Scottishbengal
Man need to get my eyes tested or my memory checked - I was convinced we had a bye week after the Baltimore game - instead it's a week later after the Cleveland game. Next two games could decide the AFCN if we take two W's. :thumbsup:/>
ArmyBengal
Yeah, sure would be nice to get two division wins heading into the bye week.
cincyhokie
If they win the next 2 games, the division is a lock. They would be 3 games up with 5 to go.
kingwilly
Yeah, sure would be nice to get two division wins heading into the bye week.Agree. These two, then the game v Colts (playoff implications) probably the key to the season. I predict whipping Ravens and Browns. Tight game with Colts, then take 2 of last 4. End 11-5, div title, 3 or 4 seed, host a playoff game.

HoosierCat
In his mailbag column Clayton has some interesting data on injuries. Starting at the end, someone asks him about Geno's injury and rise in ACL problems.By my count, 44 players have blown out their ACL this year. The number was around 30 last year. He blames the lighter offseason workout schedule. Earlier in the column he goes in depth on the o-line injuries which are way up league-wide.After eight weeks, there were 123 missed offensive line starts in 2010 and 127 in 2011. The number jumped to 170 last year and is at 148 and growing this season. Martin and Incognito will add to this year's total. Carolina tackle Jeff Byers went on injured reserve Tuesday. Ravens guard Kelechi Osemele is done for the season. The way guys are going down this year, I still project the number of missed games for offensive linemen this year will exceed last year's total of 447. There were 294 for the entire season in 2010. Adding this week's injuries and projecting the remaining games to be missed by players on injured reserve means the 2013 number already has passed the 2010 total.Yikes. His solutions include changing PS rules to let guys stay on the taxi squad longer, more IR-recall options and expanded gameday rosters. All of that sounds good to me but of course would increase costs to owners, so...

ArmyBengal
Just saw the report that both Hall and Atkins have had their surgeries and they will soon begin the rehab process. It made me think about the injuries this team has suffered to this point in the season and just shake my head. The next thought ??Had anyone said at the start of the season that we would lose both Atkins and Hall, would anyone have thought this team would be 7-4 at this point ??It goes a long way to say what the defense has overcome.Throw in the loss of Geathers, Lamur, and a shortened time for Maualuga (hell even Mays) and it's a minor miracle this defense has held.Zimmer, position coaches, players, or whomever it is, they deserve a ton of credit. gregcook68
So many guys on defense give Zimmer credit! He's good at what he does. I just hope if he gets HC offers next year, in order to keep him, I hope Brown is willing to offer Marvin GM, Marvin willing to accept it, and then offer Zimmer HC position! HoosierCat
We have a GM. Her name's Katie. And I'm pretty happy with the job she and Marvin have done in the last few years.I have no idea if Marvin is interested in a FO job. If he is, not sure that it would work. It's never easy for the new coach when the old coach is still around (ask Tiger Johnson).

Check it out sometime.Well if everyone wants to keep Zimmer, that's about the only option, unless, the teams that want new coaches, want OCs instead of DCs, which is one reason why I think he hasn't been picked up by now!The good thing is, Zim said that sure he'd like to get an offer, but it's a win/win for him, because he likes what he does and likes the guys he is coaching at Cincy!
