Average to above average run stopper and space eater, not much pass rush. Basically the big nose we lacked. Should be a solid rotational guy. Quote
TJJackson Posted Monday at 10:03 PM Report Posted Monday at 10:03 PM I saw a stat that Slayton had the highest run stop rate in the nfl last year from Liscow also he's a TJ -- so he cant be too bad :-) Quote
Stripes Posted Monday at 10:10 PM Report Posted Monday at 10:10 PM PFF seems to hate Slaton. So I’m on board. Quote
AMPHAR Posted Monday at 11:17 PM Report Posted Monday at 11:17 PM Bengals sign reserve Eagles LB Oren Burks. To a cheap deal. Davis Gaither moving on to Cardinals. Quote
AMPHAR Posted Monday at 11:25 PM Report Posted Monday at 11:25 PM Slaton is a rotational run stuffer. His highlights look like he'll give them some pursuit in the run game which was sorely needed. I like that about Jackson's rookie year too. Hopefully they can get some decent rotation going and get BJ back to a 500 snap or less player. Nothing they've done for the D is earth shattering just depth. They are working to bring back Ossai. Have an offer out to Trey, but we'll see how that shakes out. They've passively blamed Lou in the offseason about the shit performance of the D. If they get most the band back together I think it reinforces that thought. I kinda agree with it. But I'm also an idiot. So we'll see. IMO, it wasn't a great FA class to begin with so I don't think there's a "hell yeah" moment for the D unless they get Trey to return. But ultimately it looks like we'll get a clear answer to was it Lou or lack of talent? Quote

HoosierCat Posted yesterday at 03:25 AM Report Posted yesterday at 03:25 AM ATTN ARMY ARMY TO THE WHITE COURTESY PHONE PLEASE. DDN reporting we signed a linebacker. Quote The Cincinnati Bengals continue to address needs in free agency, now adding former Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Oren Burks. According to reports, the Bengals have come to terms with Burks on a two-year, $5 million deal with an opportunity to potentially start. Burks, an eight-year player in 2025, turns 30 this month and has just 17 starts to his resume, but turns heads during the Eagles’ Super Bowl run this past season. Burks has played 15 games or more in the past five seasons, including all 17 regular-season contests for the Eagles last year with two starts. He appeared in all four playoff games and stepped in for injured Nakobe Dean for the final three games. Burks had five tackles and played in 98.2 percent of the defensive snaps during the Eagles’ Super Bowl win over the Kansas City Chiefs, and he had nine tackles, a tackle for loss and a sack in the NFC Championship game. This will be Burks’ fourth team in the last five seasons. He originally was a third-round pick of the Green Bay Packers in 2018 and after four years with the Packers, he signed with the San Francisco 49ers and spent two seasons there. https://www.daytondailynews.com/sports/bengals-reportedly-adding-former-eagles-linebacker/GEN2YFLZUNAUTOHEW372FCD6QU/ 30 years old, 17 starts. Well, ok, that’s interesting. Quote
TJJackson Posted yesterday at 06:50 AM Report Posted yesterday at 06:50 AM I like Ossai, but I think he could have been signed for 3-4M range The eagles linebacker is a career backup who flourished at the end of the year when one of the Eagles starters went down, and we got him fairly cheap. He's the ADG replacement No one is talking about Samaje.....do you all think he is over the hill? Quote
Stripes Posted 22 hours ago Report Posted 22 hours ago I doubt Perine makes any meaningful difference. But he’s fine. I don’t figure any of these signings really moves the needle. Slaton could if he works out. Gimme a guard. Quote

ArmyBengal Posted 18 hours ago Author Report Posted 18 hours ago Didn’t realize Tevin Jenkins, the LG from the Bears was out there. He had some injury concerns early on but has done well in recent seasons. Get him and Zeitler for the o-line. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted 18 hours ago Author Report Posted 18 hours ago Not sure where that puts them money wise for the trio yet to be addressed but something has to give. Boy the Bengals really blew not getting them done earlier. Quote

That kinda concerns me about Jenkins with back problems that flopped at RT first. Quote

If I remember when he came out of college some questioned him playing OT with his shorter arms, thought a move inside might be his way, and that he may take some time to develop. I would be fine seeing if he’s just hitting his potential on a deal structured where the Bengals have an out. His signing still wouldn’t keep me from drafting an OG. Quote
COB Posted 16 hours ago Report Posted 16 hours ago How in the hell is Kevin Zeitler still playing at a high level in the nfl? Quote
COB Posted 16 hours ago Report Posted 16 hours ago Thrilled to have Perine back. He was such a good pass blocker on 3rd downs, and when he got the ball he was crazy north south. Like he was up to speed in about one step. Really hurt to see him go to Denver, I can’t recall what the issue with keeping him was. If he’s the same player or close to it we just got a lot better in the offensive backfield, especially on 3rd downs. Also, we were kind of running our young guy into the ground, it’ll be good to lessen his load. 1 Quote

Boy the Bengals really blew not getting them done earlier. I would agree and disagree. On Chase, I agree. They had the deal pretty much done last year but got stubborn as usual on guarantees and now it's going to cost them big time. 100% on the FO. On Hendrickson, well, they *did* pay him! And now he's crying that they didn't pay him enough. Well, whose fault is that, dumbass? No one held a gun to your head and made you sign that extension. I put that 100% on Hendrickson. On Tee, I continue to believe they had no plans to re-sign him until Burton imploded and Burrow made it an issue. I think you can argue that plan either way. But it is what it is now, and the result is a higher price tag than if they had made a different call two years ago. If anything I have to give the FO some small props here for adjusting and not stubbornly plowing on. Quote
