I am really disappointed that Cosmi did not let measurements be taken at Texas Pro Day.

Arm Length is a must-have measurement for OT.....without it one might assume he's a OG candidate

Ossai did extremely well

Jackson Carman arms measured 32.5 inches......so he's going to be looked at by some as a OG though he was Trevor Lawrence's OLT

I can't really find any info on the Pro Day results for OT Dillon Radunz, whose pro day was also today

seems this other guy named Trey Lance got so much spotlight that no one paid attention to the potential late 2nd early third round OT prospect

If FA yields no offensive line help and Sewell is gone, absolutely trade down -- do whatever you gotta do to make it happen. I'd rather have Darrisaw than Slater.

That's horseshit smokescreen on Darrisaw. Don't listen to it. There are teams that very badly want him to fall.

I would take Slater without thinking twice at 5.

It’s never been an either or situation at 5.

There will be a blue chip prospect there.  The only thing fans are stuck on is “need”

Gimme Chase, Sewell, Slater or Pitts.  Then you still have Smith.

It’d be nice to drop down a little and pick up and extra pick.

Hey all, Amphar excepted:  My attention has been purely on free agency, so I am curious about any Pro Day news for the last 3 days or so  on players the Bengals might have an interest in

West Virginia?

Auburn?

Georgia?

Georgia:  Edge - Ojulari killed it. Dreams of him at 38 are dead. CB Stokes absolutely flew on his 40. The S was a bit slow on his (most of the safeties in this class are testing slow btw). Ben Cleveland was pretty damn athletic for his size. He's gonna be a road-grader for someone.

Auburn: WR Schwartz put down times in the 4.29 - 4.31 range supposedly. He was supposed to be fast, and, confirmed. Don't recall hearing much else from there.

WVA: Don't recall hearing any details from there. DL Darius Stills would have been of interest but I didn't see anything across my timeline...

Dusting off some scenarios on The Draft Network now that we are through the main part of the FA. Hoping they still sign Turner, but we know enough now to see a few things. With Reiff in fold, some pressure off of #5 overall again.

Here's first scenario - the round 1 tradedown. Chase and Sewell were taken at 3 and 4 just ahead of the Bengals, so I traded back, first to 8 and then to 12 to amass a bunch of picks and ended up with this:

Round 1 Pick 12 overall -- Rashawn Slater, OT/G, Northwestern

Round 2 Pick 38 overall -- Landon Dickerson, IOL, Alabama

Round 3 Pick 69 overall -- Tommy Togai, IDL, tOSU

Round 3 Pick 73 overall (via trade down) -- Dyami Brown, WR, North Carolina

Round 3 102 overall  (via trade down) --- Ben Cleveland, IOL, Georgia

Round 4 Pick 111 overall --- Patrick Jones, Edge, Pitt

Round 4 Pick 113 overall (via trade down) --- Israel Mukuamo, CB, South Carolina

Round 4 Pick 117 overall (via trade down) --- Janarius Robinson, Edge, Florida State

Round 5 Pick 149 overall --- Caden Sterns, S, Texas

Round 5 Pick 155 overall (via trade down) --- Anthony Schwartz, WR, Auburn

Round 6 Pick 190 overall --- Shi Smith, WR, South Carolina (note: w/ Erickson gone -an opening for back-up slot WR)

Round 6 Pick 202 overall --- Ihmir Smith-Marsette, WR, Iowa

Round 7 Pick 235 overall -- Tay Gowan, CB, UCF

Again using Draft Network, here's one where Chase and Sewell were off the board and I turned down a lot of offers to trade back and stayed put with what I deem to be best player available at 5:

Round 1 Pick 5 overall --- Kyle Pitts, TE, Florida

Round 2 Pick 38 overall --- Liam Eichenberg, T, Notre Dame

Round 3 Pick 69 overall --- Jay Tufule, IDL, USC

Round 4 Pick 111 overall --- Ben Cleveland, IOL, Georgia

Round 5 Pick 149 overall --- Rashad Weaver, Edge, Pitt

Round 6 Pick 190 overall --- Josh Imatorbhebhe, WR, Illinois

Round 6 Pick 202 overall ---- Ihmir Smith-Marsette, WR, Iowa

Round 7 Pick 235 overall --- Marco Wilson, CB, Florida

By the way, TDN has the trade for Finley factored in, so the two picks in 6th were nice to play with as opposed to two picks in the 7th. I still don't get why Houston did this, but, awesome.

TDN - stayed put - Sewell available...

Round 1 Pick 5 overall --- Penei Sewell, T, Oregon

Round 2 Pick 38 overall --- Elijah Moore, WR, Ole Miss

Round 3 Pick 69 overall --- Payton Turner, Edge, Houston

Round 4 Pick 111 overall --- Darius Stills, IDL, West Virginia

Round 5 Pick 149 overall --- Bryce Thomson, CB, Tennessee

Round 6 Pick 190 overall --- Wyatt Huber, Edge, Kansas State

Round 6 Pick 202 overall ---- Christian Uphoff, S,  Illinois State

Round 7 Pick 235 overall --- Jaelon Dardan, WR, North Texas

Posted

TDN - stayed put - Chase available...

Round 1 Pick 5 overall --- Ja'Marr Chase, WR, LSU

Round 2 Pick 38 overall --- Jalen Mayfield, T, Michigan

Round 3 Pick 69 overall --- Carlos Basham Jr, Edge, Wake Forest

Round 4 Pick 111 overall --- Marvin Wilson, IDL, Florida State

Round 5 Pick 149 overall --- Ambry Thomas, CB, Michigan

Round 6 Pick 190 overall --- Elerson Smith, Edge, Northern Iowa

Round 6 Pick 202 overall ---- Tyree Gillespie, S, Missouri

Round 7 Pick 235 overall --- Ihmir Smith-Marsette, WR, Iowa

Here's one of my favorite targets - but I usually have been getting him around round 5. That ship may be sailing, but I like hearing this...

so regarding Milton

very glad to hear that the Bengals were present for his pro day.  DL (inside and out) is one of the biggest draft needs.

some pro day and other info

https://www.profootballnetwork.com/milton-williams-nfl-draft-player-profile-louisiana-tech-defensive-tackle/

https://www.nbcsports.com/edge/college-football/nfl-draft/player/62823/milton-williams

He's a little light in the britches, at 284.  strangely enough, so was Geno, and he like Geno also wears 97.  I know, I know, that doesnt matter, but its interesting and freaky

the following site has him listed as a 3-4 DE rather than a 4-3 DT

https://thedraftnetwork.com/articles/2021-nfl-draft-scouting-report--edge-milton-williams

and also indicates thats how he was played at Lousiana Tech

so thats my concern......he'd be a conversion project for us to a 3T DT

.......unless.......

well who the hell knows what is on Anarumos chipmunk sized brain, he could be wanting to go 3-4 for all I know.

He doesnt have the linebackers to do that, tho.....and for all his FA signings, none of them have been linebackers.

Reader's best fit is as a NT, tho.  *shrug*

Would be a best-case scenario. Trade back, get another pick, and still get Sewell.

it would indeed, tho I dont see that as a likely thing

still, I'd likely take that trade (would like to know what other picks were included, tho) and then Slater...or maybe Darrisaw..... at 12 would be fine
