HoosierCat Posted 22 hours ago Report Posted 22 hours ago Schefty: Quote Bengals are re-signing cornerback Marco Wilson to a one-year, $1.52 million deal. Deal negotiated by Drew Rosenhaus and Robert Bailey. Quote
COB Posted 21 hours ago Report Posted 21 hours ago With the cap flying up every year, a team like the bengals might be smart to radically rethink their strategy in regards to big contracts. Three years of watching JaMarr Chase play, and it is very apparent he’s a top 3 or 4 receiver in the nfl. Maybe even two years. Just extend him then. You get to do the extension within the context of the existing cap. Yes, you lose 2 or 3 years of a price controlled rookie deal. But you can offset that with the savings in the later years of the deal. The advantages- You have a major piece (like TJ’s Granny) to build your offense around. You bring stability to your offense. You avoid the circus of distractions these situations bring. You free up what in our case are very limited front office resources, negotiating resources, and allow those resources to focus on making other positions better. the Disadvantages: There is risk. Bad injury or the player takes his foot off the gas. Also, the guaranteed money and the escrow rules could cause Smithsonian level sock garter collection to have to be auctioned off. Quote

ArmyBengal Posted 20 hours ago Author Report Posted 20 hours ago With Trey, I think it was them simply kicking the argument about compensation another year into the future but knew it was an issue. Should he have bet on himself and not sign the deal given? I would guess yes, but many times that doesn’t pan out. Agree more on him than the FO, but here we are. Also agree with not thinking they had long term plans for Tee. I have always thought he was the odd man out and then Burrow and Burton happened. I still think they cheaper out when extensions were coming last year for WR. Had they simply offered him Pittman’s deal for Indy, he would have bought. That was 3 years at $23.3m per year, with an out after two which would have protected the Bengals. They paid Tee 21.3 in 2024 on the tag. Now they are looking closer to $30m. Chase? I guess they figured for how little they paid him last year, it makes up for a little of what they pay him now. Although they would love to only pay him his $21m club option for 2025. So would I but that shits foul. 1 Quote

He was such a good pass blocker on 3rd downs, and when he got the ball he was crazy north south. Like he was up to speed in about one step. Really hurt to see him go to Denver, I can’t recall what the issue with keeping him was. If he’s the same player or close to it we just got a lot better in the offensive backfield, especially on 3rd downs. Also, we were kind of running our young guy into the ground, it’ll be good to lessen his load. there was some stuff about Denver promising feature back role then they basically lied or it didn't work out. He was on the trade block once during 2022/2023 or maybe it was rumor. He got cut right before 2024 season. I hope he is the same player because he's another weapon catching out of the backfield and that's a good combo with is pass blocking. Little less unpredictable. Quote

It goes both ways Chase elected to only get paid $5m for a triple crown season. Is he going to do the same in 2025 and only get paid $21m? Look how fast AJ Green fell apart and he was playing games with his contract at the time his ankle got rolled into on that Dayton surface. Its a spread of about $43m of JJ's total cash through 2025 and what Chase will get paid without an extension. Quote
COB Posted 16 hours ago Report Posted 16 hours ago JFC are the Browns actually going to start Kenny Pickett next year? Worst owner in sports. Quote
AMPHAR Posted 16 hours ago Report Posted 16 hours ago So are they not going to have a Jeff Ruby's dinner this year? Kinda sad. Quote
COB Posted 15 hours ago Report Posted 15 hours ago I’m going through the dumpster behind Jeff Ruby’s right now. It’s kind of creepy. Not the dumpster, it’s awesome. But Baker Mayfield is sitting back here in an SUV muttering to himself. 1 Quote
TJJackson Posted 15 hours ago Report Posted 15 hours ago Just so you know, Jeff Ruby's is on their very worst day ten tiers above Cheesecake Factory in every aspect of what a restaurant can be except for having large quantities of mediocre cheesecake on hand Quote

TJJackson Posted 6 hours ago Report Posted 6 hours ago Lets get Teven Jenkins to make Mem happy Mem wanted Jenkins all along, and in that draft we almost had him, but the Bengals traded down and got the rapist instead Imagine this team with Teven Jenkins instead of the rapist for the last few years Quote
Stripes Posted 5 hours ago Report Posted 5 hours ago Hard to say since Jenkins failed as a tackle. But I am definitely on board now. Get a damned guard. Cody Ford doesn’t count. Quote
TJJackson Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago On second thought, I'd rather have Risner Quote
