BengalszoneBilly Posted December 1, 2016 Report Posted December 1, 2016 The article was a bit vague on how it happened. A Monday night game vs the Bears doesn't explain a lot. Regardless I hope it turns out well. Quote
AMPHAR Posted December 1, 2016 Report Posted December 1, 2016 The film of the game burnt his retina Quote
COB Posted December 1, 2016 Report Posted December 1, 2016 Unfortunately he watched film of this years Bengals defense, and seeing what Marvin has let happen to the great unit Zim built made his brain swell, pressure on the eye, retina torn. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted December 1, 2016 Report Posted December 1, 2016 You guys beat me to the punch with this. Well done !!! Quote

Zim initially hurt it during a game against the Bears. http://www.startribune.com/mike-zimmer-update-vikings-gm-rick-spielman-will-address-media-at-10-a-m/404026056/ I remember when my grandmother had the same surgery years ago, and after she had to just lie on a bed on her back for days moving her head as little as possible so she didn't re-injure her eye. Zim of course had the first surgery and then was back out on the field the same day so no wonder it isn't taking! Good on Spielman for shutting him down hard. Quote
COB Posted December 1, 2016 Report Posted December 1, 2016 Just read that article about Zimmer. It is a little scary, I hope he didn't damage that eye for good. Eye injuries heal super quickly, so you have to have them tended to asap, or your eye could heal incorrectly, or heal in such a way that your vision stays permanently damaged. He should be our coach, we wouldn't let him detach his retina. Fucking Minnesota. Quote
COB Posted December 2, 2016 Report Posted December 2, 2016 The tube said Zim was home listening to the game instead of watching with his good eye. They said this was so because for his eye to heal properly, his blood pressure must be kept down. Quote
Stripes Posted December 2, 2016 Report Posted December 2, 2016 Apparently the Vikings replaced their kicker because things were starting to get ugly. ... Quote
Passepartout Posted December 2, 2016 Report Posted December 2, 2016 Well Blair Walsh the former kicker really could not get over the January loss thing. Despite the laces out thing. As it was something he could not live down. Nor ever will for that matter. Quote
HoosierCat Posted January 25, 2017 Author Report Posted January 25, 2017 Apparently it didn't take. Going in for try No. 4 in April. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2017/01/25/mike-zimmer-set-for-another-eye-surgery/ That sucks. Quote
COB Posted January 26, 2017 Report Posted January 26, 2017 Holy crap. I'd guess he's going to remain blind in that eye. Zim's a good dude, but he's sure gone through some pretty bad stuff along the way. My proposal - Steal him away from Minnesota with a large contract, and the offer to Marvin is he can stay on as GM or VP Of KMA, or whatever they want to call his job, if, and only if, he donates one eye to Zimmer.
