gregcook68
The premise itself isn't even a logical argument. Oh, I know, I just figured I would meet Schein on his own ground. Funny, I was listening to Mike & Mike on the way in today, and the two subs they had (Trev and the coach, I think, whoever they are) were talking about how it's all about the QB because that's all the casual fan cares about. NFL QBs are "Miley Cyruses" according to them and without the stars the casual fan won't care. Per them, if the Cowboys had made the playoffs they would have been a less compelling story because Tony Romo was out. That's about the point where I thumbed the off switch on the radio.@gregcook: wow, that's messed up. I would have told the media to get bent, too. Huge tragedy for a family and they completely validate the popular perception of journalists as vultures.I'm not sure how accurate the media's perception concerning QBs and fans. I really don't think the 1985 Bear fans, the 2000 Raven fans, and the 2002 Buccaneer fans put asterisks beside their championships just because they had Jim McMahon, Trent Dilfer, and Brad Johnson, opposed to Joe Montana, Tom Brady, Eli Manning!!!COME ON MAN!!!! ArmyBengal
Who in the world is willing to brawl with a drunken nfl linebacker?Could I make a case that he instigated the whole thing, allowing me to sue for mental stress and anguish, resulting in a million+ dollar finding in my favor ??I'm in. But for an organization like ESPN the target audience is a much broader "sports fan," of which hardcore fans are a subset. They aren't concerned about us, they know we will keep consuming their stuff, if only to make fun of it. But in order to appeal to generic sports fans, they have clearly found that sticking to personalities works. Thus, for instance, golf coverage isn't about golf, it's about how big names like Tiger Woods are doing. In similar vein, the NFL coverage isn't about football, it's about, can Andy Dalton win a playoff game?In a way I suppose we ought to be flattered. The Dalton storyline is clearly one of the leading storylines this week; he's the spotlight QB.

volcom69
Bengals say that they dipped under 10,000 tickets, but said a blackout could very well happen. I wished I live in the Cinci area to go, I live in central PA, and still havnt gotten to a game. One day Ill make it.Needs to sell out before Thrusday or it's a black out. I'm still suprised it hasn't sold out yet. It will be wierd that all regular season games sold out, but the most important game wouldn't. Lets hope it does sell out! jjakq27
It's a sales tactic but it is probably legit that they're still a long way off from reaching the blackout limit. Not sure if it's been mentioned here elsewhere but the Colts and the hallowed Packers are also having trouble selling out their home playoff games too. cincyhokie
Not to be a dick here, but, I've got my tickets. Section 154, Row 26. That being said, the game WILL sell out.

redsbengalsbucks
Chad Johnson said he will buy whatever tickets are left. Don't have the link at hand. Why, couldn't he have always kept up this kind of attitude and demeanor while he was a player. He has a good side and a horrible side. volcom69
Why can't Chad Johnson just stay away, I hope he dosnt go to the game! He seems to bring bad luck when around the team.
HoosierCat
Chad was never a bad guy. It was just all about him. "Planet Ocho" etc. I still like his TD celebration war with the front office of the No Fun League. Things turned sour before the end, but boy he was fun to watch back around 05.(Cue Army in 4...3...2...)
jjakq27
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/football/nfl/gameflash/2012/12/02/5082/Here's a recap of their meeting last year in SD. I expect another low scoring game. I'll tale 24-17 Bengals.
Stripes
Didn't Chad buy out a bunch of tickets once when he played here?It had better not be necessary either way. FFS.
gregcook68
I transplanted down here in Florida in 1981 so I get 0 updates on the Bengals via local media. Any updates on Gresham and Eifert?
HoosierCat
Nothing I've heard.Weather update tho: forecast is deteriorating, which may help explain slow tix sales. Now looking at an 80% chance or rain or snow Sunday with a high of 41 and low of 7. 9 mph winds.

COB
Why can't Chad Johnson just stay away, I hope he dosnt go to the game! He seems to bring bad luck when around the team. They better keep him off the sideline. He was on the sideline for the Dolphins game and naturally we played like total crap. Any time national tv cameras are around (dolphins game was on national tv, this playoff game is nationwide), Chad shows up and tries to insert himself into the story. His desperate need for attention doesn't actually have to be accommodated.
jjakq27
This is a very critical juncture for the NFL. Having three of four playoff games not sold out is a huge problem. It will be interesting to see how they resolve it. Indy is an indoor facility so weather can't be a reason like it is here and in GB. A blackout now, even of one game, would be cutting their own throats.

A 4-12 circus!
HoosierCat
Coley:#Bengals missing Kyle Cook, Andrew Whitworth, Terence Newman, Wallace Gilberry, Tyler Eifert and A.J. Green at practice todayPer Hobs, Cook and Newman appear questionable. Gilberry may be in concussion protocol. Whatever Green's issue is he is expected to play. Gresham practicing.
