AMPHAR Posted April 4 Report Posted April 4 Risner would be a decent add. Not sure if it will happen but there's a couple guys that have been available and for whatever reason haven't gotten phone calls from anybody. League can be weird like that. Quinton Spain went from starting in the Superbowl to no one wanting him not even for a look. Quote

That's because Quinton Spain fluffed the block that cost us the super bowl and everyone saw it, so no one wanted him. Quote
TJJackson Posted April 4 Report Posted April 4 Hehe. in all seriousness, I consider the pass blocking issues to be just as serious as the pass rushing problems on this team Maybe a bit more serious since it involves Burrow's health, and he is one of my neighbors :-) Risner is arguably THE best pass blocker in the FA market Quote
Stripes Posted April 4 Report Posted April 4 I’d love to have Risner. We’re going to do squat until the draft. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted April 4 Author Report Posted April 4 I’m surprised Risner is still out there. I honestly lost track because I thought he was gone. Agree they should sign him. Much better than anything we current have on the roster. I’m sure asking price may be a concerning thought, but he’s a starter for us for sure. Quote
TJJackson Posted April 4 Report Posted April 4 regarding asking price: Prior to FA, he was/is projected to make about 3.5 to 4.5M this year He made 2.5M last year and thats to the market, not considering a team he WANTS to go to Quote
HoosierCat Posted April 9 Report Posted April 9 The Bengals today signed free agent LB Joe Giles-Harris to a one-year contract for the 2025 season. Originally a college free agent signee of Jacksonville in 2019, Giles-Harris (6-2, 234) was on Cincinnati's practice squad for one game late last season. He also has spent time on the practice squads and rosters of the Jaguars ('19-20 and '24), the Buffalo Bills ('21 and '22) and the New England Patriots (2023 and '24). He has played in 22 total NFL games with three starts and recorded 20 tackles and one sack on defense, as well as 10 tackles on special teams. He will be classified as a second-year player in 2025. https://www.bengals.com/news/bengals-sign-lb-joe-giles-harris-bengals-roster-update Quote
ArmyBengal Posted April 9 Author Report Posted April 9 I read that as well. Just think it was worth mentioning. In a handful of months, he will be gone again. Good luck young man ?? Quote

COB Posted April 18 Report Posted April 18 I was reading about Adeniji going to the cowboys. I didn’t have my glasses on, was squinting to read. One of those ads that is just inserted in the middle of the story appeared with a hot looking woman in a video talking. It was enough to make me put my glasses on and to my horror it was not some hot babe but instead was America’s wise cracking sitcom granny, Reba McIntyre. 1 Quote
HoosierCat Posted Monday at 04:46 PM Report Posted Monday at 04:46 PM With the draft over, I would expect FA activity to tick up again. Bengals have about $23.4 million in cap space per OTC. All indications are that Pratt will be released soon. That frees up another $5.8 million, which should about cover the rookie signings, so that's a wash. Volson is on the books for $3.8 million this season. If he gets cut, Bengals get almost all of that, about $3.6 million, back in cap space. Have to think that's on the table given the way the coaches have been swooning over Fairchild. Cutting Moss would have saved another $3.3 million against the cap, but they re-did his deal recently and I still haven't seen details. So there may not be any savings there to speak of anymore. And if they are still interested in a long-term deal with Trey they have over $40 million in cap space to play with since he already counts nearly $19 million against the current cap. But I think that ship may have sailed last Thursday. I'm not expecting any signings by them right now, but they are in good shape in case of a workout/camp injury or if someone unexpected comes open. AMPHAR Posted Monday at 05:38 PM Report Posted Monday at 05:38 PM I wonder if they attempt a Dax Hill extension this early. They've picked up the 5th year for 2026 but wondering if they would try. They've already proclaimed him as their best CB in 2024. Cam Taylor Britt. Wonder if they would try an extension as well this early. I would think they'd make him prove it this year. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted Monday at 06:02 PM Author Report Posted Monday at 06:02 PM I would hope they wouldn't hand out an extension to either of them. Dax has had 2-3 position moves and has been hurt. CTB I would have said yes and then last year happened. He bought into his hype and then sucked. Give it half way through the season and see where they stand. If they are all all set, do it then. I'd rather them move on if there are questions, as opposed to handing them option money at this point. Quote
HoosierCat Posted Monday at 06:03 PM Report Posted Monday at 06:03 PM Yeah I looked at the 2026 FA list and those were the only two names that I saw that might merit an early extension. Probably not but who knows. Quote
AMPHAR Posted Monday at 06:11 PM Report Posted Monday at 06:11 PM I guess the Bengals haven't officially picked up Dax's 5th year option. Spotrac is just showing the cap hit IF it were to happen, I guess. If they don't that leaves them with potential two starting CBs hitting FA in the same off season. They have til May 1st. Quote

HoosierCat Posted Tuesday at 03:41 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 03:41 PM Details of Moss' new deal have finally dribbled out. He took about a $1.7 million haircut, tho he did get $375k guaranteed in return. Cap number comes down to $3.1 million from $4.8 million. Bengals total cap space rises to just over $25 million, per OTC. If Moss gets cut, add another $1.2 million. https://overthecap.com/player/zack-moss/8826 Quote
ArmyBengal Posted Tuesday at 03:48 PM Author Report Posted Tuesday at 03:48 PM Should have cut him before reworking his deal. 1 Quote
