COB
If take him back. He’d have been better than Driscoll, I think.
volcom69
Who the hell is BW Webb never even heard of him. So Dennard was better then any CB last year on the team and they will let him walk and sign this guy. Who the hell is he A 3 year deal for a guy I never heard of! Damn what a Brown family offseason! Crickets at PBS this season
Scottishbengal
BW Webb doesn't appear good enough to last more than a season with any team he's been with ......so the Bengals swap him out with Dennard.......I suppose they gotta balance the books with paying Hart so much but on the face of it this move sucks more than a porn star
AMPHAR
Lol, his PFF slot cb ranking is 2nd best in the league or something like that. I’ve never heard of him but I play mostly on the outside and run real man routes.
AMPHAR
When the Giants traded Apple, Webb held up well enough on the outside to be ranked as the 19th best cover cornerback last year by PFF. That put three Bengals in the top 20 with starters Dre Kirkpatrick rated 13th and William Jackson 16th. PFF graded Webb comparable with Dennard in the slot. The web site had Webb allowing a catch for every 12.5 snaps he played in the slot and Dennard was 8.7 while Webb gave up 1.2 yards per catch and Dennard 1.15. 13 mil over 3 years. Sounds like Dennard replacement.
ArmyBengal
I’m good with Webb coming in to man the slot. There was no way they were paying Dennard as an outside CB while manning the slot. McCarron coming back ?? Yes please.
AMPHAR
FA money dries up quick around the league and the buzz around Dennard has been non existent. Weird. He’s entering that danger zone of no man’s land after the first weekend of FA.
COB
Just read that Burfict has deleted all mention of the Bengals on his social media and appears to be auditioning for other teams.
COB
Dennard had a pretty significant number of snaps on the outside and his performance wasn’t close to either Fitzpatrick or Jackson.
GapControl
Dennard has been a good tackler. He had injuries earlier but has been ok with that recently. He didn’t get on the field early on because of the talent there was in the secondary. He made 1st round money and got his option year too I think... but it’s not worth paying him as a Top 25 starting corner at this point
ArmyBengal
I was really looking forward to the draft, but that has dulled significantly with how things have gone to this point... CB Webb from the Giants- I don't mind the signing as Dennard appears done here. TE CJ Uzomah- We had to bring at least one TE back and I don't mind that he was the one. LB Preston Brown- Again, they had to bring someone back and I don't mind Brown. Stay healthy dude. RT Bobby Hart- Yes, they need depth, but this dude has always sucked since entering the league. Why ?? So the team has prioritized their own players, accounting for 75% of all the moves and those players could all be considered backups at this point. Not a single impact player even pursued that would help either the o-line or linebacking corps. All I can say is they better start addressing some of the impact players that will be coming due next year as UFA. There's a lot of money in that group to be handed out. I just think they totally missed the boat in how they help improve this year, covering free agents in the future and freeing up the draft. I think they are going to be a losing team this year, bleed talent next, and the draft leaves little wiggle room in who gets targeted. I could be wrong, but that's where I am.
volcom69
My only issue with Brown is he is not a Nickle LB, he is to slow. Since the Bengals play mostly Nickle who is going to have that role. They need somebody who can cover! Mother than that I'm good with Brown, I don't like how much they have him, but they did need somebody. Now please cut Burfict! Webb I never heard of the guy, but why not give him a 1 year prove it deal instead of 3 years 13 mil. This year they seem to want to throw money at guys that I'm not sure are worth it. Guess time will tell though.
COB
One point that at least reassured me a little - at least when we sign our own guys we know what we’re getting, and we have a true and accurate forecast for how they’ll play in OUR SYSTEM. Many free agents get paid based on how they performed in the system in which they were brought up, then can’t perform at that level in the system of their new (free agent) team. It’s just a fact and it happens year after year. Kurt Cousins is an example. Dude should send half his Minnesota check back to Jay Gruden in Washington. Mother than that, I’m fine with all of it. ArmyBengal
The guy I wanted was Jordan Hicks, the Eagles LB. The Bengals wanted to draft him that year, but were not able to. Everyone knew the Eagles weren't going to hold onto him and nothing. Not even a visit. He's from Cincinnati for God's sake and would have been a huge upgrade. Not only that, he would have freed up the draft significantly. I get guys not being a fit, but to this point bringing back backups that do fit, is not really helping. Mother than that, they needed to try harder.
