ArmyBengal Posted March 9 Report Posted March 9 For awareness purposes, our current starting DE's are Myles Murphy and Shemar Stewart. Cam Sample and Cedric Johnson are the backups. 1 Quote
Prophecy Posted March 9 Report Posted March 9 Meanwhile, my phone keeps getting spammed with articles about how the Bengals will "be very aggressive" in Free Agency 1 Quote
ArmyBengal Posted March 9 Report Posted March 9 No worries Prophecy, this is what pivoting looks like. Nothing to see here. Literally 2 Quote
ArmyBengal Posted March 9 Report Posted March 9 And I don't know what it is, outside of age, but whenever I see your screen name "Prophecy"... I read "Pharmacy". Maybe I should pivot to the eye doctor !! Quote
HoosierCat Posted March 9 Author Report Posted March 9 No one is ever getting a second contract in Cincy again, cont’d: ESPN Sources: Ravens free-agent center Tyler Linderbaum reached agreement today on a record deal with the Raiders, who are awarding him with a three-year, $81 million deal that includes $60 million guaranteed and makes him the highest paid interior offensive lineman in NFL history. Maybe I should pivot to the eye doctor !! Lol. I had to come up with a new name. Old account got locked out. May not remember, but i was on this site pretty heavily around 2005-2010. Mikey's going to bring up a vote in the next owner's meeting, to ban guaranteeing more than the 1st year of a contract. 1 Quote
HoosierCat Posted March 9 Author Report Posted March 9 Pivot alert from Charlie Clifford at wlwt: The Bengals are among the teams seriously pursuing DT John Franklin-Myers, per sources. The expectation continues to be that the Broncos free agent will be the first major domino to fall in defensive tackle class. Quote

He was literally one of the guys I suggested would get paid far more than their talent suggests. The other teams know that and stay away. The Bengals are hot in pursuit !! 1 Quote
Prophecy Posted March 9 Report Posted March 9 This would be how things would play out if the Bengals had a Real GM. Imaginary GM: Hey Mike, we can get Rashan Gary for a 4th RD pick. Mike Brown: But then we'd have to pay him, right? Imaginary GM: Hey Mike, we can get Minkah Fitzpatrick for a 7th Rd Pick. Mike Brown: But then we'd have to pay him, right? 1 Quote
HoosierCat Posted March 9 Author Report Posted March 9 Context: in 2023 the Bengals signed Orland Brown Jr. to a 4-year, $64 million deal to play LT. Today (per schefter): Former Bills G David Edwards is signing a 4-year, $61 million deal with the Saints, per source. Pity poor Mikey, his eyes must be bleeding... Quote
ArmyBengal Posted March 9 Report Posted March 9 If the Bengals were smart, they would trade away all their players currently no longer playing on their rookie deal for more picks and then have a team full of rookie deal players. That way moving forward, as Hoosier has suggested, the Bengals will never again have to worry about overpaying for a player on their next contract or overpaying free agents. Rookie Deal- Bring him on 2nd Contract- Too expensive 3rd Contract- Too expensive 4th Contract- Too old Quote

In my younger days, I didn't mistake Prophecy and Pharmacy. Thanks. Glad to be back. I see a lot of familiar names i remember from the past. You, Hoosier, TJJackson, Volcom, COB and many more. One guy i havent seen since I've been back (hope he's still ok) is BengalszoneBilly? Quote
ArmyBengal Posted March 9 Report Posted March 9 Unfortunately Billy passed away more than a handful of years ago. He is certainly missed on the board. 1 Quote
COB Posted March 9 Report Posted March 9 1 hour ago, HoosierCat said: Ossai a Jet. 3 years, $36m, $22.5m guaranteed. Per Schefter. Fucking bullshit. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted March 9 Report Posted March 9 1 minute ago, COB said: Fucking bullshit. Ladies and gentleman, I give you an example of someone that isn't aware of the pivot technique. Poor soul 2 Quote

COB Posted March 9 Report Posted March 9 JFM would be a gigantic upgrade. Mike’s granddaughters must have put the work in on JFM. Stud running back Kenneth Walker to the Chiefs. They cleared a shit load of cap space by redoing Mahomes deal, now they are deploying that money. Quote

Do the Bengals know he's going to turn 30 at the beginning of the season? Does JFM know the Bengals don't hand out guarantees to old fuckers? Quote
HoosierCat Posted March 9 Author Report Posted March 9 Burrow is jealous (schefter): Quote Former Chargers G Zion Johnson reached agreement today on a three-year, $49.5 million deal including $32.4 million guaranteed with the Cleveland Browns, per his agents Alan Herman and Jared Fox. Quote
Prophecy Posted March 9 Report Posted March 9 JFM signing with the Titans 3 years $63m with $42m guaranteed All while Mikey's taking his afternoon nap Quote
HoosierCat Posted March 9 Author Report Posted March 9 Details of Ossai's deal are already up: https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/player/_/id/72450/joseph-ossai Basically it's a 2-year, $23 million deal ($11.5m AAV), all but $500k of which is guaranteed. $6.5m cap hit in 2026, $13.5m in 2027. If he plays well enough to earn the final year it will almost certainly be extended, and if not he gets cut and Jets free up $11m in cap space. I note all this not because it's unusual but because it's not. But the Bengals would never match it because of the guaranteed salary in year 2. Quote
