AMPHAR
Biggest healthy team questions I have: 1. Right Tackle - Its been a thorn for Burrow's career with Jonah Williams giving them best but an average season. 2. Overall OL - led by the interior spots. Just an under whelming group overall even with fan favorite Karras. 3. Mixon, Boyd switched out for who????? A lot of veteran snaps gone; not impossible to replace hopefully it doesn't prove as difficult as the lost secondary players a year before 4. Speaking of Secondary. Easily the biggest concern for me entering the season while simultaneously being the biggest area of upside. I would say if everything comes up good it would not be a shock to the secondary among the leagues best. I've got zero concern about Chase, Higgins, and Burrow putting up numbers. The only concern would be injury which no body can control.
HoosierCat
I feel reasonably…optimistic about the oline and RT. Not confident, but optimistic. I think they will be better. Whether “better” ends up being good enough, we’ll see. Yeah, I would hate to see Mixon/Boyd be this year’s version of Perine/Hurst. Seems like the replacement plan is Moss/Gesicki. I’m comfortable enough with lineup of WRs after Chase and Tee that I’m not too worried if Gesicki flops. Moss tho…all I can say is the Goodberry statsball crowd better be right. Secondary could be good. Could also suck. I have no feel for what we are going to get on D this year. That yahoo piece is a good reminder of just how badly the D stank last season. My biggest fear right now is that yes, the secondary will look awesome, because no one need throw the ball as we won’t be able to stop the run. ArmyBengal
My personal truth is that I have no idea other than speculating. Let me give it a try however... I think the o-line should be at least somewhat better. I like the addition of both T. Brown and A. Mims at the RT tackle spot. It's at least a wash from Jonah in 2023. We need a healthy season from Cappa and more improvement from Volson and OB Jr. from last year. I think Karras is fine. I think the WR's are fine. The loss of Boyd will be mitigated by the addition of Gesicki and Burton/Jones. The tight end room looks to be better than last year with Gesicki having an opportunity for a big season. Still think we should have locked him up for two years. a 6'6 TE who can catch and make plays is nice to have. RB is a concern in that I just don't know if Zack Moss is going to be able to replicate what he did over a short period in Indy and translate it into a whole season. If he does, we have a steal in acquiring him. Chase Brown getting more snaps can only be seen as a positive. I liked Mixon, but if those two stay healthy, they should be able to come close to replicating as well. For the D-line, the starters of Hubbard, Hendrickson, Rankins and Hill seems like a little of a drop without Reader, but I like the depth of Murphy at DE and Jenkins at DT. Would it be too much to ask Carter and Ossai/Sample to have at least solid seasons in rotation? I'm more hopeful than anything. The linebackers seem fine at the starting positions, but I do not share the same comfort level with the depth that others seem ok with. I've said for years, this is a position I feel they should address more, but this is where we are. Better hope for no injuries in that group. Cornerbacks could be a problem or could be great. I'm left to be hopeful with DJ Turner starting opposite of CTB. I'm interested to see what Dax might be able to help with in his switch from safety. I heard good things coming out about the coaches thoughts on Josh Newton, although I am not yet a fan of that pick and then you have Ivey who is coming back from injury that appeared to be coming along well last year. Not exactly comfortable here either. I actually like the addition of Stone to the safety group. Hard to fathom them being worse in 2024. Vonn Bell coming back will add veteran leadership and an understanding of the defense, if nothing else. Battle will be pushing for the starter spot vs Bell from day one. The depth appears thin there as well, but I like this group. Low bar to achieve better results from last year, so there's that. Overall, while I have my concerns I think Zac and the front office did about a good a job as they could getting the roster together for this coming season. While some might not pan out, there is great potential for this team in 2024 should they hit. Stone and Gesicki have the potential for monster years on their respective sides of the ball, with Zack Moss right behind them. Please God let Burrow stay healthy and this team dominate in 2024. Amen.

