volcom69 Posted September 3, 2013 Report Posted September 3, 2013 Yea this team does suck on opening day. They also suck when there is all this hype about them, so I'm hoping they don't let all the talk effect them. I'm also hoping that the lack of safety, and the injury to there best Nickle LB dosnt hurt them. However I do expect them to win, at least I hope so. Quote
COB Posted September 3, 2013 Report Posted September 3, 2013 Bengals 500, Bears 0. Then right after the game the Bears announce they are ceasing operations and filing bankruptcy due to extensive crippling injuries suffered by most of their team during drastic beat down delivered by the Bengals. City of Chicago goes into shock after the jumbotron at Soldier Field inadvertently displays 30 seconds of footage from the camera in the owner's box showing Mike Brown banging the living crap out of 90-year-old Bears owner Virginia Halas McCaskey. Asked for comment after the game, Brown said, "that's called getting the oxcart stuck in the ditch, motherf**ker!" He then screamed, "this is for you, Roger!", and flashed gang signs out the window of the Lumina as he pulled away from the stadium. Quote
Wraith Posted September 3, 2013 Report Posted September 3, 2013 AS badly as they have looked on Opening Day, they have looked equally good against the NFC in Marvin's tenure. Marvin's Teams are 24-15-1 (nearly 62%) since 2003 against the NFC including several games (Tampa Bay in 2010 and Dallas for example) that were won barring a late game collapse that became losses. So something has to give in this game, tough game, no doubt, but these are the games the Bengals must win if they want to be a serious contender. No Prediction just keeping my fingers crossed. Quote

HoosierCat Posted September 3, 2013 Author Report Posted September 3, 2013 AS badly as they have looked on Opening Day, they have looked equally good against the NFC in Marvin's tenure. This is true. Also true is that the Bengals have generally had the Bears' number. Cincy leads the series 6-3 (yes, they have only met nine times!) and that includes an astonishing 4-1 record at Soldier Field. Their only loss to the Bears in Chicago? Opening day 1989, the only other time the club has opened in Chicago. Quote

I'll laugh about that one throughout the day. Quote

Dunno if you saw it in the billy thread but he told me to tell you hi in his last letter. Quote
HoosierCat Posted September 4, 2013 Author Report Posted September 4, 2013 FWIW, from Reedy:Joe Reedy @joereedy 38mWhitworth says he's close and just going to do what the doctor orders this weekHe will probably be listed as doubtful today, we'll see if that improves. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted September 4, 2013 Report Posted September 4, 2013 Hearing "He's close" is FAR better than "He should play sometime this season". Quote
volcom69 Posted September 4, 2013 Report Posted September 4, 2013 Newman is practicing today, but Ghee is not. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted September 4, 2013 Report Posted September 4, 2013 Hope things get better for Ghee, but if I had to pick one of the two to be practicing, I want to hear Newman's name. Quote
HoosierCat Posted September 4, 2013 Author Report Posted September 4, 2013 Pollack and Whitworth also scratches today. Quote
volcom69 Posted September 4, 2013 Report Posted September 4, 2013 Pollack practiced yesterday maybe just rest for his knee. Quote
HoosierCat Posted September 4, 2013 Author Report Posted September 4, 2013 One other note, Still was limited with a knee issue. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted September 4, 2013 Report Posted September 4, 2013 While Still didn't impress me much through the preseason, I like his role to this point and think he will continue to develop.Hopefully the guys that are dinged get back sooner rather than later. Our depth is our strength, but I don't want to test the 3rd stringers. Quote
Scottishbengal Posted September 5, 2013 Report Posted September 5, 2013 Gleaned from Bengals.comINJURIES: Before Wednesday's practice left tackle Andrew Whitworth said he thinks he'll be listed as doubtful Sunday. Backup guard-center Mike Pollak (knee) and cornerback Brandon Ghee (concussion) also didn't woek. The Bengals don't classify players as doubtful, questionable or probable until Friday and Whitworth and Lewis refused to rule him out. Five others players were listed on Lewis's first injury report of the season and four were full go in right tackle Andre Smith (knee), cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick (concussion), left end Carlos Dunlap (concussion), and tight end Tyler Eifert (forearm). Defensive tackle Devon Still (knee) was limited. Meanwhile Trestman said all 61 Bears practiced Wednesday and that wide receiver Brandon Marshall (hip) has looked good the past two workouts. I guess will know more on Friday what the state of the squad is. Reports on the Yahoo FF site is that Marshalls hip is as good as ever. One other factor is that the Bears have a rookie HC in his first game in the hot seat ..... will that be a disadvantage to the Bears and a benefit to the Bengals, or vice versa ?? Quote
HoosierCat Posted September 5, 2013 Author Report Posted September 5, 2013 Here is a pretty good read on da Bears./>http://www.suntimes.com/sports/22344815-419/the-2013-bears-are-a-great-unknown.html Quote
ArmyBengal Posted September 5, 2013 Report Posted September 5, 2013 That is a good write up on them. It's been said before and I believe it still, i'm glad the Bengals are getting the Bears early in the season. If the youngsters coming in do their jobs, they will be an interesting team throughout the season.God knows that defense has a way of creating turnovers.Bengals still win...
