ArmyBengal Posted Wednesday at 02:04 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 02:04 PM Well, with Scherff retiring I think Risner knows he doesn't have to just join any old team. If he has faith in himself, he should be able to look at the Bengals o-line situation and realize there is a fairly simple path to starting. If he doesn't think he can beat out Cody Ford, I don't want him. Quote
AMPHAR Posted Wednesday at 02:52 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 02:52 PM You got to question why he is available in August. 1 Quote
ArmyBengal Posted Wednesday at 03:36 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 03:36 PM Yes, but as with all things, injuries and poor performance makes teams look for "potentially" better options. Risner is that... Potentially better. I think you take the chance on potential as opposed to riding with crap. It might not work out but still. Quote
AMPHAR Posted Wednesday at 05:56 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 05:56 PM Volson news: Likely out for season. So there you go. Quote
COB Posted Wednesday at 06:11 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 06:11 PM Volson could fall off a bridge and I wouldn’t care. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted Wednesday at 06:20 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 06:20 PM Depth, depth, depth. It's kind of important. With that news about Volson, this is what I was talking about when it comes to Risner. His potential becomes more valued. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted Wednesday at 06:23 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 06:23 PM Risner got paid less than $2.5 million last year. Just get him signed already. Quote
HoosierCat Posted Wednesday at 06:44 PM Author Report Posted Wednesday at 06:44 PM Cutdowns are coming so there should be some options to replace Volson. Might even find one of those classic OWUDs (Old Washed-Up Dudes) who could start in a pinch (like week 2 forward!). Quote
gregcook69 Posted Wednesday at 10:37 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 10:37 PM https://www.google.com/gasearch?q=how much money is hendrickson guaranteed if he sits&source=sh/x/gs/m2/5 https://www.google.com/gasearch?q=will hendrickson get fined for every game he sits&source=sh/x/gs/m2/5 If this is true, at this late stage in the game I see Hendrickson between a rock and hard place. Sitting out, at this stage, would be a silly move, losing an arm and a leg financially, and being a year older he will NEVER get what he wants next year! I think it’s too late for the Bengals to give in OR anyone trading and giving him what he wants. i think he caves and accepts the deal then retires after the contract ends, if he’s got any common sense! AMPHAR Posted Thursday at 12:28 AM Report Posted Thursday at 12:28 AM Hassan Reddick lost money holding out. Did not recoup what he lost AND what he could have signed for before the holdout. Trey is holding in to avoid fines. Maybe he doesn't care about bigger dollars of game checks? Quote

HoosierCat Posted Thursday at 02:32 PM Author Report Posted Thursday at 02:32 PM A couple notes from Hobs. BJ Hill scheduled to fully return to practice today. Patrick's injury wasn't as bad as they feared, he's now day-to-day, could go if absolutely needed. (Related: per Conway at the Enquirer, Rivers ran with the first team in practice yesterday.) Murphy, Burton, Gesicki, Sample and Turner also in the day-to-day category. Matt Lee back at practice yesterday. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted Thursday at 03:33 PM Report Posted Thursday at 03:33 PM Well in listening to Logan Wilson's interview, there's nothing to worry about on the defensive side of things. Not sure what they've been watching from the first two games, but it leaves a lot to be desired. I get they don't run the same schemes and keep things simple, but they've looked horrendous. Put me in the camp of believing it when I see it. Maybe the "Doubting Bengal" ?? Quote
HoosierCat Posted Thursday at 04:23 PM Author Report Posted Thursday at 04:23 PM All I know is that every time we hear, "oh, it will be fine, it's just preseason" type talk, it never turns out to be fine once the real thing starts. Quote
AMPHAR Posted Thursday at 06:05 PM Report Posted Thursday at 06:05 PM Preseason goes either way. Best not to get caught up in the conjecture one way or the other. This is first Zac preseason when starters have played this much and they really haven't much at all. But at face value: O-line looks good. Defense - shit. Doesn't mean crap they've played less than 40 snaps. O-line even fewer pass protection opportunities which is what people care about when judging an o-line today. Defense has had several core guys out of the line up. I wouldn't boast or doom either unit at this stage. Quote
COB Posted Friday at 06:29 PM Report Posted Friday at 06:29 PM One may be a little underpaid playing for the Bengals. But it’s a trade off. Because in your later years you can have a career in the cottage industry that can best be described as shitting all over the Brown family any time they try to do anything. Current iteration: Boomer gets invited to ring of honor ceremony, but nothing about the event is good enough. So in the media he mocks the invite. With friends/former players like this, who needs enemies? Quote
AMPHAR Posted Friday at 08:03 PM Report Posted Friday at 08:03 PM Word to the wise, never invite Boomer to your wedding. He'll be airing your ass out on social media about the menu and open bar offerings. WTF? Its their Ring of Honor halftime party. Don't like it, don't come. AND your motherfucking ass sucked during Superbowl 23. There I said it. 1 Quote
HoosierCat Posted Saturday at 12:05 AM Author Report Posted Saturday at 12:05 AM FWIW Goodberry has a vid out now covering all of Rivers’ snaps vs DC. Tl;dw yeah it’s preseason but they might have finally got one of those late round flyers right (guard). https://youtu.be/sYBrTiL7zRs?si=r97DT_HfJURRskbV Quote
Stripes Posted Saturday at 12:27 AM Report Posted Saturday at 12:27 AM That’d be nice since Fairchild looks awesome. About time to hit one some. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted Saturday at 12:31 AM Report Posted Saturday at 12:31 AM Maybe now they will take the Boomer hype video off the Jumbotron at the stadium. I mean what screams “HYPE” more than a loud mouth, has been, clown show? Allow me to dust this one off… FUCK YOU AND YOUR STUPID NAME BOOMER !! Quote

He was up and down at tackle, but the fact they tried him there and inserted him with 1s when Mims missed a couple practices was telling. Long way to go, but I don't get the panic over the O-line JUST based on preseason snaps. Using that data point alone, the line looks solid. Now factor in its just preseason and the history I don't think they come close to proving anything. Quote