COB
The Lions kicker completely wrecked his leg and is out for the season. That’s not something that happens every year.
TJJackson
apparently he was named all-UFL for 2024 as well, for whats that worth depth is good I am guessing the 5th round corner isnt wowing them quite enough little concerned about this guy;s speed.....draft profile says 4.62 40, which is slow for a safety, not to mention a corner

TJJackson
Bengals sign Hakeem Butler, Ryan Rehkow, and Nate Brooks (msn.com) Butler (WR) has a really nice RAS, great speed to size ration. the punter (Rehkow) signing is puzzling.....are they not getting good results from Robbins or the new highly touted UDCFA? Rehkow is a 25 year old rookie 2024 UDCFA who had a cup of coffee with the Chiefs before they released him about a month ago also Burrow practiced punting today. WTF dude. How many punters we need? :-)

ArmyBengal
So Betfred apparently is leaving Ohio and taking it’s sports betting deal with the Bengals with it. Well, add another dollar to sodas, beers and dogs.
HoosierCat
Quote A federal judge tossed out a jury’s $4.7 billion judgment against the NFL over the price of its NFL Sunday Ticket subscriptions, concluding that the experts put forth by the class action plaintiffs were using faulty economic models. U.S. District Court Judge Philip S. Gutierrez granted the league’s motion for judgment as a matter of law, ruling that, without the reliable expert witnesses, it was “impossible for a jury to determine on a class-wide basis that Sunday Ticket subscribers would have indeed paid less in the absence of Defendants’ anticompetitive conduct. https://deadline.com/2024/08/nfl-sunday-ticket-class-action-verdict-1236029705/
AMPHAR
I can't wait for sports betting to die off. So tired of listening to people's prop bets and other shit on normal programming. I think you’ll be waiting a looooooong time. But yeah I’m sick of it too. It was bad enough when fantasy took over everything, now this. ArmyBengal
I absolutely love fantasy football but don't want to hear anything about it while I'm watching a game. I hate all the betting conversation as well, as I just see all that as nonsense when I'm trying to watch and listen to the game. I recall one thing I like but it has been some time ago. I had DirecTV when I was in the military and of course had the Sunday Ticket so I could watch my Bengals games. At that time, you could plug in your fantasy football team players and if they scored during their game, I would get a pop up notice on the screen. I thought that was pretty cool, because it was specific to me and the stupid analysts weren't commenting about it. Not sure if they or anyone else still has something like that, but since I moved back to Cincinnati when I retired from the Army, I just watch the games on regular TV. Stripes
I hadn't cooked up an all-time 53-man roster since about 2019, so I tried again. So many recent players warrant mention, so it's an overhaul. Obviously this is pointless, but we're all nerdy enough to post on an internet message board forum, so take it anyway. I'd imagine head coach could invite some controversy (and I think it's very close with Wyche). Underlines denote starters. I decided to include a classical number of players per position group (e.g., overrepresented linebackers), but apply a modern-era arrangement of starters to get a taste of both worlds. QB (3) - Ken Anderson, Joe Burrow, Boomer Esiason RB (4) - Corey Dillon, James Brooks, Joe Mixon, Rudi Johnson FB (1) - Pete Johnson WR (6) - Chad Johnson, Isaac Curtis, Ja'Marr Chase, AJ Green, Carl Pickens, TJ Houshmandzadeh TE (3) - Bob Trumpy, Dan Ross, Rodney Holman OL (8) - Anthony Muñoz, Willie Anderson, Andrew Whitworth, Max Montoya, Bob Johnson, Richie Braham, Bruce Kozerski, Dave Lapham DE (5) - Carlos Dunlap, Trey Hendrickson, Justin Smith, Eddie Edwards, Michael Johnson DT (4) - Geno Atkins, Tim Krumrie, Domata Peko, Dan Wilkinson LB (6) - Reggie Williams, Vontaze Burfict, Logan Wilson, James Francis, Brian Simmons, Germaine Pratt S (4) - David Fulcher, Jessie Bates, Tommy Casanova, Reggie Nelson CB (6) - Lemar Parrish, Ken Riley, Leon Hall, Adam Jones, Deltha O'Neal, Mike Hilton (nickel)* P (1) - Kevin Huber K (1) - Evan McPherson LS (1) - Clark Harris HC - Zac Taylor OC - Bill Walsh DC - Mike Zimmer
