Come on Bengals.  Pick a magic offensive tackle that can magically start from the 4th round.

Pick a witch doctor who can heal La’el Collins’ knee ligaments.

There's your Tyler Boyd replacement a year from now. He was on the wish list for a lot of folks. I am good with this.

This has been a really great draft as far as prospects skill… I guess cheering to get a top 150 tackle player was too far fetched . Or the board just didn’t go how they’ve liked

Alluded to a TB replacement earlier.

110 receptions for over 1300 yards and possesses 4.3 speed ??  Yes please, another great luck with return skills. Loving their planning and focus on speed.

This pick gets another A from me.

And, yes, he can return punts and kicks:

Pretty clear that helped put him over the top versus a number of others available in this spot.

yeah. I am pumped. He can help now and later. Like, REALLY help. Like he was made in a lab to work with Joe Burrow as his QB.

Chase, Higgins, Boyd, Irwin, Jones, Taylor, Morgan? Seven is a lot, but it makes sense. Taylor may be redundant, so if they want six, then Taylor/Jones is the battle.

Charlie Jones, Purdue

6’0, 186 40 time: 4.43 Purdue   4th Round

Overview: Jones found his footing last season at Purdue leading the nation in total receptions (110 and 13 games). Lightly recruited out of high school. He spent two years at Buffalo before transferring to Iowa and working as a return specialist. He started in 2021 but poor quarterback play helped him off the draft radar. After uncapping his potential at Purdue, he should be able to see steady, playing time on office and special teams in the NFL.

Strengths: snappy foot work with great lower body quickness. Comfortable and experienced working outside. Capable hands when he has to go after passes above the rim. Quick to snap back on curl routes. Changes direction with great efficiency and won’t get hung up in transition. Maintained his momentum through the catch point, and keeps his stride steady. Incredibly productive returner at Iowa and Purdue. Follows his blocks and plays with natural vision.

Weaknesses: body catcher, who will use his frame rather than going out to get passes. Shows extra movement on his releases, and will be late to get separation at times. Gets pushed around at the Catchpoint and lacks the strength or control to win without space. Has trouble finishing when passes are arriving over his shoulder.

Pro Comp:  Andy Isabella, Ravens - Jones likes the speed of Isabella, but his size and style run along the same lines. He’ll need to reel in some of the free styling he does with his releases, but he has the necessary movement skills to be a reliable slot receiver.

Grade: 6.5
