HoosierCat
Hobs: Quote Thursday's Bengals injury report, which followed the most intense practice of the short week, remained pretty much unchanged. But starting cornerback Eli Apple (ankle) was added to the limited section while Higgins (hamstring) went full. Hubbard didn't practice again and Hendrickson was limited. So were starting cornerbacks Mike Hilton (ankle) and Cam Taylor-Britt (shoulder), punt returner Trent Taylor (hamstring) and backup slot cornerback Jalen Davis (thumb). But head coach Zac Taylor is hoping those guys are trending like starting tight end Hayden Hurst (calf), still listed as limited but sounding ready to play after injuring it in the second drive of the Dec. 4 win over the Chiefs pushing off on a route. AMPHAR
With anything awards related in the NFL, if you are a Bengal player you must leave no doubt in a major stat category or slowly build up a following. Often Bengal players get recognized after a couple of seasons or more of high level play. The Cincinnati sports media simply isn't that big and neither is the fan base. A deserving Bengal player gets snubbed the outrage will be muffled compared to others. You can see that in the pre season projections. Universally it seemed the Bengals were picked as fall off and a fluke. Back when Marvin got 5 years and 6 out of 7 years in the playoffs, almost every year the Bengals were picked to be the playoff team that wouldn't return. Meanwhile when national people talk about the Ravens or Steelers defense its completely based on yesteryear players and accomplishments. COB
We’re the Bengals, we’re the Arby’s of the sports world. We’re great but there’s a single car in the drive thru and it’s a 2002 Honda accord with it he doughnut spare installed on the drivers side front.
HoosierCat
You have to admit, that 1990 Lumina over in the employee parking spot looks brand new, tho.
ArmyBengal
I will let you know that 2002 Honda Accord probably has like 237,000 miles on it. The driver is 86 years old and half blind. The tire shop sold him a full sized replacement, charged him full price and then installed the donut. I mean what the fuck do you expect ?? Just give him his Steakhouse Onion Rings and Cherry Turnover and get him the hell out of the way.
COB
Discourteous teens working the drive thru insulted our elderly friend in the Accord.
ArmyBengal
They better be careful, our partially blind friend's nickname is "Lucky" and he carries a shotgun in his trunk.

Stripes
The Bengals clinch tonight if the Jaguars win. It doesn't mean much, since just about every model has the Bengals as shoe-ins at this point even if they lose out. But it'll be nice to have some kind of symbolic rooting interest. Duuuuval or whatever

HoosierCat
Quite the baseball game. Jags might be a threat if they had a defense, tho as soon as i write that they get a stop
Stripes
Zach Wilson is one of the worst first round QBs I’ve ever seen.

Stripes
At this point, I think Zach Wilson is entering Ryan Leaf/Akili Smith/Jamarcus Russell territory.

Stripes
TJ’s granny leads a valiant drive into the red zone but turns it over on downs. Playoff clinch looking good.

Stripes
Playoffs are clinched. It was already essentially a lock, but let’s officially put that “10% of 0-2 teams make the playoffs” crap to sleep. Most 0-2 teams don’t have Joe Burrow.

Very few 0-2 teams do make the playoffs, precisely because the don’t have Joe Burrow.
Stripes
Yeah, that’s what I mean. Nobody with Joe Burrow on their team needs to worry about stats like that.
HoosierCat
Hobs was ready to go: Quote PROVIDENCE, R.I. _ A couple of hours after huddling with his offensive line around a ballroom table for a late snack and catching the early part of Thursday night's Jacksonville-Jets game as wind and rain pounded their hotel headquarters, Joe Burrow quietly became the third quarterback to lead the Bengals to back-to-back postseason appearances. Burrow joined Ken Anderson (1981-82) and Andy Dalton (2011-15) when the 7-8 Jaguars dropped New York to 7-8 with the 10-4 Bengals poised to play the 7-7 Patriots 21 miles away Saturday (1 p.m.-Cincinnati's Local 12) in Foxborough, Mass. The Jaguars' 19-3 victory secured the defending AFC champion Bengals the second playoff berth for head coach Zac Taylor and the ninth for the franchise in the last 18 seasons. https://www.bengals.com/news/bengals-quietly-secure-second-straight-playoff-berth-with-eye-on-a-bigger-prize