ShulaSteakhouse
PFF had Webb ranked 17 spots lower than Dennard. Hart is a dud, a placeholder. Brown is garbage in today's NFL, too slow to cover and never makes plays. So far the Bengals' continue their fan ruse by not getting better in FA, arguably they've gotten worse, at best they maintain status quo with sub-par players. I don't expect much more until the draft from this franchise. A good draft will help, but it won't save them from 3rd or 4th place in the division. Nothing has changed so far other than coaches and scheme. And it remains to be seen if those are upgrades or not, especially on defense. IF you enjoy mediocre-to-bad football, then you're an ideal Bengals' fan willing to excuse everything they do.

I can't remember the last "impact" player the Bengals' have signed in FA, a guy in his prime they have to over-pay and compete for, to get (even if it means not resigning one of your lame vets and going with a drafted rookie instead with more upside). Other teams do it all the time. At least Marvin traded for guys like O'Neal and Nelson once in a while, and was forced to roll the dice with high-upside morons like Pac Man, Thurman, Burfict, and Henry, that no one else wanted. Right now it almost seems like MB is calling the personnel shots again.
cincyhokie
I agree at this point I don’t see anything more than a 6-10 season in 2019. Same old, same old. And with the injury excuses for the reason they started 4-1. Remember after Eifert went down, so did the offense dramatically. Where are the Bengals in resigning him? AMPHAR
John Miller guard signed from the Bills. It’s Miller time!!!!!!! Young up and down player. Hopefully he’s like Bobbie Williams.
ArmyBengal
Said it before but bears repeating. He was benched last year because he sucked. 2019 Bobby Hart ?? Oh wait, we already have a 2019 Bobby Hart. Maybe the two of them together will make at least half of the right side of our line. Hope Dalton is looking forward to another trip to the IR. ShulaSteakhouse
Lol on the Miller signing. How many loser, cast-off Bills' players does this team need? I mean "maybe" he turns it around some and is an "ok" player, maybe. But is that the best they can do? 2 cast-offs to make-up the right side of their line with a cast-off position coach? Fuck this franchise. Seriously I'm just bored at this point. Whatever.
volcom69
Man at this point they got better free agents with Marvin here. These guys they are signing seem worthless! Who is doing this free agency Tobin? The Browns? Zac Taylor? Either way they are setting these young guys up for failure. To bad I was looking forward to a new year with a new coach, but the Bengals once again put my excitement to rest.
COB
John Miller cleaned out my gutters last year and did a great job. He cleans out gutters with passion. It looks like he got benched in 2017, but how were the Bills supposed to play Miller when they had Vladimir Ducasse waiting to take over? Not sure what happened to Vladimir, because it appears Miller started again last year, missing only one game due to a sprained ankle. Our new o-line coach has a lot of work to do. He’ll need a lot of inappropriate pep talks and numerous blow up sex dolls to whip these guys into shape. Mike doesn’t like paying guards, you say? Well just take a look at this John Miller contra..., eh, never mind.
volcom69
Saw they had Danny Shelton in for a visit now he is a guy I can get behind if they sign him Could use a big DT for stuffing the run. I doubt it happens though it makes to much sense. Or maybe he is using the Bengals to get more money.
COB
Just read Cedric Ogbuihe is visiting Jacksonville, they have a big need at right tackle. I read something like, “this could be a great prove-it spot for him.” WTF. Does Jacksonville know what video is? Watch his tape you morons. cincyhokie
Just good enough to finish with 6-8 wins. Not bad enough to take advantage of a top pick in a QB rich draft class in 2020. Again, what's the plan here? Other than spinning around like a turd in a clogged toilet.
