We should have won tonights game @ Miami, we should have won @ Cleveland and we should (by all accounts but I didn't see the game) @ Chicago. 6-3 is good but not if you consider 9-0 is/was easily within reach (capability) ......

a play-off team? possibly

a play-off wining team??? now im starting to doubt

Look at the AFC overall. They are a playoff team. But injuries are killing them.

We were very lucky with injuries the first qtr of the year and now they are hitting us real bad but injuries didn't cause Dalton to throw 3 picks yesterday which is what really killed em. You can't do that, including a pick 6 and a safety and win on the road

Nope, Andy didn't have his best game last night. That said, not all the picks were his fault and his numbers would look a lot better without AJ, Jermaine and Sanu dropping balls. And he threw what, about 50 times? Once again we had no run game, and what little we did have vanished late when Gio got hurt. And despite all of that, we still had the lead with a minute and a half left and our gold-plated D couldn't get a stop, in part because half the gold is in the hospital.

If Geno is done that will mean we are out four starters on defense (plus Lamur) in just nine games. Like I said, 2009 all over again. This team will make the playoffs but by the time it gets there it won't have anything left.

My opinion in a minute, first let me relay my diamond to dust day yesterday.

Big meeting in SF, presenting a tens of million dollars deal. Nail the final meeting, answering all issues, looks like we gonna get the contract signed... Cloud nine, thing right in the world.

Back to airport...... Suddenly can't find drivers license. Uhhhh.... How to get on the plane......no ID....

Luckily, have good conversation with the TSA supervisor, show all manner of other credentials, and they let me pass.

Next, get back to my airport, game about to kick off, get to car..... Battery dead, won't start......... F u c k.

Luckily, airport has their own sort of AAA. Get jump, all good.

Get back to house, kids done eating dinner, Bengals trailing but seem solid at halftime.

Email comes through, looks like we will NOT be getting the contract signed, project delayed till Q1-2014 (April). F u c k.

Walking with kids, trick or treating, pictures, fun... Dalton throwing picks, Geno going down.... F u c k.

Can't block Wake. Gruden pass happy bulls**t. Drops, errors, PI calls..... F u c k

Now Scut Dalton doing his best Palmer impersonation. Newman doing his best Tory James impersonation. Marvin doing his best Wade Philips impersonation.... F u c k.

s**t day.

This team can recover but it will be a serious issue replacing Geno. He commands serious attention from Olines. Dunlap and MJ can thank Geno for their big $ this year. Losing Geno and Hall, after losing Lamur and lesser extent injury to Mays and Rey, combined may end up too much for the D to absorb. This seems to place far too much pressure on the O to produce. Scut handled the games well when the D was imposing its will on opponents. Now that he will have to bear the burden, we'll see if Dandy truly has what it takes to elevate this team. If Gio is out for any more than 1 game, I fear the worst, a bad stretch of football, possibly allowing Baltimore to inch back into the race.

Either way, playoff football without Geno sounds sucky to me. If next man up Thompson can be 60% of Geno, we may be OK. To be seen. Secondary also must elevate, looking at you Adam, Terrence and Dre. Boley needs to be more than a crusty band aid.

Anywho, woe is me and my worthless day yesterday. Today is Friday, so enjoy your weekend. F u c k.

Penis.

Penis is an old, BZ way to end a post filled with annoyance. Used to use it when dealing with Hair. Hoosier will get it.... Anyways, just thought I'd toss that out there. The word, not the literal tossing of my penis.

Day today is better, house full of candy, light work, kids have a half day and one sons playoff football is tomorrow AM. Joy to the world.

My Dad died on Halloween in 2000, so it's pretty much the worst day of the entire frickin year for me. I was really hoping that a Bengals victory would make it slightly tolerable, but losing, and then losing Geno for the year just makes it the worst day it could be (within reason of course).

Sorry to hear that.

I just keep telling myself it's just football, time to move on. Just really sucks it had to happen last night. I hate Thursday night games, and think they should get rid of them.

I love Thursday night games, just not when the Bengals have to play.

Last night was the exact reason why. The human body just isn't designed to take that kind of beating.

Similar to the military...

Strap 100 pounds worth of gear to your ass and then go on a foot patrol through rocky mountainous terrain to fight the enemy.

No wonder my shoulders, back, hips, knees and ankles are a mushy substance.

Thursday night games simply make the league too much money to ever think they will go away.

Hell, I could see them starting earlier in the evening and getting two games in that night.

Cha-ching.

For fans sure Thursday night football is great, but if you look at these games, they are so sloppy, guys always getting hurt, and guys that could play on Sunday cant play on Thursday because its too soon. Is that really fair to the teams, especially the away teams.

Does the whole season come down to the next game .... @ Baltimore ???

Currently we have a 3 game lead over Baltimore but the Ravens do have two games in hand on us (@ Cleveland on Sunday and @ Chicago the week we have a bye).

Cleveland is a difficult place to go and Baltimore have been poor on the road (1-3) but if they should pull out a W against the Browns that'll put them 4-4 with the beat up Bengals coming to town next it'd be all to play for.

A loss for the Bengals in Baltimore leaves the Ravens one game behind with a trip to Chicago when we have a bye - again not an easy place to go but with some momentum building they could take that one as well.

A win for Cincy in Baltimore and we have that 2 game cushion plus a chance to rehab/recover some injuries and keep the confidence going down the final stretch after the bye.

It's a bit cliche to say it's ll about the next game - but in the Bengals case I really do believe it (this season) is

Still don't know why it's so hard to have teams that play on a Thursday have the Sunday before as their bye week.

Yeah, there are things to tweak, but it's not like it would be an impossibility either.

Again, it just makes too much money to see it go away.

Example would be how the Monday night game between the hapless Giants and Vikings had a higher TV rating than game one of the World Series.

It doesn't matter what the NFL throws on the field, it's making buttloads of money.

Browns did us a solid one last night .... apart from the Geno injury and loss of pace in the AFC there's nothing spoilt from the Miami game.

A quick count on stats page and before todays games there were 221 players in league on I.R., out indefinitely, or on the return designation list don't know how that rates to previous years, but NFL standing for Not for Long sure reigns true

Wow. That's an avg of 7 per team and we're only half way through. Let's keep this number updated as the season goes on. My guess is that number will climb to a dozen by the end of the yr and that's a hell of a lot. Something needs to get done by the NFL on this. If they don't want to increase roster sizes then they ought to do little things like allowing players on injured reserve to return before the end of the year or maybe being able to block 2 of your practice squad guys from being picked off by another team.
