard though...
smith288
What I wrote:Firefighters aren’t entertainers though they are more than welcome to moonwalk. Chad gets paid to entertain. Jim Cawley is a schmuck. All factoids.
andybren
I guess we know now why he's only a copy editor. Very pithy argument, Mr. Cawley. Chad Johnson vs. Paul Brown, Barry Sanders and...firefighters? Was Mother Theresa too much of a media whore to make the cut?

Stripes
What's worse than him complaining about Chad's antics is him actually trying to diss Marvin in the process. If it weren't for Marvin's limitations, we would be getting penalized every time Chad scores. Hasn't he ever watched Bambi? If you don't have something nice to say then you shouldn't say anyting at all.

BengalszoneBilly
This Jim Cawley is probably Irish and is pissed that Chad does the Riverdance so much better than he does, and he even practices it everyday with his neighborhood dance team! Jealousy is sooo ugly.
ShulaSteakhouse
Yeah that was terrible.Last I checked firefighters weren't "entertainers" moron. This is a GAME, not life or death. How is doing a TD dance "showing up other players?" Is Chad the only player who performs TD celebrations? I don't think so. The Riverdance was short and sweet, and frankly hilarious. I still love the reaction from the sound guy in the background in Chicago when he did that "$##!!." Haha. Your Bears' are welcome to do the same on us when they score, who cares? How come TO doesn't make his hit list?
Lita
I don't even mind somebody dissing on Chad for this.. I mean, I can see where he's coming from and everything... trying to make the game more respectable or something like that. But the article barely made sense. The firefighter thing was ridiculous. And like CJ's personality is going to cost us games?Now... TO... TO's attitude is capable of costing them games.. and it hasn't yet. CJ isn't half as bad as that. All we have here is some guy watching Sportscenter and got mad because players are celebrating and not being chastized for it. If you don't like it, maybe you should stop watching Sportscenter. ^.^
